Our family has been vacationing in Crystal Beach since the 1960's. We lost our beach house to Hurricane Ike, but we were fortunate enough to have insurance and are thrilled to have been part of bringing Bolivar back. Ours is an open floor plan with 1335 square feet, three bedrooms, a sleeper sofa, and Wifi.
Kids will love playing in the ocean, making sandcastles, and collecting shells. Adults will love the expansive view of the Gulf of Mexico and the easy access to the beach.
The Master Suite is decorated in soothing colors with a palm tree theme. It has a king size bed, an oversized tub, and a separate entrance to the porch for sneaking out with that first cup of coffee to watch the sun come up over the ocean. The second bedroom has a queen bed, a great view of the beach, and is decorated in cool tropical shades. The 3rd bedroom has two antique twin beds and is decorated in a cat theme.
The fully stocked kitchen is open to the dining room, which is furnished with large, comfortable furniture and decorated in a tropical theme, perfect for lingering over family mealtime.
Enjoy a great night's sleep in the 3 private bedrooms, all of which have a reading light, extra pillows, a clock, and a fan.
We have plenty of beach chairs and toys, and crabbing gear all available for your use.
Inside we have books and games for all ages.
We make every effort to have the basics for you upon arrival: toilet paper, coffee filters, basic spices, etc. Linens are not provided so bring sheets, bath towels and beach towels. All beds have mattress pads, comforters and pillows. Anything you forget can be purchased at The Big Store, less than a mile away.
For larger groups, our cousin owns Cabana Che which is a block away and sleeps 8 (listing #338543)

We love Crystal Beach for too many reasons to name! Galveston is just a fun ferry ride away and has everything you might want for your entertainment on a vacation, but if you just want to get away from it all, you don't need to leave the Bolivar Peninsula. The Big Store has everything you might need; there are local fisherman to buy fresh seafood from, and great restaurants too!
From early morning walks at sunrise until cocktail hour on the shady front porch, we relax and enjoy the constant ocean breezes, the smell of the salt air, and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. Thanksgiving is a particularly special time for us to convene in Crystal Beach, but we love it at all times of year and think you will too.
Our house is in the 'Noisy Waves' sub-division, which is a family-friendly area between Emerald II and Holiday Beach, about 1 mile west of the Big Store and 11 miles east of the ferry landing.
Stone's Throw was the perfect beach cabin for our family of four, with our older son and his son staying with us too. It was comfortable and clean, just a three minute walk to the beach. The beach area was family friendly, a plus when you have children along. And the cabin is ideally located close to a large supermarket. We would definitely stay here again!
I spent the weekend at Stone's Throw with two friends (I'd been there previously with kids), and it was just perfect. Walks on the beach, sunset with a drink on the porch, a quick drive to dinner, great bird watching, and an accommodating kitchen and dining area. It's set up perfectly for gatherings of three to six. Lots of light and a great view!

Lisa is very responsive and easy to work with
Much of the home is a little dated and a worn from use of renters (couch peeling, dining chair bottoms can be lifted off chairs, pinkish mold on shower curtains, melted handle on grill).
Our biggest frustration was finding the queen and one of the twin mattresses stained with vomit. The beds are made when you arrive (mattress pad, comforter and throw pillows). We assumed this meant it was clean and made the beds. On our departure when we stripped the bedding and mattress pads we found the queen had vomit (maybe something else?) stains in the middle of the bed and the twin bed was stained all along the top and side. That’s a pretty disgusting feeling to find out you and your small children have slept on vomit stained mattresses.
The queen mattress had a small square mattress pad in the middle with a mattress pad cover on top of it to hide it. The twin mattress had been flipped so only the large stain (that covers 1/3 of the side) was visible on the side.
I did inform Lisa about the stains and she explained that it happened with the renters before us and that, “…my cleaning person told me about the stain on the mattress pad. Apparently it happened with the renters before you, who tried to wash it out. She also washed it and had no idea what it was, by that second washing there was no odor.” By this response it isn’t clear if the mattresses were cleaned as well.
Lisa also explained that, “I plan to replace all the mattresses within the next couple of years, but it depends on the bank balance.”
I think every future renter should know they are sleeping on someone’s vomit. It’s only fair to be informed what you are renting before you get there.
This house was just perfect to accommodate our families needs. The beds were so comfy! Everyone said they slept better than they do at home which is a huge complement coming from my father in law who can't sleep anywhere! Great views of the ocean. Plenty of movies, games and water toys provided! Would definitely stay here again!
Stones Throw was beyond our expectations. We had an amazing view to the beach from our balcony. This property was amazing, clean, and it felt like we were home. Lisa was very helpful and answered when we had questions. I will stay here again!
