Serenity cabins was a perfect size for 1-2 people, and it was nice and cozy inside. I had no issues with the heater not working like a previous reviewer. However, I was highly disappointed by two major things. The bed was (I'm pretty sure) a full, not a queen, and the most uncomfortable and squeakiest bed I've ever slept on. I am tiny and my friend is average sized and it felt like a tight fit. I didn't get any sleep during our stay. They really need to upgrade that mattress. Also, I was really excited to get a cabin with a hot tub, but the water was so yellow and murky we ended up not using it at all because it was disgusting. I told cool cabins agency about it after and they pretty much blamed it on the owners of the cabin that they have their own pool cleaning people. Though I should have told them right away, my stay was so short that it would have taken hours to deal with it so I waited to tell them after and I was not satisfied with how they responded.
Great cabin with all the features we need. The location is away from big streets so the drive way gets plow in lower priority.
The cabin was cute and clean, let me start with that. It also had a great location, good selection of games, books and even a few old classic movies.
The cons were that the heater was awful and didn't even come close to heating the entire cabin. It only heated the living room and kitchen. That left the bathroom and bedroom absolutely freezing. Suggestion... build a fire (BYO-wood or order it to be there for you). That should help. Also, when we went there was a lot of ice and snow and the porch was left very snowy and icy and they don't have a door mat, so prepare to slip and fall when you walk in! C'mon, right safety first. Door mats are like $20 and can really help to wipe down wet fit.
Another pro... easy check in and checkout process. Cool Cabins was awesome that way.
Hope this helps!
This was my first trip to Big Bear so I don't have much to compare to but Serenity worked out well for a night. The bedroom is tiny (basically the size of the bed) but the living area is plenty spacious. Note the bed is a full, not a queen as listed in the description. We didn't cook, but the kitchen seemed plenty well stocked. The hot tub is a great feature though we didn't use it. Other bonuses are a massage chair, wide array of movies, a few games, and it's pet friendly. It's about a three minute drive into town.
Snowy, warm cozy, clean, & small, just what we wanted. The best part was that our dogs were welcome!
