Perfect outside beach and lake!

  • 5 of 5

The owner George of this property was very nice. He came and made sure we were all set when we got there and also helped pull our boat out of the water. We had a great time at this house! The beach was perfect for little kids and the fishing was great!

The only disadvantages for us were the mosquitos were so bad we couldn't sit outside at night, even with bug spray and candles, and if we were inside the kids could hear us and kept waking up. Also, the internet was slow (but it didn't really bother us) and the hot water was usually only good for a shower or two.

We had a great time!!!

Owner's Response: We always welcome feedback, in order to improve your stay. Sorry we can’t do much about mosquitos, as there are many trees in the area. Our one neighbor has cut down numerous trees and brush, which should make an improvement. I’m surprised that some areas of the house were not sound proof, as there are three levels. Although the loft is open, it’s possible to be in the walkout basement and not hear noise above. We were surprised to hear that you did not have enough hot water and will address that problem. There are times that our utility company will shutdown on some energy, to conserve energy, in extremely hot weather, which we have been experiencing. We will definitely look into this, as we have not had this complaint before.

Great house. Great lake. Fantastic owners.

  • 5 of 5

My family and friends were very impressed by George and Carol and their property. The adults and the kids had a fantastic time. The description was solid and the amenities were perfect for the week. The property was clean provided an amazing base for hours of fun. We brought up our boat. Keeler lake was amazing. Not much traffic. We had the lake to ourselves much of the time. Kids had a blast tubing, skiing, and knee boarding.

George and Carol were great hosts. George saved the day, getting up early and in the rain to help us pull our boat out of the water. We can't say "thank you" enough.

We would recommend this property to our friends and are looking to come back.

Thank You!

As Advertised

  • 5 of 5

We had a small group of 6 for the week (3 Adults, 3 children) (grand parents popped in for a couple days) and everything was exactly as advertised. I'll comment on some of the concerns that I had from other reviews.....

Wi-Fi - not the fastest, but my wife and I were both able to log into our respective VPN's and get work done simultaneously. we did not try to stream anything at the owners request, but it was nice to not have the kids on their tablets watching netflix.

Seaweed - was plentiful, but the owners did a nice job of clearing their beach area. kids didn't care either way.

Grill(s) - there are two of them, but they are on their last legs (one of them is actually on it's last leg, so be careful when using it. Definitely time to replace them.

This wasn't a concern, but for the record, our security deposit was returned by the Friday after we left.

Owner's Response: Constructive criticism is always welcomed. We value your input and try to respond to any concerns we have control over. We didn't realize how bad the grills were until last week and we have replaced the grills with two new Weber's. The weeds in our lake were treated but it was late in June before they were. It takes approximately 3-6 weeks to see an improvement. We do treat our lake for bad weeds but some weeds are good for inland lakes. All inland lakes will have weeds of some type. We try to keep the beach and shallow area free of weeds but we only do this on Saturday before check-in, so as not to disturb our guests. Therefore, some weeds may accumulate during the week. Our responsibility is to make our guests as comfortable as possible, as we hope to have you return in the future.

Great Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

Great family vacation place. I rented this place with 5 adults and 6 children. The house sleeps 12 comfortably and was really clean. Beds were comfortable, linens and towels hotel quality. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans and silverware. Everything from the oven, dishwasher and refrigerator were extremely clean. The pantry and refrigerator had plenty of room to stock food and snacks for all of us for the week. It has central air and a very nice tv area. Wi-Fi but only 1G.

Outside - was just as clean. It appears from the pictures that the upper deck will protect the lower area from rain but that is not the case so keep that in mind if you want to sit outside or grill when it is raining. It does provide shade. Grill was ok but I would suggest bringing your own utensils.

Lake - The sandy beach was really nice and one of the reasons we chose this house. We rented a pontoon and could dock it at the pier. My only disappointment was that there was a lot of seaweed around the floating raft and that is why I gave it a 4 star rating. None of us wanted to swim off the raft. We either stayed at the shallow end or went out in the pontoon. Other than that, I would highly recommend this home.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review. We welcome reviews and any constructive criticism, so, we can improve any areas that our clients might be dissatisfied with. This is your vacation and we want it to be the best. This is our first year with Wi-Fi but unfortunately we have limited carriers in our area. We hope to address this by next year to improve the speed. We didn't realize that grilling utensils needed to be replace and will do so immediately. As far as the weed issue in deeper water is concerned, the lake association had not used chemicals in 5 years and the bad weeds had gotten out of hand by last year. All inland lakes do have weeds and some are beneficial to the wildlife but sometimes bad weeds over take the good weeds. The lake association did one chemical treatment this year, therefore, some weeds remained. We do have a aeration system to clean the lake by introducing oxygen into the water. This is good for the fish and getting rid of rotten debris on bottom of lake. The association has hired a Biologist who is monitoring our lake to foresee any future problems. We hope you will come again in the future.

Our Second Summer at Keeler Lake!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our visit so much in June of 2012 that our family of 8 unanimously voted to return this year. The sandy beach and clean lake bottom with a shallow slope out to deep water topped our list of must-haves for the youngsters. The dock, the raft and the boats were much used by all during our stay. The cabin is clean, comfortable and well stocked. We plan to return next summer and I highly recommend it for your vacation getaway.

Heartland Chalet

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time ever. The chalet was perfect, we had 11 people in our group, 5 kids and 6 adults. The kids fished every day, caught and released 102 fish. They swam everyday. It was the best place to relax. Weather was perfect. George and Carole Hartley were very gracious hosts. Place was spotless, plenty of towels, kitchen was fully stocked with silverware, plates. pots and pans. I woud recommend this place highly and would like to stay there again. We only went out to dinner once to the Keller Keg, and that was terrible. But a relative recommended it not the Hartley's.

Owner's Response: We look forward to your reviews. Sorry, Keeler Keg was a disappointmnet. They usually have great hamburgers and they are only 2 miles away. They're many other restaurants within 20-30 minutes to choose from, also. Hope to see you in the future.
