About the property

Large 4 bedroom, 3 bath house. Awesome views from multi-level decks. Sleep 2-12

Morning, noon or night you will enjoy the phenomenal view from the multi-tiered decks of this beautiful mountain retreat. Our 2500 square foot house features both open and covered decks for outdoor fun. There are picnic tables, porch chairs and a gas grill.

We are located in a mountainside, gated community with streams, a waterfall, a duck pond and a picnic area. The house is set on a quiet road with a concrete drive for easy access. You can enjoy taking long walks or bicycle rides right inside the gates of the community.

There is a warm cozy feeling in the large living/dining room area with its stone, wood-burning fireplace, cedar paneling and vaulted ceilings; you can see the mountains easily through the sliding glass doors. Our kitchen has everything you need - just bring the groceries. The downstairs family room has a wood stove, 2 sofas and a table for playing cards or games.

The upstairs features a large king-size master suite, with a private bath and doors that open onto the upper decks, as well as a queen bedroom and one with two twin beds. These two bedrooms share an additional bathroom upstairs. Downstairs has a queen size bedroom and an adjoining bathroom with a full washer & dryer. Additional sleeping is available in a queen sleeper sofa and a day bed with a trundle downstairs.

There are so many things to do in the area - hiking, biking, golf, parks, fishing, wildlife, horseback riding, shopping, restaurants, sightseeing, white-water rafting, gem mining, antique shopping, scenic drives, gambling just to name a few.

Nestled in North Carolina's southern mountains, Franklin is large enough to offer most everything you need, yet still have the peace and tranquility of the mountains. Spectacular waterfalls, fantastic hiking trails, pristine fishing streams and abundant wildlife are just a few of the many things available in this area. Each year Franklin offers numerous festivals and special events including Pickin' on the Square which features live music each Saturday night June through October.

About Karla Langlotz

I live in Florida year round and get to the mountains as often as I can

Karla Langlotz purchased this house in 2005

Why Karla Langlotz chose North Carolina Mountains

After living in Florida for quite a while, I really missed the mountains. I like the trees, and the views and the cooler weather. I had visited friends who own a home in the same area and loved it so, in 2005 I purchased my mountain house. When you stand on the upper deck, it feels like the trees are all around you, just like being in a treehouse. I am happy to share the beauty and so I decided to make my home a vacation rental.

What makes this house unique

As a person who travels with my pet, I felt it was important to make our house pet-friendly. I believe that those who travel with their pets are responsible pet owners and trust they will monitor their pets' behavior while staying in our home. We want all our four-legged friends to have a fun vacation too

Guestbook comments from the owner

Want to say how much we enjoyed week's vacation at your mountain home. The view was truly breath-taking, and so was the drive up the mountain! We didn't get snow, but enjoyed frosty mornings and bright stars at night. Thank you for allowing us to share in the blessing!

Spacious accommodations with awesome views!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The beds were quite comfortable. Our favorite spot was the porch with its fantastic views. We hope to be able to return again soon.

Family Wedding in the Mountains

  • 4 of 5

Our trip started out a bit shaky when we got lost in the area. I sent Karla an email to call me and she did so quickly! She was very calming and very willing to help to get us where we needed to be and to start our vacation. It was quite rainy before we had gotten there and continued for a day or two but even with the rain we enjoyed our stay and especially the views from the top patio/deck! We had a total of 8 adults and 4 kids and we never ever felt crowded......this cabin has tons of room!! Thanks for sharing your home with our Florida family!!

Wonderful house in a beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a creative women's retreat in this house and it was perfect for us. The house was not only clean and well-kept, but beautifully decorated and well-stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen. The central room was nice and open and the views were unbeatable. Also the owner really worked with us on our scheduling and couldn't have been nicer. We went antiquing and had a beautiful hike to see waterfalls in Nantahala National Forest. I highly recommend this house.

The Best Equipped Most Welcoming Vacation Rental We Have Experienced

  • 5 of 5

Our family experienced the loss of our daughter-in-law very suddenly, which meant a lot of family coming to Franklin on very short notice. In an effort to accommodate our daughters and their children, we were able to rent this property. The booking process went very smoothly, Karla was extremely easy to work with. The house is everything and more that is advertised. We have rented many a VRBO property around the world and right here in our backyard is the best equipped and most welcoming property that we have ever experienced. The families (10 of them) were extremely comfortable and on Sunday morning when I came to fix breakfast for everyone I found every item I needed plus observed that any meal could be prepared with what was available. Plenty of dishes, silverware, glassware, cups, etc. to handle 12 of us. Paper products in abundance as well as cleaning products, every detail was thought of. When we had a snowfall which delayed the families' departure, Karla was easy to reach and easily accommodated an extension of one more night. We will definitely recommend this property to others as well as use it again for our own family in the future under better circumstances. Thank you, Karla.

Perfect retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful place to spend time with some of my favorite people making some great memories. All the comforts of home and every detailed instruction was easy to follow and made this weekend a much needed relaxing and refreshing experience. Hope to be able to make this a yearly tradition for a girls weekend. Would be an awesome environment for multi family retreat or small group getwaway or conference. Quiet, relaxing and beautiful view of some of God's greatest creations. So grateful for the opportunity to spend time here.

Lovely weekend in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

What a great getaway house! The house is spotless and pleasant, with lots of beds, and it is well stocked with kitchen supplies, linens, towels---basically everything you could need. Karla is very thorough, professional, and easy to work with. The house is surrounded by woods, so you don't even have to drive to find a hike. There's a nice rocky creek in the community a short walk from the house that is fun to explore. Wonderful view from the deck as well.
