After a day in the sun come back to the chalet and enjoy a great BBQ with cocktails on the scenic 'park like' deck with it's own private babbling creek.

Nestled in the Olympic National Forest it is perfect for the lake lover, adventurous hiker, the active nature lover or sitting by the fire and reading a good book.

There are two parks close to the house. Both offering boat launch, parking, picnic tables and a cove for swimming. The second park offers an additional playground, sandbox, volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, BBQ cabana, bathrooms and a special buoyed off area for small children to swim, splash and play.

About The Owner

My name is Kimberly. As you can tell from the photo I love dogs, nature and the outdoors.

The Owner purchased this chalet in 2005

Why The Owner chose Hood Canal

Lake Cushman is a well kept secret. Away from the hustle & bustle of daily life. It offers so many different and diverse activities. From boating to hiking, diving to oyster digging. The picturesque Olympic National Forest as your backdrop. I have been camping in this location since my children were small and decided to invest in a home so I could share the same peaceful beauty, fun experiences and fond memories that I have of this area with other friends, family and guests.

What makes this chalet unique

You can enjoy boating, fishing, skiing, tubing, kayaking, jet skiing, swimming, sunbathing, golfing and tennis. The Olympics offer over 20 hiking trails from the leisurely to the more strenuous. One of the best hikes is Mt. Elinor once you reach the summit you are enchanted with the view and the family of mountain goats. The town of Hoodsport offers scuba diving, calming, oyster digging, crabbing, several restaurants, shopping and a winery. If you still have any get up and go after a day of sun & fun the Lucky Dog Casino offers a little nightlife.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Nice cabin, room for all. Sweet little creek. Much better lake view than we thought would be.

Access to lake is fantastic - just a brief walk down the road. Fans are needed when its warm as the cabin heats up. Great spot on the lake

Great location and property

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay and felt the property was very reasonably priced for the location and size. The rooms were larger than expected and having 11 people in the house, we did not feel cramped. While we knew it wasn't lake front, the view from the house and patio was beautiful and better than expected. We enjoyed most meals on the patio by the brook and viewing the lake. The kids loved playing around in the brook and adventuring around the property, and the lake access was a short 2 min walk down the road. We also loved how close it was to the national park. We appreciated the newly renovated bathrooms as well and there were plenty of bath towels for everyone.

A few minor inconveniennces were that the basement rooms were slightly damp and musty, but it is a basement. And we found the knifes to be a little dull when doing food prep and could not find a knife sharpener. But most of the little things we needed for food prep we could find and there were enough dishes for everyone.

We would definitely recommend this house and stay there again if we were in the area.

Did a little hiking, did some swimming, enjoyed a nice sunset, and capped the night with a campfire...just what I was looking for, a little R & R!

beautifully relaxing

  • 4 of 5

I really enjoyed our stay at this your home. We had plenty of beds to sleep all of our ladies, the bed were very comfortable. The surround sound was really neat when we got around to watching movies. The internet was a little slow for streaming music, but worked well if there was not too many girls using it all at one time. I rented this location along with 8 other women for a scrapbook retreat and it was loved by all. We took many walks down to the lake and around the surrounding neighborhood. All of the people we ran into were very friendly as well. We had a deer that walked right up to us and visited with us for a while. So much fun. Thank you again.

We had a great stay and the house was exactly as described!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights at this property with 7 teenagers and had a fantastic time. The area and scenery is gorgeous even in the rainy season. The walk down to the lake is short and easy. The house is great! Everything we could need and more. There is plenty of beds, rooms, parking. We used the fire pit, satellite TV, Wifi (even with 7 teens connected I was able to use it). There are even extra fans and heaters if you need them. There are 2 washer and dryers, every pan and utensil needed, a book of local area info, gates on the wrap around porch to contain our dog, so many extra little touches that make a vacation rental amazing. Even a toddler bed, pack n play and high chair for your little one! The pictures do not do the "cabin" justice!

Fantastic

I've always wanted to travel and experience the West. This was a great place to stay while enjoying the awesome hiking trails nearby. The winter was perfect for a nice quiet and secluded getaway while enjoying the Forest with my Boston terrier.
