I am a San Diego guy at heart. As a real estate developer I could have my pick of properties and I have lived in many parts of the U.S. Though I no longer call San Diego my permanent home I wanted a place to come to that embodied all San Diego had to offer. I found that when I bought the Penthouse Suite on Bayside Walk. My family and I love to spend time here. My kids enjoy Belmont Park and riding their bikes around the boardwalks. I enjoy hanging out on the balcony, even when work calls and I have to bring my laptop...is there any better place to work that has this view? NO WAY! I know the enjoyment we have experienced here and I hope your family will have the same wonderful experience which creates memories we cherish forever.
Tracy Ruane, mgr. purchased this condo in 2011
I went to college at the University of San Diego. I knew from the time I first landed in San Diego I would spend a lot of time here.
I love the early mornings at the bay. It's quiet and peaceful. I enjoy my coffee on the balcony and then head out on the bike to ride along the boardwalk. One of the best features is entertaining here. Having your friends and family with you is what life is all about, BBQ and watching the summer fireworks show always puts everyone in a relaxing mood!
The view of the bay was fabulous and the balcony was nicely appointed with table and chairs /lounge chairs. The interior accommodations were very nice too.
The reason for 4 stars: several of the dishes /silverware/glasses were not clean. The dishwasher had food in the drain. It appeared whoever stayed there before didn't rinse the dishes properly and because of that food was baked on dishes and dishwasher was not clean. So, I washed every dish before using. Otherwise it was clean. We also had a hiccup upon arrival. The TV was out--unfortunately when my husband wanted to watch a playoff game. Tracy came right out and had it working within an hour. House phone was out. The cell phone reception is not good in that location. Be prepared for that. Also, there is quite a bit of airplane noise from the airport. I would recommend staying here-- very quiet--- other then periodic airplane noise. I only wished property manager would make sure TV, house phone were working and that dishes are clean etc...
We were so pleased with the condo, it looked just like the pictures and view was incredible and the condo had everything we needed and more. Neighbors were friendly and helpful, area was nice and we felt safe. The mission bay side is definitely quieter than that ocean side with less traffic and people on the beach. The only negative is the cell service is spotty in the south Mission beach area, we were able to get service but it was spotty. However the condo has land lines and great wifi. This would not keep me from staying here again. We loved the condo and San Diego and would love to visit again soon.
The property is a hit because of where it is-the balcony overlooks mission bay on the one side and is just a block and a bit from the Pacific Ocean on the other side. There's plenty of room in the unit-and the four of us never felt crowded. Outdoor dining for four as well as inside for 6 make it plenty roomy. The decor is a bit dated but again we were rarely inside so it was fine. The kitchen is well stocked for pots/pans. We wished there was an electric kettle for tea (or a tea kettle) but we managed by using a small pot. There was NO food items at all except salt and pepper (no oil, spices etc). There are plenty of stores nearby but it would have been nice to have some basics there. (I'll remember next time to pack small packets of spices). It was great having a garage to use as parking can be difficult around there. (It is a small inside spot-we had a Toyota Camry and much longer would not have fit), but the description of the property warned us of this) One of the other great perks was having four beach cruisers to use, which we did! you can jump on the path right outside the unit and ride for almost eight miles around mission bay or hop on the path on the ocean and ride that about 3 miles till it ends and then head on up the road to LaJolla. The only negative is that there is no heat in the unit other than space heaters and we had a couple
of really cold mornings (due to a huge storm that came through). The space heaters were slow to warm things up in the AM as we didn't want to leave one on in the living room while we slept. I'm sure the few cold days we had were unusual, but it's not fun waking up to 57F inside. Overall Id definitely recommend this place as a great beach condo. If you're looking for elegance or sleek or modern this isn't it, BUT if there for the views and location this is a winner!!
We truly enjoyed staying at this condo, and would definitely rent it again. The condo was clean, and had all the amenities mentioned in the description. We loved the location, and felt like we had a private beach on Mission Bay. We also loved being able to use the bikes on the boardwalk along the Pacific, which was just a couple blocks away. If you want to do the Trolley tour of San Diego, you can walk over to the Hyatt and catch a shuttle.
Having a full kitchen was nice, and we found a grocery store very close by to pick up a few items. We also found a Sprouts store a short drive away, which is a great place to get some fresh fish, fruit and vegetables.
Tracy, the manager, was wonderful. She checked in with us and answered any questions we had promptly.
We loved the zoo, the beach, biking/jogging, Point Loma, Coronado....so many options! And the tacos!!! Great tacos wherever you go.
While the ocean-side of Mission Beach was a zoo over Labor Day weekend, this Bay-side location was quiet and relaxing. We parked our rental car in the garage and took quick, inexpensive Uber rides when we wanted to go into the city and not deal with the car. Coffee shop, market, and pizza just down the alley - plus many other options a few blocks down at Belmont.
The condo was very clean and well laid out for our family of 4. The neighbors were very nice and helpful as well.
This is a really beautiful top-floor unit in what has to be one of the best locations on Mission Bay ... spectacular views, very comfortable and extremely well appointed place. Tracy is the absolute best and was very responsive and helpful.
Property is located blocks from Historic Belmont Park with rides and arcades. Just minutes from Sea World, with an awesome view of Sea Worlds nightly summer fireworks show.
