Hi - I bought this wonderful home in 2008 because it's a true escape from my hectic NYC life (I work in the media world). I grew up in the NY area, went to Drew University in NJ and currently live in Manhattan.
Carol Campbell purchased this house in 2008
My blood pressure drops the second I pull into the driveway at Northrup Road. It's a beautiful drive or an easy train ride from NYC - 2 hours door to door either way. However, you truly feel like you're in the middle of the English countryside (although the house is very close to the charming country store and local shops).
Gorgeous trees and wonderful flowers circle the property and the large deck. The charm of a home built in the early 1900's that's perfectly restored. Stunning (if I do say so myself) fabric, artwork and furniture. This place is one of a kind - inside and out!
Hidden by the trees from the highway and from the neighbors, this comfortable, cozy and welcoming house made our summer vacation a relaxing retreat. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and facilities for dinners from barbecue to gourmet The interior aesthetic of the house has been carefully planned with great taste in a form of understated country elegance. The collage of color selection, furniture diversification and tasteful appointments creates a wonderful environment. We enjoyed it so much we booked an early return. It looks much better in person than even in the best photos...it exudes warmth.
The area of Connecticut is delightful with area festivals and fairs during the summer. The local stores and restaurants are charming and original...not national chains...
Sharon, CT is in the heart of bucolic Litchfield County - in the Northwest Corner of the state - on the border of CT, NY and MA. 2 hours door to door from NYC via car or nearby Metro North. Wonderful hiking, wildlife, antiquing, galleries, restaurants, fly fishing, skiing, horseback riding, etc.
