I am a 61 year old husband, father of two wonderful children and Grandfather of three grand kids. In my spare time I play golf with my son and friends. I enjoy the outdoors and living in the Shenandoah Valley, which is truly "Gods Country".
I have often thought, if God owned a motorcycle, the Shenandoah Valley would be his primary destination.
Ben King purchased this cabin in 2012
My home is secluded without being remote. My nearest neighbor is 3/4 of a mile from the cabin. Even with this seclusion I can be in Luray to shop in less than 15 minutes. For those that can't cut the cord I offer cable TV and wireless internet.
We celebrated our daughter's sweet sixteen at your cabin. It was a wonderful choice! The cabin was fully furnished and we didn't want for anything! We took our daughter and her friends over to Lake Arrowhead which is about a mile from the cabin, for a day of swimming and they thoroughly enjoyed it.! The views at the cabin are magnificent! We had a restful weekend, and a fantastic sweet sixteen party! The owners of this cabin are the best! We give it a 5 star rating!
We rented this cabin for our friends and family for our wedding weekend in Luray. The cabins are well stocked with lots of room for everyone to be together. The views are spectacular! There is lots of porch space and grass space to be outside as well. We enjoyed our weekend just being together and the cabin was a huge part of being able to do so. Ben was very helpful with any question we had and he even gave us a quick rundown of Luray. This cabin is a great getaway location for family and friends.
This cabin was great! What a beauty, I loved the rustic scene. It was my birthday weekend and I celebrated it with 5 girlfriends for a long weekend. We enjoyed wine tasting at Wisteria Vineyard, horseback riding at Fort Valley Ranch, and ATV riding with Appalachian Adventures. But the bulk of our time was spent at the cabin. We played pool on the lower level (on pocket needs repair), cooked meals together (money saver), and roasted marshmallows and made s'mores and told stories around the fire pit.
My only recommendation is some type of address sign in front of the driveway. We circled around a couple of times (even called OnStar, lol) trying to figure out where the place was. Although once we go up to the top of that long uphill drive way, I realized that might be my favorite part of the cabin. The fact that it was hidden at the top of that hill. That view was amazing. And the cows that come to the fence was adorable.
One of the girls bed was a little squeaky and with ill fitted sheets. But that is minor compared to the fun we had. I would definitely recommend this cabin and would love to come back with family. Another plus is there is another cabin on the property so if you want to bring a large group you can rent both. (hmm not a bad idea)
Our extended family spent a long weekend here in this like-new cabin in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. It was the perfect fit for three generations with space enough to be together plus areas and separate levels to spread out in. The view from the main living area was a sight to behold; in fact there was beauty in all directions.
We enjoyed most of one day at nearby Arrowhead Lake, and on another day enjoyed a jaunt to the Skyline Drive. Whenever we were at the house, we could enjoy the open grassy spaces outside as well as the decks and inside of the house.
My only suggestions for additions would be to provide bath towels, as bringing them is a an inconvenience for some travelers, and also it would be nice to have a little more seating capacity in each lounging area.
I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it for families as well as couples seeking a beautiful and relaxing setting.
The cabin was perfect for our larger group of wedding attendees! Kitchen supplies were well stocked (tons of wine glasses)! You can see the sunset well from the pile of rocks in the driveway. The driveway was a little steep/intimidating at first but I made it up fine in dry weather in my sedan car. There's a good donut place in town and a 24 hour wal mart for late night snack cravings. Great star gazing but keep the outdoor lights off so the bugs don't congregate.
I booked this cabin for a group of couples for a birthday weekend getaway. We all live in DC so it was a perfect 2 hour drive to the cabin. We all were aware of the hill and gravel road up to the cabin but think maybe a number sign on the main road would help direct. I am glad we got there early because I told everyone else it was the gravel driveway that was not numbered with two lamp posts- which was a good marker. There is a marker on the street for 2310 which was directly across the street!
As for the house, it was beautiful! It was clean when we arrived and perfect amount of space. With two floors and ample bedrooms and bathrooms it was great- the rooms were all a great size as well. As all the other reviews mentioned, the view was incredible! There were neighbors in the cabin next to us but we did not hear them at all. Everything you could need in the kitchen was there too which was great. They even took care of removing the trash afterwards if we consolidated which was a huge help.
Only flaws I would say is the grill was not in the best of shape or the fire pit- we had to put some stuff underneath in order to avoid either falling out but they were both a bit of a fire hazard.
We all agreed we would love to come back next year :)
The view from the deck was outstanding and the cabin was so well maintained. I Was there with my children and grandchildren with two dogs and everyone had a great time. We went to Lake Arrowhead Beach and the kids loved it. We used the fire pit every night and cooked smores. The dogs were fascinated by the cows early in the morning and looked for them when they went out. I would highly recommend this place and I hope to stay there again next summer.
My home is located 7 miles from the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park and 5 miles from the Luray Caverns. I can highly recommend both destinations, especially the Luray Caverns if you never visited the Luray Caverns I can highly recommend them as a destination the whole family can enjoy.
