From the may see some eagles soar above the evergreens and sailboats glide below.

From there you can explore the nearby islands or take your larger vessel on a boating adventure thru the San Juans, Vancouver BC, the Gulf Islands, and Desolation Sound. Within an hour’s drive, are endless hiking opportunities in the Mount Baker National Forest.

Walk, bike, run, or drive down to the old town of Anacortes or the ferry, where you can escape to other nearby San Juan Islands or Victoria BC. It is only a 10-minute walk to Cap Sante Marina, and old town Anacortes' quaint shops, gourmet restaurants, great microbrewery, and a wonderful wine shop.

Looking for a special winter retreat or a peaceful spot to enjoy that long anticipated sabatical, or perhaps a few months to be near family, the Cottage may be perfect for you.

We are the owners of a restaurant in Reno Nv and decided to have our Board Meeting in Anacortes. This cottage was perfect for the 4 of us. We love to cook and the kitchen was beautiful, cozy and yes impressively stocked.

There was a large dining table that was ideal for our meeting. The hot tub was lovely and the decor enchanting. The owner has added such love and attention to detail that it made us feel special. The deer did come right up to us in the yard and the whole feel of the place was magical. The beds were comfortable and the view out of the bathroom window was my favorite. Thank you for sharing this amazing place.

Owner's Response: I am so pleased the Cottage worked so perfectly for your Board Meeting. What a great idea - with only the deer as a distraction. Thank you for such a wonderful review and hope you will plan a return visit! Susan

a relaxing experience in a wonderful setting

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 2 kids rented the cottage for a week. Part of the reason I picked it was the great reviews it had received . It definitely lived up to expectations and then some. The kitchen was extremely well stocked, plenty of good quality towels and nice cozy comforters on the beds. Loved the hot tub,the gas fireplace and the deer that practically walk right up to you in the backyard. The owner has great taste in decorating too. A beautiful spot with a great view. Did not want to ever leave.

A wonderful getaway home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for one week this summer in Cap Sante Cottage and we loved everything about this charming home. The location is quiet and the home has a beautiful view and we loved how close it was to everything. Susan was so helpful with all her suggestions of places to eat and things to do, and we thoroughly enjoyed Anacortes. The home was so comfortable with beautiful furnishings and such a warm and homey feel. I would definitely return if we are in the area again. I highly recommend this home to others. Jane B.

My sister and brother and I came to Anacortes for a family reunion with our cousins. The home had everything we could want. There was so much to do and it was a welcome rest and the end of the day. Thank you Susan for all your help along the way. I would highly recommend this home.

What a difference a year makes

  • 2 of 5

I stayed at this property in 2013, and had a good stay, though the upstairs ceiling did cave in from a serious water leak as I was nearing the end of my stay. It's an old house and things happen--right? Fast forward to my 2014 arrival, the ceiling is fixed, but the smell of wet wallboard/mildew lingers, and in the incessant damp climate, the possibility of mold in the walls was impossible to fully dismiss. Also, unlike last year, the gas fireplace would come on all by itself, even while I was gone, and I found this disconcerting. In talking with the owner, she said it was fine, but she did give me the number of the service people who'd last checked it out. In trouble-shooting the unit, the technician's final opinion was that there was something wrong with one of two parts, but because of the age of the unit, parts were not available, so an actual fix was out of the question. In my mind this very old fireplace is defective. The hot tub failed for the majority of my stay, mainly due to it's age. After a considerable interval, it was replaced, though in the process, I did learn from the owner that unknown trespassers were thought to come over and use the hot tub when they thought the house was empty. Again, a little disconcerting--leave a light on. All things considered, as much as I like this property, I'll be looking for a different house to rent 2015.

Owner's Response: A year CAN make a difference-each year at Cap Sante Cottage is a bit more wonderful! Of all the great guests at the Cottage over the years this is one single unfortunate incident. My guests can rest assured the Cottage is well cared for and continues to offer a wonderful respite to travelers from near and far. It is unfortunate that “Donovan” experienced a single unavoidable situation then chose to write a review misrepresenting the facts. I felt a brief and truthful response to each “claim” would be helpful to guests. This was a deeply discounted winter rental (Dec-April) 1. CEILING: Ceiling did NOT “cave in”. A small portion (2’ x2’) of plaster fell after heavy rains. Contractor removed ceiling to studs, treated, dried for several days, and applied a mildew inhibiting plaster. There is NO lingering “damp wallboard” smell (there is no wallboard). 2. HOT TUB (HT). There were HT issues late Dec-late Feb starting with declining water level. A crack in the HT caused a slow leak. Others using the HT when no one was home proved absolutely NOT to be the case. After several unsuccessful attempts to repair, $9000+ was spent on a new HT ordered mid-Feb,installed mid-March. Through constant communication with renter he was well aware that all possible steps were being taken. This was truly unfortunate but unavoidable. 3. FIREPLACE. I have owned my home since 2004 and the 11-yr FP continues to work beautifully and safely as a source of additional heat. Renter would turn the central heat very low so the factory-preset thermostat activated the FP. Renter was displeased so disconnected thermostat. No parts issues, no random operation, just a great FP functioning as designed. WHY THIS REVIEW-THE FINAL PAYMENT: I apologized for the delay in closing the account, though I knew I was owed for unpaid utilities. Renter responded by telling me to keep the damage deposit and call it even SINCE I provided a house with a “defective HT and FP”. It was important to understand actual costs, make an adjustment for the HT, and fairly settle the balance. Comparing his gas and electric use, both were significantly lower than 2014 for same months and similar temps –completely debunking renter’s claim that “defective HT and FP” resulted in higher costs. A generous rental adjustment was offered. The review is really not about the cottage but the renter’s dissatisfaction with the adjustment. The seeming intent to cause damage was confirmed in a subsequent e-mail.

Seclusion right in town!

  • 5 of 5

We've rented homes across this country and this is at the top of our list. Anacortes is a great jumping off point for San Juan Island adventures and staying at this 'cottage' makes it even more desirable. Read the other reviews - I don't want to repeat except to share that these were our favorites about the place:

- Top notch, well-appointed kitchen - a must for those that love to cook like we do.

- Nice wine glasses - seriously, I can't tell you how many places we've rented that don't offer these! There's even other bar ware for you mix-ologists.

- Gorgeous views and private hot tub.

- Comfy beds and a nice shower plus plenty of towels.

- Conveniently located to anything you'd like to do from cycling to hiking and kayaking to shopping.

- So lovely and homey you won't want to leave. A perfect rainy day place to curl up with a good book or your latest art project.

- Nice communications from owner too.

One thing to note (and it totally wasn't an issue for us) is that the bedrooms and main bath are located up a turning victorian house staircase. Good to know if someone in your party has mobility issues.
