About Bernie Brigman

I've been in the cabinet / millwork business most of my adult life .

I've been married for twenty seven years and we have a twenty one year old son . I've been a Suwannee River fan since my parents had a place not far from ours in the late 60's .

I love kayaking , skiing, scuba , and about any other water sport.

Bernie Brigman purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Bernie Brigman chose North Central Florida

. Although we had a river house some six miles down the river, our new cabin is much more secluded with very little passing traffic as we are located on a dead end street. Our property is 1.77 acres with 365 feet of river frontage .

If you fish or ski , we have a covered boat dock and there are three

boat ramps in close proximity to us .

If you like kayaking as we do , your kayak or canoe may be launched at several sites depending on the length of the trip you want .

You may also float down part of three rivers in a days time . Starting at the itchetucknee , from there down to the Santa Fe , and from the Santa Fe into the Suwannee .

What makes this cabin unique

Swimming and snorkeling is perfect as we are able to go up and down the Suwannee river and the Sante Fe river that is only two miles away. Our location is below all rocky parts of the river allowing one to travel all the way to the gulf. [around 62 miles]

Great stay at a great property!

First of all, what a diamond in the rough!

My brother and I had planned for months to camp at nearby Ginnie Springs for a particular week in June. But the weather forecast turned to rain days before we were to arrive. So, Plan B was this very nice, cozy place in the woods RIGHT ON the banks of the Suwannee River. We couldn't have picked a better place to be - rain or shine.

We both just finished a hectic, stressful Spring season of work. We just needed a week and a place to chill out. THIS is the place.

Getting there wasn't as challenging as we'd thought. Down some dirt roads, twists, then a few turns and then: serenity now!

We rented the two-bedroom cabin. Plenty of room for both of us. Spacious back deck (covered) for talking, reading, playing cards and watching the rain. Two nice, new grills made cooking out easy. And the lot has a long boardwalk leading to a huge floating dock, also covered. Or you can sit out under a lawn umbrella just above the river and drink your coffee.

Inside, we had everything we needed for cooking, etc. The place was very clean and comfortable. We each had our own rooms with king beds and a TV with Netflix available. No cable or satellite - but you won't miss it. We didn't. There was wi-fi in case we needed to search on our iPad for sites, places to go or other springs to visit.

The kitchen is more than adequately equipped. We cooked meals every night, kept groceries in the full-size refrigerator/freezer and all went well.

There are neighbors on both sides but we still felt secluded enough.

Check out was easy (cleaning service included). The owner's communication was FANTASTIC! And, when I realized I had left something important behind, the owner very graciously found it and shipped it back to my home in Georgia. Good people!

This was a great stay and we both felt we'd come here again. Don't hesitate. Book it, enjoy it.

Very quiet. Kitchen was stocked with dishes and silverware. Had a grill on deck, and was absolutely beautiful.

In Touch With Nature

  • 4 of 5

Outside of the cabin, the view was captivating, from the fresh green leaves of the abundance of trees to the glistening flow of water from the Suwannee River, and the beautiful symphony of the wilderness, you will feel so connected with nature, it’s a form of therapy. The location of the cabin is perfect, the sights will capture your heart and soul. I would have given this 5 stars if only there was an iron for us to use in the cabin and only if the light in the living room was working. But overall, it was a good getaway, my husband, cat and I even met Lucky the neighbor’s little dog, he was too adorable!

Nice time

  • 4 of 5

So the trip started off with finding a lock box with no key to enter the cabin. And I was unable to reach the owner. Fortunately home away was able to contact the owner they took care of the situation quickly and made things right.
