About the Home

A sizable unit with all the comforts of home in a location that can't be beat; The Fitzsimmons A is a 3 bedroom loft, 2 bathroom, 3 level townhome situated directly on the Village stroll enabling you to breathe in the Village energy right from your living room. The entrance to the unit is located on the second level of the building and is accessed by 2 flights of stairs.

Living Areas

The spacious open concept main level features comfy couches, a flat screen TV with DVD player, stereo, presto log wood-burning fireplace and a recently renovated kitchen that features stainless steel appliances, granite counters and a breakfast bar that seats 4. The dining area seats 6 comfortably. After a day on the slopes you can relax in the home's sauna located on the second level.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

On the second level, the master bedroom features a queen bed and for added comfort a single vanity sink area. The second bedroom features two twin beds. The separate bathroom on this level features a bathtub with overhead shower and single vanity. Up another level, the third bedroom features a double bed and opens up to the loft area that features 2 double beds - perfect for kids or extra guests. There is a separate second bathroom with bathtub and overhead shower and single vanity on the main living level.

Added Conveniences

Fitzsimmons A features complimentary wireless internet, secure underground parking for one vehicle and the building offers shared laundry facilities. This condo is very spacious, and great for groups. It has an excellent location in the village -- 2 min walk to lifts, and in the midst of tons of restaurants and retail.

But it is not kept in the best repair. There are problems with both bathroom sinks. In the first floor bathroom sink, the cold water faucet is broken. And in the upstairs bathroom, the stopper in the sink isn't working correctly -- if you use it, the sink drains very slowly. (This is not new. It was true when we stayed there a year ago.)

Wi-fi service was intermittent.

In general, I really like the layout and location of this condo. But it is not without problems -- although these could be easily fixed.

Comfortable and central

The first night we had no heat in the living area. The next day we were able to find the fuse box and trigger the fuse which seemed to activate the heat. Two points: when we called for assistance it was after hours so no person to speak with. There is an emergency line and, in fairness, we chose not to call as we didn’t deem it “an emergency” as such. It would have been helpful to have condo specific instructions about troubleshooting issues that may come up (such as this) to enable problems to be dealt with quickly and without being reliant on someone at Whistler Platinum.

Secondly, other condo specific information that would have been helpful is info on the fireplace – it didn’t seem to be working/accessible. Also, info on where the garbage is and recycling guidelines/details would have been helpful

Finally, the website does infer that, given the central location (and it is very central which is great), it could be noisy but for someone unfamiliar with Whistler they may be shocked by how noisy it gets at night.

The condo itself was clean, well equipped and comfortable (once we got the heating sorted out), check-in was fine; we would provide a qualified recommendation for the condo.

The information about the garbage location was a bit vague as you have pointed out, we have updated it to be more specific for all future quests. Information about the fireplace and general information about the property all appeared to be detailed in the guest directory binder. We've owned timeshares in the Fitzsimmons for over 25 years, so we're very familiar with the building and it's location. The building is a bit old, but the units are large, and very homey. We love being in the center of the village, close to everything, even with the inevitable noise from the bars at night. We had just a few problems with the unit: the glass shower door in the 2nd floor bathroom sticks to the degree that we were concerned about even using it. The heating element in the kitchen dishwasher either doesn't work or doesn't work well, as every load of dishes was soaking wet, even when we selected "heat dry". Several electrical outlets didn't work. We were able to find a fuse box and get the outlets in the bathrooms working, but we couldn't get several in the living room area to work. Finally, the kitchen supplies could use some updating. The frying pan was warped, making cooking things evenly a challenge, and we couldn't find any measuring spoons or salad tongs. I would like to emphasize, though, that these were minor inconveniences in an otherwise wonderful stay.

The property is at an ideal location. the condition is fair.

The only problem we found : there is no elevator so we had to carry our lugguage from the road and travel a few flight of stairs to the flat.

It's close to a bar downstairs and people do party till 3 am. You will need to wear ear plugs or be woken up in the middle of the night.
