Our family bought this former rental property in 1992 and reunited every summer for BBQ,s. fishing, swimming and campfires. Now that all our children have grown, we decided to share this beautiful spot with others.
Holly purchased this cottage in 1992
We have tried our best to preserve the natural beauty of this lakefront property. The huge pine and hemlocks keep to property cool in summer. The property faces due west for the most perfect sunsets. We feel privileged to own and share this pristine piece of lakefront property on one of the best fishing lakes in Maine (we have caught salmon, lake trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, large and small-mouth bass, pickerel, and perch...kids can catch fish all day long from the dock!)
The swimming and fishing here on Maranacook Lake are our favorite reasons to spend time here. And we have never seen a more beautiful location for a sunset!
My cousins and I have stayed in this cottage a few weeks over last two years, the whole property is great for groups, as we had 3 of the 4 cottages rented for a week of our stay. Cedars is a bit set back from the water, which is its only downfall. It's a modern upgrade from many camps on the lake. And its location on the water is calm as it gets for the Winthrop side of Maranacook. could benefit from a few more doors, but it adds to the charm.
This was a great place to spend a quiet week with our young daughters who love to swim. The lake was uncrowded, clean and big enough to find quiet beaches on islands to explore. The cottage was clean, well-appointed and really spacious! We swam, went canoeing, read books, played games and found ourselves really relaxed! We loved hearing the loons and watching the bald eagles! Even on rainy days we found things to do in the cottage and in Augusta and Winthrop.
It was a terrific stay and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet week at a beautiful lake in a beautiful cottage!
Wonderful service !!
Clean and new !!
Great memories of my childhood on the lake.
Great memories for our son and his friends !!
My boyfriend and I spent two nights in Maples, a 1-bedroom cabin on Lake Maranacook. The cabin was yards from the shore and had huge windows that provided panoramic views of the gorgeous lake. It was immaculately clean and the perfect size for the two of us. It's located near several small towns and not a long drive from all that Augusta has to offer (although I can't imagine why anyone would want to leave). I would most definitely recommend this property to others, and look forward to staying there in the future (and using additional cabins on the site if more people come!)
We were looking for a place to stay, close to family that moved to the area, but had never heard of "camps" in Maine until we found this. Shared it with another family couple, and family visited as they could. There is more furniture than in the pictures, and more privacy in the loft. Space to spare! Very clean. The owners were very helpful with anything and everything. With our mini-family reunion, we also gained the fun of the lake, swimming and kayaking from the dock, peaceful mornings and spectacular sunsets attended with the call of the loons. The pictures do not do it justice, but I don't know how you can photograph Cedar's beauty, because it it also the smell of pine, the flower garden unfolding, fireflies in the trees, the peace on the water. I took to taking a chair out to the dock to soak it all in. The upstairs toilet didn't work at first (we were the first renters of the season) but it was fixed and working by the next morning. There were gas and charcoal barbeques for our use, and we practically had the entire place to ourselves on the 4th of July. We did some sightseeing up and down the coast while here, but the days we spent in camp were the best. Thank you to Bill and Rick for renting this spectacular place to us! This was way beyond our expectations. I would recommend this to anyone wanting peace and quiet, the comforts of home, and the camping experience.
A wonderful place - quiet and relaxing but close to restaurants and groceries. Nearby trails were great for daily walks in the woods off the road. Accessed by low traffic roadway. We went to sleep hearing loons and woke with coffee on the deck watching the eagles conduct their daily hunting --- magical! I recommended it to a friend who also made reservations. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back next summer!
For a rainy day the capital of Augusta has shopping malls, movie theaters, museums, & historical sites. Just south is the antiquing capital of Maine, the old city of Hallowell known for awesome restaurants, eclectic shops, great live music, galleries, and fun brew pubs and bars.
