About Arnd & Alla
Since 2008 we own part of this old monument building and my wife and I also live in the same building. Occasionally we rent out our guest studio when we don't have international friends and family stay over and when we are available to arrange your stay. We both do have a fulltime job and provide this rental service only for a few weeks out of the year.
Arnd & Alla purchased this Studio in 2008
Why Arnd & Alla chose Grachtengordel-Zuid
The apartment building is a national monument and was built in 1655. It consists of 2 identical warehouses converted into apartments. The story goes that the original owner was trading with the cities Frankfort (Frankfurt) in Germany and Elseneur (Helsingør) in Denmark. Therefor the building has the names Elseneur and Frankfort on the red wooden doors. The apartments are connected by 1 central staircase which was built in the 1970's, unfortunately it has no lift at this time.
What makes this Studio unique
Your studio is located in the same building as our apartment. This is very convenient in case of questions, you only have to walk 1 floor down and knock on our door. Most of the apartment owners live abroad or use it as a weekend property so it feels like you have the whole building to yourself with total privacy!

Great location and clean and quiet
I've stayed here twice. Great apartment, clean and fresh, and quiet.
Location is very good and perfect for exploring the city.
We had a wonderful stay, the apartment was in a great location and was very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. It was great fun to climb the ladder to the bedroom loft.
The hosts are very nice and helpful.
Paul was a great guest. They left the studio very clean and neat. And communication was very easy. We hope to have them back as our guests in the future.
Great apartment as advertised
It is important to state that this apartment is as advertised. It has a loft bed, is located on the 3rd floor and is relatively small. If you know this going in, there are no surprises and it is a great little apartment. The location is terrific, just a few minutes walk to the busier shopping district and old town, but still in the heart of the canal district very near the Rijksmuseum.
The bathroom and sink are on the small size, the stand up shower very nice. The kitchen is all you would need. The sitting area is adequate. It is a good space for 2 people. The bed is size full. My wife and I are used to a King, so this was an adjustment, but we managed. Climbing to the loft is not an issue unless you have physical limitations. If you need a large apartment or bed, you may want to look at another property. The AC and overall comfort of the apartment were great.
The manager Arnd communicated well and made the entire process painless. We would definitely recommend.
We had a great weekend using this little apartment as a base. Very close to shops, restaurants and main museums. It is very well stocked with shampoo and hand wash etc. Lots of towels provided. Be warned that there are a lot of stairs and a ladder to bed under eaves so unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues or a bad back! Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful stay!
This is a fantastic apartment for a fit couple. We had some minor challenges and requests but our hosts did all they could to make our stay wonderful.
The location is excellent. It is very near the Rijksmuseum and easy walking to cafe's, shops, restaurants, and transportation options. We were very thankful that we went with this apartment over one closer to the red light district. Just be aware that when you come home from 8 hours of sightseeing you will have 3 flights of stairs to deal with. :lol Not only would I reccomend this apartment to others, we would happily stay here again!
This apartment is located in the prestigious (World Heritage Site) Canal Belt in downtown Amsterdam. All attractions are nearby. Museums, Bars, Restaurants, Laundromat, Fitness/Yoga, Supermarket are all within walking distance. You cannot be more central than at this spot!
