About Arnd

Since 2008 I own part of this old monument building and my wife and I also live in the same building. Occasionally I rent out your apartment when I don't have international friends and family stay over and when I am available to arrange your stay. I do have a fulltime job and provide this rental service for a few weeks out of the year.

Arnd purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Arnd chose Amsterdam

The apartment building is a national monument and was built in 1655. It consists of 2 identical warehouses converted into apartments. The story goes that the original owner was trading with the cities Frankfort (Frankfurt) in Germany and Elseneur (Helsingør) in Denmark. Therefor the building has the names Elseneur and Frankfort on the red wooden doors. The apartments are connected by 1 central hallway and staircase which was built in the 1970's, unfortunately it has no lift at this time.

What makes this apartment unique

Your apartment is located in the same building as my apartment. This is very convenient in case of questions, you only have to walk 1 floor down and knock on my door. Most of the apartment owners live abroad or use it a weekend property so it feels like you have the whole building for yourself with total privacy.

Terrific apartment in great location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely well appointed apartment situated on one of Amsterdams iconic canals.

Lots of neighbourhood restaurants, a five minute walk to the museums. Most sites in walking distance and convenient local transport on the doorstep.

Great way to experience life in Amsterdam.

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Arnd was a great host and the apartment was fantastic - everything you need and in a great location. Would highly reccomend a stay here. Amsterdam was such a cool place, it was a shame i only had three days to spend there... If I had the opportunity to extend it, I wouldn't of hesitated for a sedond to stay in Arnd's place.

Great apartment - Great location

  • 5 of 5

Although the apartment looks different then the pictures online due to renovations, it was still perfect.....probably even better then the pictures. Even though we had directions on accessing the apartment upon our late arrival, Arnd met us at the door to welcome us to Amsterdam and orient us to the apartment. Even left a bottle of wine to get us started!! The apartment was perfect, beds were comfortable, shower was great. Access to everything in Amsterdam was easy and walkable from one end to the other. Close to bars and places to eat. Felt safe in the area even walking late at night. Would highly recommend for a great stay.

Perfect Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (two adults and two teens) recently spent 2 nights in this fabulous apartment. The apartment itself is AMAZING and I can’t imagine finding another place in Amsterdam that would be better. The location is fantastic, everything we needed was very nearby and we were able to walk to all the sites.

The apartment was very clean and fully stocked, and my favorite part was the book that contained instructions for the appliances and maps to the closest grocery store and bank! We also appreciated the strong wi-fi signal. Overall a perfect stay.

We’ve stayed at a lot of apartment rentals and this one rates at the top! We will definitely stay again when we are back in Amsterdam.

Wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was beautiful, clean, and just as seen in the pictures. The owner and his girlfriend were there to meet us and were very kind. They answered all of our questions. They even printed out some travel documents for us on their printer. The location was fantastic and an easy walk to all of the places in the historic district. We would stay here again when we are in Amsterdam!

Beautiful apartment in a great location!!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a beautiful historical apartment with modern features in a great location this is the apartment for you. Arnd is a wonderful host and makes your stay pleasurable and comfortable. The apartment is located on the Prinsengracht which is a beautiful canal and is in close proximity to the Rijksmueseum and the Leidsplein. We took the train from Schipol to Amstrdam Centraal and then the tram to the Prinsengracht and it was very easy. The apartment is located closely to the Prinsengracht tram stop so even with all of our bags it was not that bad of a walk. We were traveling with another couple so we had a total of 4 people and the apartmentickets and it was very comfortable and everyone had plenty of room. I would like to add the apartment is on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator so if you are not comfortable with stairs then this would not be a good choice for you. Overall a great stay and I would highly recommend staying here!!
