My wife and I have long enjoyed the Mendocino Coast and visited frequently as weekend get-aways. We were fortunate to meet many locals and eventually locate a home for sale that we fell in love with.
Our favorite feature of this vacation home is how utterly relaxing it is. Even when we visit with all intentions to accomplish work away from work, the relaxation gene kicks in unexpectedly, and all tensions or stress from our work-a-day life melt away.
I was a little concerned because the description included "rustic", which means different things to different people, however this home is charming, spacious and well equipped. Although it's in a gated community, it's very secluded and quiet. Perfect for a comfortable, relaxing vacation.
My wife, 6 year old daughter and Brittany Spaniel just enjoyed a five night vacation at this wonderful home. My wife's parents drove in from Arizona and stayed with us during this time. The house is conveniently located close to Hwy 1, just south of Albion but it is secluded enough to offer privacy and a great view of the Pacific off the deck and even from the hot tub. Very nice having two bedrooms for our family on the top floor and one for our in-laws on the bottom. Stove was convenient for heating home during night. Fire pit off back porch was used several times to make smores. Owner has purchased quality Samsung appliances which made cooking and laundry a snap. Owner (Stephen) was very easy to communicate with and quite professional in his approach. Our dog loved roaming around the perimeter of the house looking for birds and butterflies to chase. Home has a special closet with family games to play. Got a kick out of the wooden free throw game. Living room has very large screen TV, which we used for watching the NBA Finals on--very nice. Convenient to have Wifi available, too. All beds were comfortable. Kids room has a small nook built into wall behind bed that our daughter enjoyed watching movies in. House is in quiet subdivision which was nice for taking ocean-view walks. Would definitely consider staying here again. Thank you for sharing your home with us, Stephen!!
We drove from Sacramento to North Coast.....our car broke down in San Rafael. Had to rent a car to complete trip. Once we got to the house it was great. Very spacious and everything was as described. Then the mechanic called from San Rafael and we were shocked at what the cost of repair was and had to leave early to accommodate. We called the owner and explained the situation and he allowed us to leave 2 days early...which he did not have to do....so hats off to him for being considerate of our situation, but all in all it was a great stay..we enjoyed the scenery and peacefulness. Many thanks again for the consideration.
Nice little seaside hideaway near Albion in the Mendocino and Fort Bragg area. We enjoyed our stay here with our kids and dog. Hot tub was very nice to sit in and listen to the ocean waves. Main bathroom is a little small, but the upstairs one is huge. Kids found a fun little "Harry Potter bedroom" that they slept in while we were there. If you want to stay in the cabin the whole time its great, if you want to go see things, then you have to travel up or down the road a little ways to get to any sight seeing spots, restaurants, or beach access. Owner was super responsive and very helpful. Would bring my family and stay here again.
This home really met our family's needs - a bedroom on the first floor for my mother and a dog-friendly home for us. The location is close to many wonderful places - Mendocino, Elk, Fort Bragg - where we could walk our dogs and enjoy the ocean. Everyone commented how comfortable their beds were, and we (on the second floor) appreciated the large bathroom! Thank you for opening your home to us.
We loved our stay at this private ocean view home. Although it is a partial ocean view it is quit nice and the sound of the waves and the fresh sea air make this feel very ocean front. The many French doors let in lots of light and when open the ocean sounds and breezes move through nicely. We liked the privacy in this gated community. The home is tucked in the trees with plenty of space and no homes within view. The hot tub on the deck is spacious and offers a nice ocean view. We found the home well stocked with everything, especially the kitchen where we even found cast iron skillets, our favorite way to cook. The upstairs bathroom has a clawfoot tub and the double shower is downstairs. The home is somewhat modest but cozy with plent of room and a good value. There was no extra charge for our dog and the cleaning fee was very reasonable at $100. It is close to Mendocino with its many art galleries and small shops. Go north or south for magnificent coastal drives, hikes, and beach walks. We highly recommend parking in the town of Elk and walking down to the beach. Several sea caves and natural bridges make it a special place. We also found a large abalone shell! Don't count on the WiFi, it did not work for us. My iPad worked well though with Verizon service.
