About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

You'll enjoy a one of a kind vacation experience in this lovely home. There are so many things you can do while vacationing in our area. Lake Sutherland boarders on the Olympic National Park. Such features as Lake Crescent, Merrymere Falls, and fantastic hiking trails are only minutes away. You will be a short drive away from such day trip adventures as Hurricane Ridge, SolDuc hot springs, ocean beaches, the ferry to Victoria, and Forks the home of Twilight fame. Lake Sutherland offers seasonal fishing to those with a Washington state fishing license.

Each bedroom is a master suite with its own bathroom. Enjoy sitting in one of two sunrooms that overlook Lake Sutherland. Grab a book and relax, or play on the lake. You can bring your boat or jet ski and tie off at our dock. Our lake is a great place to ski, wakeboard, tube, fish, or simply relax and take in the scenery.

The fall colors are spectacular. Our winters are generally mild. In the late fall, winter, and spring a creek flows by this cabin. Crack open a bedroom window and fall asleep to the sound of our gentle creek.

About Winston Wilson

In 2010 we bought another waterfront home across the lake on a large parcel. It has become our primary residence with the possibility of adding a rental cottage on that property. We love the lake life.

Winston Wilson purchased this house in 2000

Why Winston Wilson chose Port Angeles

We had lived in the home we are currently renting on VRBO since 2000. We love Lake Sutherland and bought a cabin across the lake that has becoming our new home. The mountains that surround our lake give the feel of being in one of the great western mountain resort settings.

What makes this house unique

I love to go out on the lake and Jetski, water ski, wakeboard, tube, pull our grand kids behind the boat, or just sit out on the dock and read a book.

Stunning!

  • 5 of 5

The craftsmanship that was put into this home is remarkable. The interior, while stunning and functional was absolutely spotless. I never would have thought this home was a rental. Just bring your clothes and food and everything else is there. Plenty of linens, toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towels, soap. It has a kitchen with all the dishes, bowls, pots and pans you need. Seating for dinner and lounging. Great sofas and beds. Easily accommodated my family of 4. We spent the week after Thanksgiving in this home and it was very enjoyable. We plan to go back in the summer to enjoy being right on the lake with the dock. The location of the house is spot on. It's a quick 15 minutes into the Safeway in Port Angeles. During the week we were able to do day trips out to Forks, the Hoh rain forest, Rialto Beach, La Push and First, Second, Third Beach, Hurricane Ridge, Salt Creek Park, Marymere Falls, Ediz Hook and be back to enjoy a nice dinner, relax and play board games. Our daughters, 8 and 5, loved the trip and the house was great for them. With two living areas, and three bedrooms, there was space where one could play and the other read, Mom could rest and Dad could cook and everyone was happy. I can't recommend this house more. It's fantastic and the owners are too. They truly created a one of a kind getaway that you will love.

Was the listing description accurate regarding the location, layout, amenities, etc ? Yes.

Was the property clean and well-maintained ? Yes!!!

Did the owner provide good customer service ?Yes.

Would you recommend this property to your friends or relatives ? Absolutely.

Absolutely wonderful place! Everything was incredibly neat, clean, and we'll appointed.

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience with VRBO and it was without a doubt one of the nicest vacation rentals we have ever had. My wife, our daughter (under 2 years), and myself stayed here for 3 nights. We loved the house itself, it was spacious and had room for sharing with another family if we so desired, but was a great escape for the threeof us as well. There was everything supplied that we needed; towels, linens, kitchen items, paper towels, hand soap, laundry items, and more.

The view of the lake off the private dock was something we enjoyed immensely and our daughter loved watching and feeding the ducks.

Nearby in Port Angeles there are restaurants and the ferry to Victoria, B.C. We definitely hope to be coming back in the summer and have converted to VRBO indefinitely!

Beautiful cabin in nature's playground

  • 5 of 5

My family rented this cabin for my husband's 65th birthday. It was our first outing since our two new grandchildren were born and we were a little little leary of taking two recently mobile babies to a strange place. Between us, we've done a lot of renting on VRBO, but this was our favorite, both for the atmosphere surrounding it and the lovely cabin itself.

The cabin is BEAUTIFUL, just rustic enough to remind you you're in the woods, with wood walls, ceiling and exposed log beams, but with all the comforts you could want: three bedrooms and a sleeping loft area, a huge completely stocked kitchen and common sitting area. The downstairs bedroom has a huge soaking tub. There is even a little kids playroom off of the upstairs bathroom. The scenery is captivating. The cabin is right on a large lake with a glassed in porch and large breakfast table overlooking it, and a balcony beyond that. The downstairs bedroom has access to the lake, as does the upstairs porch via some stairs. There are 3 bathrooms!

There was plenty of space to spread out. The downstairs was perfect for the two families with the babies, away from the noise of the rest of us upstairs. Everything that could be needed was provided, including BABY GATES! We did bring playpens.

It was a perfect cabin for getting away from the weather, letting the kids nap while the adults played games, and taking some short outings into the national park. I can't wait to come back at a better time of year and take full advantage of the lake, the lovely porch (which was a little brisk for eating on this time of year), and the beauty of the penninsula and all there is to do on it.

The only minor negative thing for us was the check out time of 10 AM. Getting our crew and two babies breakfast and then cleaning up was a push....lucky we have an all hands on deck group.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend. You have a beautiful cabin and you have really thought out the design and creature comforts. We will be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to give us a great review. Just a few notes of clarification for future inquiries, we do have 3 and 1/2 bathes. there is a powder room off of the kitchen / living room area. Also because the house is large and we always want to have it thoroughly ready for the next guests, it takes a while to get it ready, especially when we have a same day turn over. If you need extra time to get packed up and out, call us we may be able to give you an extra hour. Thanks again Winston and Connie

Outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful home. We had plenty of room, beautiful views and a fully stocked kitchen for making our meals. Honestly, we do not have one complaint. The last night we lost electricity due to a storm but Winston had Lanterns and flashlights all ready to go. We were still able to cook, play games and enjoy the warmth and beauty of the home. We will definitely be back!

Spent our Thanksgiving holiday here. It was wonderful. The home is beautiful and so clean. All the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are decorated so cute. The location is great. I want to go back in the summer. Highly recommend.
