You are ON THE WATER. Walk out your front door and down the private walkway into the Caribbean. Swim and snorkel over coral reefs at water’s edge that are home to over 10 species of colorful tropical fish. A short way out is a broad sandbar 3 to 5 feet deep that is excellent for swimming.

Sip morning coffee on our dock at water’s edge and see the sunrise paint morning clouds pink, purple, and gold. Enjoy breakfast at the gazebo dining table. Relax in the hammocks. Grill your evening meal on our shaded veranda while you catch the cooling breezes and watch the sunset.

We provide four kayaks that can be launched from our sea walkway for exploring Rainbow Bay.

Rainbow Beach is a minute stroll away. Shallow and calm it is a wonderful beach for kids and adults and offers great snorkeling along the jetty. Relax under tiki huts with picnic tables and benches. We provide noodle floats, beach towels, and beach chairs. It is a ten minute walk from Dolphin House to the Atlantic side of the island where you will find more beaches to explore.

Dolphin House offers privacy and year round comfortable living inside as well as out. Our huge veranda has comfortable seating areas, tables for dining that sit four or six, two loungers, a propane grill, and many potted plants that contribute to a cozy atmosphere.

Two of our three bedrooms have sea views and en suite bathrooms. These bedrooms are situated at opposite ends of the home with kitchen and living/dining area in between. This floor plan provides privacy and distance. The third bedroom with bath off the central hallway has a view of gardens front and side. Open the doors and windows and enjoy natural breezes from the Caribbean and the Atlantic. Ceiling fans and standing fans in all rooms contribute to additional air flow.

Just outside our veranda doors you can enjoy noodle floats, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, hammock lounging, and grilling without ever having to get into a car.

But of course Eleuthera offers so much more. Be sure to explore deserted beaches, local community shops and restaurants. Meet friendly people with welcoming smiles. Visit Eleuthera and Dolphin House. You will want to return.

About Roger Patterson

Retired couple. Spend 4 months a year at Dolphin House in various seasons.

Roger Patterson purchased this villa in 2005

Why Roger Patterson chose Bahamas

We discovered Eleuthera in 2002 when we were visiting a relative who had an island home. We loved the island, the friendly people, the beautiful deserted beaches, the warm Caribbean Sea and the dramatic Atlantic Ocean just a few minutes across the island. It was a quiet place close to nature without the distractions of crowded tourist attractions. We bought our beautiful home on the Caribbean Sea in 2005 and set to work immediately to make it more beautiful. We spend several months there each year in different seasons expanding the gardens and making improvements to the house. We are project people and we enjoy and take pride in making our home a comfortable and welcoming place to share with our many rental guests.

Our daughter Kendra helps us to manage the booking process for Dolphin House.

Fantastic spot in Rainbow Bay

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for opening your home to visitors. It is such a beautiful location. You never get tired of the view. The house is perfectly equipped with everything you need from water shoes and snorkels to kayaks and coolers. Swimming from your path was our favourite thing to do. It was a perfect vacation spot for our family of four with two boys in their 20s. This was our fifth trip to Eleuthera, but first time to dolphin house. It won't be our last.

A wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The Dolphin House is a wonderful place to stay. We agree with all of the other reviews, so will only add a few other observations. The house was spotless when we arrived and we later came to appreciate all of the hard work that goes into keeping the Dolphin House pristine. On our last day, Lisa, one of the ladies that works along with Brenda Stubbs, the caretaker, arrived a little before we left to get a jump start on cleaning the veranda. She actually took the gas grill apart and cleaned it, wiped down each chair and table, cleaned the windows and swept and mopped the deck. It was spotless and that was just the outside! Another groundskeeper was out front weeding, cleaning up leaves, pruning bushes, etc. This house is WELL taken care of! We really feel that we picked the best house on the island for both location and comfort.

The other thing that really stood out to us were the people on the island. They are the most humble and kind people that you will ever meet. We would see or meet someone one time and the next time they saw us, it was as if we were old friends. It was a priceless experience and I'm so glad that my kids got to experience this too.

Roger and Margie are wonderful people to deal with, very helpful and accommodating. The house is well-stocked. It has everything that you could possible think of .......and well labelled!

We could go on, but don't want to repeat what other reviewers have already said. We highly recommend this house and hope to be able to stay here again.

Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from two amazing weeks at Dolphin House! What a dream! The house is very nice and the huge veranda is fabulous. We went to a lot of other beaches, Lighthouse, Ten Bay, Alabaster, Gaulding Cay, etc, and I have to say, some of the best snorkeling was right there in Rainbow Bay. Even if you didn't rent a car for your entire stay, you could stay entertained and busy right from the house. Several nice Atlantic side beaches are close enough to ride the bikes to. We saw queen angelfish, starfish, 3 kinds of rays, tubeworms, grouper and dozens of other species of beautiful fish at Rainbow beach. We found lots of sand dollars right in front of the house. Sitting on the veranda in the evenings we saw a whale and dolphins. We absolutely loved being able to swim or kayak right from the property. The herbs in the garden were great to have on hand and we used some when cooking our meals. I was pleasantly surprised to find the lemon grass! I think we found the best rental on the island! The people of Eleuthera are so friendly and we felt completely safe everywhere we went. Kean, Billy and Brenda are wonderful and I recommend the Stubbs BBQ to anyone staying in the area. We hope to return soon!

When you show up and open the front door and look up and all you see is BEAUTIFUL Caribbean you know you have reached paradise. We arrived and were greeted by Keen at the airport with a car. Already familiar with the island he helped with the luggage and we were on our way. Brenda and Billy the care takers stopped by later that evening to introduce themselves. What a lovely couple and so hospitable for anything one would need. We did need extra lounge chairs and they offered the ones right out of there yard. We had concerns one late evening and they came right over. There BBQ! Is a must on the weekends.

The house had all anyone could need for a perfect get away from the bikes, kayaks, snorkel equipment and all types of rafts to float on. The beach being a stone throw away is a added bonus. You meet the friendliest people that just love the location you have The house also had every and anything you could imagine. So grateful Margie and Roger share there piece of Paradise!

It does show they really take time and maintain a beautiful house. We hope to be back very soon!! Thanks again! Missing the gazebo already.

An Amazing slice of Paradise on a Beautiful Island

  • 5 of 5

The Dolphin House is the place to be on the beautiful island of Eleuthera! We felt at home the minute we walked through the doors in the front and fell madly in love when we walked through the doors to the back. The ocean is right there - beautiful, blue and inviting. The house has everything you need for a special vacation - the kayaks were great, the bikes in excellent condition and enough coolers, towels and carriers to spend the day away. Although, you may not want to leave the Dophin House, but do - Eleuthera is a fabulous island to wander around and find amazingly empty and beautiful beaches. Make sure to stop by Kerwin's Conch Salad stand in Governor's Harbor for the BEST fresh conch salad ever. BBQ at the Stubbes' was incredibly delicious - don't miss it! We loved cooking our fresh catches at the house and relaxing in the gazebo to relish the sunsets. Roger and Margie have a lovely home that we are so lucky they make available to those who use VRBO. We would love to return!

Wow! What a great place! The location of the Dolphin House was perfect. The water was right there, so peaceful and private! The Dolphin House felt like home, it had everything we needed and more! The house was so clean and well kept. The pictures in the listing didn't do The Dolphin House justice. Beautiful!! Roger and Margie responded with answers to our question very quickly, and gave us great information on the Island!

The gardens around the Dolphin house were so beautiful and well kept. We loved having breakfast, dinner and watching sunsets from the gazebo and the huge back porch. We used the grill on the porch about every night, grilling fresh seafood we bought from a local fisherman in James Cistern.

One night we went to The Rainbow Inn for sunset dinner, it was very good, great drinks too!

The kayaking was amazing, the water so clear, you could see everything, all kinds fish, starfish etc… We would stay out for hours!

A rental car is a must! We rented a Jeep from Keen Stubbs Rentals. He met us at the airport with the Jeep, and escorted us to the Dolphin House. He was great!

We did drive around the island to explore the other beaches etc…Beautiful! Eleuthera does not have a lot of signs, so if your looking for a beach, etc.. you have to guess what dirt road it is. This makes it very adventurous! We saw amazing views and beaches!

Local People are so friendly!! Everyone waves at everyone and smiles!! If your looking for a non tourist like place, The Dolphin House on Eleuthera is perfect! Very quiet and peaceful and beautiful!

We would love to visit again!

Thank You, Roger and Margie for sharing you amazing second home!
