Guestbook comments from the owner

Today is Ed's birthday and we could not have found a better place to spend it than right here at "Serenity on Cedar".

I had either forgotten or possibly never heard what it is like to experience stillness, calmness, quiet time like we have here. "Serenity" is a perfect way to describe the feeling that we experienced.

I loved waking up and seeing the fog over the mountains cross the lake. We watched the wind blow across the water and enjoyed the sounds of the water running down the creekbed beside of the cabin.

For several years I have wanted to spend a weekend away in a log cabin in the mountains, but the opportunity never presented itself until now. This has been a wonderful place and time beyond what I had imagined. Normally when we travel, we drive around and check out all the local sites. Staying here at Serenity on Cedar leaves me with no desire to look any place further. There just cannot possibly be anything better or more to see than is right here.

We thank you for sharing this beautiful place with us.

serenity on cedar

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was more than we expected. The different levels made it very private for the family to be together.

Everything was provided for cooking and they had a lot of board games for enjoyment.

The cabin was very clean and lake was beautiful.

I will go back and try it out in the summer months as well!

Western Carolina University Graduation

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this cabin for four days for the graduation of our granddaughter from WCU during May of 2017. Everyone had a wonderful time, especially the Graduate and her friends. They explored the lake, hiked the waterfall trail and totally enjoyed themselves. We tried a little fishing but the weather did not cooperate. It was still fun. At night everyone would relax in front of the fireplace, make smores and enjoy our grandson playing the guitar. It was a perfect conclusion to four years of hard work for her and was enjoyable to us to have been part of it all.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is simply beautiful. Two levels of wrap around porches complete with rocking chairs, porch swings and patio tables and chairs. All with a wonderful view of the mountains and lake. Peaceful and relaxing. All furniture, linens, kitchen wares were in very good condition with the exception of the Mr Coffee in the downstairs kitchen. The keruig saved the day and we survived just fine lol. The owner called us just as we got there about the Direct TV acting up on a few of the tvs and offered to have a repairman come but we declined. Just shows they check the property to ensure a smooth visit. Nice! The only issue we had was the king size bed could use a new mattress. This is "issue" is a personal preference for a soft pillow top bed and it could be considered a non issue for others.

However, those with a fear of heights (me!!) may hyperventilate a bit over the steep driveway. But, it's in the mountains and one should expect some hairpin curves and "scenic views". The cabin is a 3 hour drive to Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain. We did a day trip there and saw many places for whitewater rafting along the drive. (there's that scenic stuff again). I found the drive to be horrifyingly beautiful.

I am so happy the owner recommended Signal Ridge Marina. I can't say enough about our day on Lake Glenville! Wonderful people, beautiful lake with waterfalls. Amazing! Also recommend a trip into Cashiers for a visit to Bucks Coffee Shop. The owner gave some tips on local hotspots and had really good coffee and breakfast sandwiches.

We did have a thunderstorm roll in during our visit and I loved the ability to sit on the lower deck and watch it from the hammock! We didn't use any of the watercraft but my husband did some fishing from the dock and caught bass. We truly enjoyed our visit and hope to return with our son and his family for a longer stay. Even with my fear of heights!

Owner's Response: Pam, So glad you had a wonderful time and enjoyed our cabin. Thanks for letting us know about the coffee maker and mattress. We have a new coffee maker for the main kitchen and two new plush mattresses for both the king and queen bedrooms on the main level. All should be in good order for our future guests. We look forward to having you come back again. Warmest regards, Carol

Serenity on Cedar was the perfect place to spend Christmas!!! It's such a beautiful place that it's easy to make yourself feel at home right away!!! The view from the cabin itself is mesmerizing. We went out kayaking and were able to take in the beautiful scenery. Our family was beyond content...Thank you for allowing us to create/capture beautiful memories at SOC.

Serenity is like a little preview of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Serenity on Cedar many times during the beautiful Fall leaf season. The house is wonderful, the view is awesome and the owners are great to work with. I am reluctant to give the glowing review that it deserves, because it's like our little secret place and we don't want to share....
