Overview

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Only five minutes from downtown Santa Fe, yet undisturbed from any city noises, the Tesuque Hill guesthouse shares two and a half acres of land and stonewalled gardens with the owners’ home. It is a separate cottage with spectacular views of the Tesuque valley and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A private stone patio with fireplace on the view side and a covered porch on the garden side surround the entire house so you may take full advantage of the beautiful views or the pleasant shade of the garden. In the spring, summer, and fall, the intimate glow reflected off the sunlit Sangre de Cristo mountains lights the lush green valley. In the winter, after a snowfall, the valley's bright pristine snowscapes are dazzling.

Your guesthouse is a Santa Fe style home with vigas, wooden ceilings, and tile floors throughout. It is decorated with exquisite ethnographic art. Inside the house you find a spacious fully equipped kitchen and dining area with a French door to the patio and a comfortable living room with a fireplace and large view windows. The bedroom has a queen bed and a French door opens to your private patio. You may enjoy the views even from the bathroom, which has a large tiled bathtub and a separate shower. In the living room a queen sofa bed can sleep two additional guests. Built-in closets offer plenty of space for your belongings.

The home is within comfortable walking distance of the famous Tesuque Village Market, El Nido, Shidoni Foundation and sculpture garden, and the Windsor Trail. It is only minutes away from the Santa Fe Opera and the historic Santa Fe Plaza.

The owner, William Siegal, loves meeting people from all over the world and sharing tips to discover the unique attractions of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico.

Why The Owner chose New Mexico

Very private and quiet country setting minutes from downtown. Secluded hiking and running trail right from the house.

What makes this cottage unique

We especially love the unique views and light our home offers of the Tesuque valley and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. We enjoy making these pleasures available to our guests. Our guesthouse is decorated with rare textiles and objects from pre-Columbian, Asian, and African cultures from the William Siegal Gallery.

Guestbook comments from the owner

8/18/10 – 8/24/10: We found this guest house from a friend that has a house in the same area. This was a charming one bedroom guest house with amazing views. The owners, who live in the main house are very welcoming and really went out of their way to make us feel at home. I look forward to going back and having a glass of wine on the porch while I watch the light play against the mountains. We had a great time!!

Relaxing, quiet getaway on a mountaintop.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a very relaxing 3 night stay here. We certainly loved the spectacular view of the mountains and the sunsets while setting on the patio. You could even hear the river running below in the valley. The house's location provided very easy and quick access to downtown without having to stay downtown.

A wonderful guesthouse.

  • 5 of 5

The guesthouse is exactly as shown and described on the website. It is very quiet and secluded, just a few minutes from Sante Fe. Other attractions, like Bandelier National Monument and Abiquiu are within an hour's drive. The house is clean and well stocked. We would stay there again.

Clean, quiet, and soaked in morning light

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful albeit brief stay in early May. Coffee at sunrise is to die for. From the porch guests can see the light break over the mountains to the east and see the colors paint the mountains to the west. Morning bird songs cap it off.

The house is clean and has all the accommodations one might need to never leave (save for a trip to the grocery store). Location is close to everything, but far enough away to feel private. Bed is best for those who prefer a firm mattress. Futon folds down for another sleep surface.

Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect vacation getaway

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been happier with our stay here. The house and area are even better than the pictures. The house is exquisitely decorated, peaceful and quiet. The location, in a beautiful valley is equally so. We took advantage of its location to frequent Santa Fe and Native American cultural sites, but also to relax in the sunny solitude it offers. There are ridge trails to run/walk with stunning views, which is important to us, and plenty of space at the house to do anything you could possible want to do. We cooked the vast majority of our meals in, after picking up our food at Trader Joe's, but could have easily eaten out at any number of great and close restaurants. My husband was able to pop down to the local market for a newspaper every morning, and perhaps pick ups treat or two. In short, this location and house offered everything we needed and could have asked for. We highly recommend this location and would absolutely come back should we come to NM again.

Enjoyed Our Stay

  • 4 of 5

Nice place with plenty of room and a large porch. We like being outside of town, and this place fit the bill perfectly with the added bonus of only being a few minutes from town. The beds are not terribly comfortable and there were a lot of spider webs, especially in the bathroom. Also, we had two wash cloths for the 6 nights, so I would take additional linens if you plan to stay for very long. These are the only concerns we had during the stay and otherwise were very pleased.

Owner's Response: No excuse for the cobwebs except the ceilings are pretty high. I have had no complaints about the one bed until now but will buy a new mattress this week. The second bed is a futon and some folks just don't like futons. Happy to change linens at any time but was never asked. Also, we provide a washer and dryer in the main house that can be used at anytime.

Secluded Casita in Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

What a find this casita is! It is secluded and private in a very beautiful setting and fully equipped and comfortable for a long stay. We stayed here two wonderful weeks in February. Just ten minutes to the Plaza, the Opera is even closer. Gabrielle and the owner William were very responsive whenever we had a question, but also quite considerate of our privacy. The casita is actually much better than the pictures show. Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Thank you and, as always, it was our pleasure. The cat is eating a lot.
