Overview

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Only five minutes from downtown Santa Fe, yet undisturbed from any city noises, the Tesuque Hill guesthouse shares two and a half acres of land and stonewalled gardens with the owners’ home. It is a separate cottage with spectacular views of the Tesuque valley and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A private stone patio with fireplace on the view side and a covered porch on the garden side surround the entire house so you may take full advantage of the beautiful views or the pleasant shade of the garden. In the spring, summer, and fall, the intimate glow reflected off the sunlit Sangre de Cristo mountains lights the lush green valley. In the winter, after a snowfall, the valley's bright pristine snowscapes are dazzling.

Your guesthouse is a Santa Fe style home with vigas, wooden ceilings, and tile floors throughout. It is decorated with exquisite ethnographic art. Inside the house you find a spacious fully equipped kitchen and dining area with a French door to the patio and a comfortable living room with a fireplace and large view windows. The bedroom has a queen bed and a French door opens to your private patio. You may enjoy the views even from the bathroom, which has a large tiled bathtub and a separate shower. In the living room a queen sofa bed can sleep two additional guests. Built-in closets offer plenty of space for your belongings.

The home is within comfortable walking distance of the famous Tesuque Village Market, El Nido, Shidoni Foundation and sculpture garden, and the Windsor Trail. It is only minutes away from the Santa Fe Opera and the historic Santa Fe Plaza.

The owner, William Siegal, loves meeting people from all over the world and sharing tips to discover the unique attractions of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico.

Why The Owner chose New Mexico

Very private and quiet country setting minutes from downtown. Secluded hiking and running trail right from the house.

What makes this cottage unique

We especially love the unique views and light our home offers of the Tesuque valley and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. We enjoy making these pleasures available to our guests. Our guesthouse is decorated with rare textiles and objects from pre-Columbian, Asian, and African cultures from the William Siegal Gallery.

Guestbook comments from the owner

8/18/10 – 8/24/10: We found this guest house from a friend that has a house in the same area. This was a charming one bedroom guest house with amazing views. The owners, who live in the main house are very welcoming and really went out of their way to make us feel at home. I look forward to going back and having a glass of wine on the porch while I watch the light play against the mountains. We had a great time!!

Beautiful, secluded home within 10 minutes of the plaza.

  • 4 of 5

This property was exactly what we were looking for: peaceful, secluded, beautiful views but with easy access to town. The home is stocked with everything one might need and is so lovely and cozy--you definitely feel like you are in Santa Fe! I would have given it five stars, but we didn't realize there was no central A/C. It wasn't much of a problem, even in July, but I do prefer it be a bit cooler while I sleep so that took some getting used to. They do have several fans available and all of the windows open, so there certainly is a way around the warm evenings. We also were wishing some of the trees were trimmed back as several of the incredible views were blocked. Aside from that, it truly was perfect. Billy was warm and welcoming and then we rarely saw him and were allowed to feel like we were all alone. We had one of the best vacations in recent memory and will definitely be returning.

Tesuque Property

  • 3 of 5

I enjoyed my stay with your property. As I did find it more than uncomforable due to

the climate, I would suggest that you replace all those very noisy and not so effective

floor and table fans, with two ceiling fans that would not only cool, but do it quietly, and

give a much better appearance. This is a nice proprty and deserves better than the random

fans that just kept us uncomfortable and awake due to the loud noise and heat..

Loved it!

  • 4 of 5

The location, both of the guest house itself in the property and relative to Santa Fe, was wonderful for us. Quiet, relaxing, majestic views and sunsets, is what we needed to break away from the dense and hectic Los Angeles life. Thank you Bill and Gabrielle for making our stay smooth and pleasant. We can recommend this property without hesitation.

Beautiful, quiet property a short drive from the plaza

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was beautiful and very peaceful. We enjoyed having the full kitchen to have breakfast at home each morning and do a little bit of cooking for other meals. It was just a couple of minutes to the highway and then a quick drive into town. We also made several day trips north (Bandelier, Ghost Town, and rafting) that were each about an hour from the cottage.

I agree with an earlier reviewer that it would be great to have more washcloths and dishtowels on hand. I understand that laundry is available in the main house (in theory; it was locked when I wanted to use it), but it's silly to have to do laundry to have a clean washcloth each day. You can buy a six-pack of them at Target for $3.58. :)

My only other critique was that everything dripped...kitchen and bathroom sinks, shower, toilet ran. Seems particularly wasteful in a desert environment.

Overall it was a very positive experience and I'd recommend staying here for a family of 4 or fewer (there were 3 of us).

Owner's Response: Thanks for the response. We were finally able to get the plumber in and the drips have been taken care of. The dish towels will be taken care of today. Glad you enjoyed you stay Bill
