About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains located in a private gated community with paved roads. Our Log Home is located in the center of 10 acres of land. If you like to stay around the house while on vacation, you can curl up and read a book from our small library, play cards, or board games. Every room offers TV and remote-control ceiling fans. You can even light the fireplace by remote control. You can create your favorite meal or just throw something in the microwave. All floors are hardwood and tiled. The breakfast island is covered with stone and the fireplace is trimmed in cedar.

When you venture outside, you will have plenty of places to relax and enjoy the nature North Carolina has to offer. On the front porch, you can rock the day away all while keeping an eye on the weather station. Out back, you can sink into one of the deep, comfortable chairs or in one of the rocking chairs. We have a fire pit on the deck out back and plenty of room if you or anyone in the family would like to camp out (tent not included) for the night or just hit the hammock.

About The Owner

I have always wanted to have a Log Home in North Carolina. When we had the opportunity to purchase the Log Home shell, we went for it. It all started with 4 walls, the windows and a roof. The rest was up to us, Carol was responsible for the interior decorations, and I took on the construction and landscaping. What we have accomplished is a home that can be shared with family and friends and create lasting memories. Until we are ready to retire, we have decided to share what we have with our rental guests. This picture was taken at Blowing Rock, NC.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2007

Why The Owner chose Rutherfordton

We had family vacations in North Carolina and even spent our honeymoon in North Carolina. We both love the state, and we also like to ride my motorcycle in the area. North Carolina has some of the best riding in the country. Rutherfordton is small and friendly, rural, but not isolated. The area offers all the necessities with top ranked medical services, shopping nearby, and true southern hospitality to meet some great new friends.

What makes this cabin unique

We both like to read and sometimes that's all we do when we are there. We like nature, peace and quiet. We are able to enjoy this with our family and friends. It is the perfect place for us to gather together and make lasting memories for our family. Until we are ready to retire, we have decided to share our little secret spot for others to make some family memories of their own.

Lovely Log Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We enjoy our stay! Would recommend! This property is in a gated community which we loved, made you feel safe. The cabin is very clean and spacious for a family or large group. (Only two were in my party and it was plenty of space) I loved the wood smell when you walked into the cabin. It just brings the atmosphere full circle for me.

The back deck would be lovely to visit for spring or summer.

Mike gives you plenty of useful information and his website suggest good places to eat.

Thank you!

Outstanding property and gracious owners.

  • 5 of 5

This log cabin located on the slope of a soft hill is extremely comfortable and has all the modern amenities required to make you feel at home (well stocked kitchen, very well appointed bathrooms and bedrooms, central heating, gas barbecue grill); and yet it has wonderful decorating touches throughout the house that remind you of the beautiful nature setting outside . It is within a gated community but your privacy is never compromised since homes are situated well apart and vegetation is lush. This is one of those instances where you get a good feeling from the published photos, but the reality is way better than what you might expect. The cabin is located within a short driving distance to supermarkets and gas stations, and close by the beautiful small town of Rutherfordton, where you'll find restaurants and cafes. Also a short drive to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure; even if you are not planning on going up the park, Chimney Rock Village and a stroll on Rocky Road Riverwalk is worth the trip. Asheville is about 40 minutes away if you want to visit their many breweries and distilleries, or crave faster paced entertainment. I can't speak high enough of the owner Mike, always at the ready to answer any question I had, and showing genuine concern for myself and my family's safety when a rare winter storm hit the area. Once again Mike, thank you for everything you did, and I hope we can stay at your cabin again in the future. I highly recommend this place for anybody wanting to feel at home away from home.

What a Lovely Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about this cabin! The location was perfect for us, not too far from home (Charlotte) and only 30 minutes from Chimney Rock, which was exactly what I was looking for since it was a last minute plan. The cabin has everything you need and it soo beautiful and cozy. Mike was wonderful providing details about everything we needed to know to have a great time during our stay. I'm already planning our second visit.

Beautiful home, Very Clean, Huge Deck

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Gathering Place. We only wished we could've stayed longer. It is located in a gated community and the home itself is surrounded by trees on all four sides. You really have your privacy. We stayed on the deck most of the day. There are several seating areas to sit back, enjoy the view and watch the hummingbirds eat from the feeders. The kitchen provides most anything you will need for cooking. The home was very clean & had plenty of towels. They even provide corn for you to place at the edge of the woods in hopes that deer may peek through the trees. It's a short 25 minute drive to Lake Lure & Chimney Rock. If you head that way, be sure to take the guided boat tour on Lake Lure and stop by Medina's for lunch. Their roasted red pepper soup is fabulous. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Awesome Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the gathering place. The cabin was exactly like the pictures, beautiful and well maintained. We were at a horse show most of the time, but was so grateful to have a nice place to come back to for the evenings. Mike was great to work with and easy to get in touch with anytime. Will definitely keep this place in mind again and have already referred friends and family!

We had an amazing time at the gathering place. The cabin was beautiful and clean. We felt so comfortable there that we almost did not go sightseeing because we loved the cabin so much. We definitely want to go back some day!
