Welcome to the Bass Lake Lodge! Where you will find the beauty of a quiet lake and amenities to make you feel like you are at home. Pets are NOT allowed and No Smoking inside the rental.
The Bass Lake Lodge is located on Bass Lake six miles outside of Traverse City. Bass Lake is a small, spring-fed lake that is nestled between Silver Lake and Long Lake. It is a 343 acre all sports lake which offers a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. It also offers beautiful fall colors!
There are four islands on the lake, each one making it more unique. There is a small public beach and boat launch which is located one mile away from the house. The south end of the lake is surrounded by State Lands and a girl scout camp, which offers a nice spot for fishing. There is lots of wildlife in, on and around the water; each year we see a pair of loons that nest nearby on the lake. And, the lake is also home to a majestic bald eagle!
The Bass Lake Lodge is centrally located; six miles to Traverse City and seven miles to Interlochen. (Interlochen is home to the Interlochen Center for the Arts National Music Camp.)
The Bass Lake Lodge is 1350 square feet and is filled with knotty pine paneling and tongue and groove boards throughout the home, which gives it a beautiful 'cabin' feeling.
Several remodels have taken place over the years, including:
~Winter of 2009 - new carpeting, light fixtures, drywall/paint, porcelain & limestone tile.
~The bathroom was remodeled in winter of 2010 - new tub, porcelain tile and commode. ~A new couch, reclining chairs and dining room table set were added as well.
~A custom kitchen was added in the fall of 2011; offering hickory cabinets (filled with everything imaginable to make cooking meals a breeze). A new 'larger' refridgerator (with an icemaker and water dispenser) and a dishwasher were added. The porcelain floor tile accentuates the coordinating countertoop and backsplash - which give you lots of room for preparing food.
~ a new roof and siding added late 2016. During this remodel, the wood burning fireplace was replaced with a gas fireplace. *One click of a switch and you can enjoy a cozy fire while viewing the beautiful scenery outdoors through one of the many windows facing the lake.
The home also has a laundry room with commercial size washer and dryer. And, there is also private WIFI at the rental at no extra charge.
The landscape of the home has soft grass (summertime) and lots of flowers. A bonfire pit is located near the water and is surrounded by a large concrete patio. (Firewood is provided for your convenience.) There is a large deck on the back of the home which overlooks the lake and a beautiful sunrise. There is a 4' x 40' non slip dock with a 8' x 16' patio on the water. The rental includes the use of a row boat and a 5 person paddle boat (summertime only). Life jackets are provided.
Come to The Bass Lake Lodge to relax and enjoy beautiful Northern Michigan.

Originally built by my Father and Grandfather, the home has been part of my family for many years. Over that time, it has been remodeled, with the most recent updates currently being performed. (This includes, a new roof, siding, fireplace, stone and tile.) I grew up down the street from the home, then resided in it for several years until a job transfer moved me out of town. At which time I turned it into a vacation rental. Since then, I have moved back and now live across the street from the rental.
The neighborhood is definately the place to be! I refer to it as my own little piece of Heaven. Most of the residents in the area have been here for quite some time. It is located off of the 'beaten path' but is still close to everything!
I have put a lot of thought into the rental with the intention of making your vacation as easy and enjoyable for you as possible. From linens to everything you might need in the kitchen as well as firewood and life vests are just a few of the no charge extras that I provide. It is exactly as it is advertised, no surprises! Previous guests have thanked me and provided me several nice comments on the rental, check out my comments from previous guests to learn more!
I hope you will be as excited to vacation at The Bass Lake Lodge as I am to live in this wonderful area!
Jennifer purchased this house in 1995
This home was built by my Father and Grandfather. After purchasing it and living in it for several years, I turned it into a vacation rental as my job took me out of town for several years. I enjoy the rental business and decided to keep it going after I returned to the area.
The Bass Lake Lodge is in a quiet, friendly neighborhood that is conveniently located to Traverse City, Interlochen and many other area attractions. It is set on a 343 acre, all sports lake which offers great fishing, beautiful views and lots of wildlife. The rental is filled with lots of extra amenities that will make your vacation that much better! The rental has a fantastic view of the sunrise as well. And, the owner lives nearby in case you need anything special.
Far enough away from the busy-ness of Traverse City & close to quiet, solitude, nature and relaxation. Fishing is great--bass & bluegill. Fantastic sunrises. Bring your camera & binoculars. Our autumn stay was ideally timed and I look forward to spending time on Bass Lake in the summer & winter as well. Can you imagine the lake frozen...ice skating, ice fishing and staying cozy & warm by the wood burning fireplace. And in the summer! What a great place for swimming & playing in the sun. Stay here and you'll experience the best Northern Michigan has to offer at an affordable price in a clean, comfortable home.
My husband and I needed to get away for some peace and quite before the Michigan winter set in and we feel like we hit the jackpot! Bass Lake Lodge was very peaceful and quite and felt like home. We were surrounded by local friendly neighbors (our next door neighbor put the daily morning paper on our deck each morning , which my husband loved) We loved the new electric fire place that we could turn on with a click of the switch we had a perfect warm fire to drink our morning coffee with or at night we could have a romantic glass of wine while looking into the fireplace . We were lucky enough that the dock was still in and we took the lawn chairs down there to watch the sunrise each morning , life doesn't get any better then that.. We will be back each year.. The Bass Lake Lodge gave us the peace and quite we so needed.. and Jennifer, Patrick and Harley were a blast. We did daily trips and walks in the beautiful Traverse City area. The Bass Lake Lodge provided everything we needed to make our 9 day get a way a 5 star vacation Thank you Jennifer and Patrick
The house was fantastic. It was clean and well kept. Plenty of things for the kiddos (mine are 2 and 4). The internet was also nice and fast, I was able to stream WatchESPN on my ROKU with no problems. The Lake was very nice and the kids had a blast throwing acorns/sticks/etc. in the water. Very close to downtown too, if your kids don't like to eat at restaurants, you can get takeout (I'd recommend Rare Bird), and the food will still be warm by the time you get home.
My only complaint was the lack of a fan in the bathroom and the house being so small (you can draw your own conclusions here...).
Regardless, our family had an awesome time and we look forward to staying at this property again in the future.
This is our 3rd stay at Bass Lake and we will be back! Comfy, well taken care of cottage, so well equipped, so convenient to so many activities! The owners are so kind and considerate. You'll find that everything you need is right here. We went to Traverse City and to some of the other small towns around here, antiqued, read, walked, slept late in the comfortable beds, visited a vineyard, drove through the Old Mission Peninsula, and a host of other activities. This place is your perfect home base. Book this place early, it is so nice the calendar fills up quickly!
What really impressed me was the first time we rented The Bass Lake Lodge was how well Jennifer took care of it. She has always been attentive to details to make sure you feel right at home. And I stress Home. The view of the lake is beautiful. and the deck is extremely large for everyone to relax. The Lodge ( home) has all the amenities that you will need. The kitchen and dining area has been remodeled around 4 years ago. It has everything we have in our kitchen from, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, and microwave. If you want to cook, bake or grill, The Lodge has what you need to do it. We also enjoyed the washer and dryer which enabled us to bring half the clothes we would usually bring on vacation. Just throw them in the wash and have them clean for the rest of the week.
I want to tell you a little story about what happened the first year we stay at The Bass Lake Lodge:
It was Friday before Labor Day around 3:30 p.m. and we noticed we didn't have any hot water. We called Jennifer. and she came over to check things out. It turns out the hot water heater decided to be a cold water heater. Now, remember it is Friday evening at around 5:30 p.m. by now, the beginning of Labor Day weekend. We were leaving the next morning by 10:00 a.m. I told Jennifer not to worry about replacing it for us. We would make it without hot water. We understand that things like this happen and we would make the best of it. She took charge and invited us to bring the 3-year-old twins over to her house to use the bath to warm up after swimming in the lake and also had the hot water heater replaced that evening.
That is customer service and we appreciated everything she does for us each time we come up to relax.
Thank you, Jennifer!
We will see you again,
Daniel h from Grand Rapids, MI.
This Lodge is very well cared for. The owners have continually reinvested in the Lodge which has made it cozy, modern and perfect for a get away. They have thought of everything from the gadgets in the kitchen to the firewood for a lazy and relaxing evening. Location is great. Minutes away from Traverse City and all it has to offer but at the Lodge you feel like you are in the middle of no where. Very peaceful. The sunrises are spectacular. It's well worth getting up early to witness the beautiful scene.
