About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-6)

Welcome to the Bass Lake Lodge! Where you will find the beauty of a quiet lake and amenities to make you feel like you are at home. Pets are NOT allowed and No Smoking inside the rental.

The Bass Lake Lodge is located on Bass Lake six miles outside of Traverse City. Bass Lake is a small, spring-fed lake that is nestled between Silver Lake and Long Lake. It is a 343 acre all sports lake which offers a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. It also offers beautiful fall colors!

There are four islands on the lake, each one making it more unique. There is a small public beach and boat launch which is located one mile away from the house. The south end of the lake is surrounded by State Lands and a girl scout camp, which offers a nice spot for fishing. There is lots of wildlife in, on and around the water; each year we see a pair of loons that nest nearby on the lake. And, the lake is also home to a majestic bald eagle!

The Bass Lake Lodge is centrally located; six miles to Traverse City and seven miles to Interlochen. (Interlochen is home to the Interlochen Center for the Arts National Music Camp.)

The Bass Lake Lodge is 1350 square feet and is filled with knotty pine paneling and tongue and groove boards throughout the home, which gives it a beautiful 'cabin' feeling.

Several remodels have taken place over the years, including:

~Winter of 2009 - new carpeting, light fixtures, drywall/paint, porcelain & limestone tile.

~The bathroom was remodeled in winter of 2010 - new tub, porcelain tile and commode. ~A new couch, reclining chairs and dining room table set were added as well.

~A custom kitchen was added in the fall of 2011; offering hickory cabinets (filled with everything imaginable to make cooking meals a breeze). A new 'larger' refridgerator (with an icemaker and water dispenser) and a dishwasher were added. The porcelain floor tile accentuates the coordinating countertoop and backsplash - which give you lots of room for preparing food.

~ a new roof and siding added late 2016. During this remodel, the wood burning fireplace was replaced with a gas fireplace. *One click of a switch and you can enjoy a cozy fire while viewing the beautiful scenery outdoors through one of the many windows facing the lake.

The home also has a laundry room with commercial size washer and dryer. And, there is also private WIFI at the rental at no extra charge.

The landscape of the home has soft grass (summertime) and lots of flowers. A bonfire pit is located near the water and is surrounded by a large concrete patio. (Firewood is provided for your convenience.) There is a large deck on the back of the home which overlooks the lake and a beautiful sunrise. There is a 4' x 40' non slip dock with a 8' x 16' patio on the water. The rental includes the use of a row boat and a 5 person paddle boat (summertime only). Life jackets are provided.

Come to The Bass Lake Lodge to relax and enjoy beautiful Northern Michigan.

About Jennifer

I am an original vacation rental 'owner' on Bass Lake! I have been renting out this home for 18 years as a vacation property, it is the only property that I have and it is my pride and joy! Along with my husband, we have done many renovations to the home and property over the years. It is modern but with a cottage feeling.

The neighborhood is definately the place to be! I refer to it as my own little piece of Heaven. Most of the residents in the area have been here for quite some time. It is located off of the 'beaten path' but is still close to everything!

I have put a lot of thought into the rental with the intention of making your vacation as easy and enjoyable for you as possible. From linens to everything you might need in the kitchen as well as firewood and life vests are just a few of the no charge extras that I provide. It is exactly as it is advertised, no surprises! Should a problem or question arise, we reside across the street from the rental and are always a phone call away. You will never have to deal with a rental manager or agency. Previous guests have thanked me and provided me several flattering comments about The Bass Lake Lodge. Please review my "comments" from previous guests to see how truly special it really is.

I hope you will be as excited to vacation at The Bass Lake Lodge as I am to live in this wonderful area!

Jennifer purchased this house in 1995

Why Jennifer chose Northern Michigan

Originally built by my Father and Grandfather, the home has been part of my family for many years. Over that time, it has been remodeled, with the most recent updates currently being performed. (This includes, a new roof, siding, fireplace, stone and tile.) I grew up down the street from the home, then resided in it for several years until a job transfer moved me out of town. At which time I turned it into a vacation rental. Since then, I have moved back and now live across the street from the rental.

What makes this house unique

The Bass Lake Lodge is in a quiet, friendly neighborhood that is conveniently located to Traverse City, Interlochen and many other area attractions. It is set on a 343 acre, all sports lake which offers great fishing, beautiful views and lots of wildlife. The rental is filled with lots of extra amenities that will make your vacation that much better! The rental has a fantastic view of the sunrise as well. And, the owner lives nearby in case you need anything special.

A true Northern Michigan experience

  • 5 of 5

Far enough away from the busy-ness of Traverse City & close to quiet, solitude, nature and relaxation. Fishing is great--bass & bluegill. Fantastic sunrises. Bring your camera & binoculars. Our autumn stay was ideally timed and I look forward to spending time on Bass Lake in the summer & winter as well. Can you imagine the lake frozen...ice skating, ice fishing and staying cozy & warm by the wood burning fireplace. And in the summer! What a great place for swimming & playing in the sun. Stay here and you'll experience the best Northern Michigan has to offer at an affordable price in a clean, comfortable home.

Cute, well maintained property with all the fixings for a relaxing lakeside stay.

  • 5 of 5

The property was great and the owners incredibly welcoming! I think watching the sun rise over the lake from the living room next to a warm fire was the highlight of the weekend.

Excellent cabin. Lake is tricky to navigate.

  • 5 of 5

Loved most everything about this cabin. Had everything I needed. Was clean and well cared for.

Jennifer was very easy to work with and did everything to make my stay as enjoyable and convenient as possible.

It was nice to have a modern TV with HDMI input. I like being able to connect my laptop and watch videos from it. The wifi was a bonus too.

I found all the decorative pillows on the beds to be overkill. Had to fill the closet with them to use the bed.

My reason for being there to was to fish the lake. It's a good size lake, but most of it isn't more than 1-2 feet deep. This made navigating my 16 foot deep-V to different parts of the lake and exercise in caution. There are many areas where you can't help but churn up mud. Even when using a trolling motor. The good news is there is a deeper basin straight out from this cabin. The southern branch of the lake also has a nice basin, but there's no quick way of getting there. I was there in late September. Maybe the water the level is higher during other times of the year. That being said, I did catch a few decent bass. Bad weather and other circumstances prevented me from getting as much fishing as I would have liked during my 3 night stay.

Vacation Get-a-way before the Winter snow sets in.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I needed to get away for some peace and quite before the Michigan winter set in and we feel like we hit the jackpot! Bass Lake Lodge was very peaceful and quite and felt like home. We were surrounded by local friendly neighbors (our next door neighbor put the daily morning paper on our deck each morning , which my husband loved) We loved the new electric fire place that we could turn on with a click of the switch we had a perfect warm fire to drink our morning coffee with or at night we could have a romantic glass of wine while looking into the fireplace . We were lucky enough that the dock was still in and we took the lawn chairs down there to watch the sunrise each morning , life doesn't get any better then that.. We will be back each year.. The Bass Lake Lodge gave us the peace and quite we so needed.. and Jennifer, Patrick and Harley were a blast. We did daily trips and walks in the beautiful Traverse City area. The Bass Lake Lodge provided everything we needed to make our 9 day get a way a 5 star vacation Thank you Jennifer and Patrick

Great Lake Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The house was fantastic. It was clean and well kept. Plenty of things for the kiddos (mine are 2 and 4). The internet was also nice and fast, I was able to stream WatchESPN on my ROKU with no problems. The Lake was very nice and the kids had a blast throwing acorns/sticks/etc. in the water. Very close to downtown too, if your kids don't like to eat at restaurants, you can get takeout (I'd recommend Rare Bird), and the food will still be warm by the time you get home.

My only complaint was the lack of a fan in the bathroom and the house being so small (you can draw your own conclusions here...).

Regardless, our family had an awesome time and we look forward to staying at this property again in the future.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd stay at Bass Lake and we will be back! Comfy, well taken care of cottage, so well equipped, so convenient to so many activities! The owners are so kind and considerate. You'll find that everything you need is right here. We went to Traverse City and to some of the other small towns around here, antiqued, read, walked, slept late in the comfortable beds, visited a vineyard, drove through the Old Mission Peninsula, and a host of other activities. This place is your perfect home base. Book this place early, it is so nice the calendar fills up quickly!
