Great location for large groups

  • 4 of 5

We had a group of 13 people traveling to Costa Rica and this place worked out wonderfully for us. We had plenty of room for everyone to have their own privacy. We did rent the house and all rooms/apartments. Some of the rooms did need some attention/TLC but over all we were happy with the location as it suited our needs.

The common areas outside were fantastic. The grounds are well kept and the grounds keeper is there throughout the day to keep the pool nice and clean. The housekeeper was also there daily as well and both were very kind. The view from the property is absolutely breathtaking and we spent the majority of the time at the pool when we were at the house. The steps to go down toward the ocean are a bit dark at night and steep so keep that in mind if traveling with children or elderly.

Coco Loco was a short walk from the house and the food was fantastic. We also utilized the personal chef that Ricardo uses and all the food he prepared for us was amazing. It was really convenient to have him show up and cook for us and it was very affordable. We rented a car so that we could go to the grocery store and cook some of our own meals. The food at the store was a bit pricey and so was the beer ($10 USD for a 6 pack). I would suggest that you buy some duty free liquor on your way if you can to help cut down on the cost of cocktails.

Ricardo was hands down amazing in helping me to coordinate this trip for 13 people. He was always very responsive to me via email. He helped to book the van service to and from the airport and the personal chef. He made the entire process so easy for us and I can't thank him enough. We also used the van service to go to and from Tamarindo for some shopping and dining. It was so nice to be able to get all of us in one vehicle at the same time.

On our last day there a family of howler monkeys came to visit. it was absolutely fascinating to watch them. Overall we loved our trip and had a lot of fun. We do not speak Spanish and found that we had some breakdown in translation while there so please be prepared for that if you do not speak/understand Spanish.

Ricardo you are the best and we very much appreciate you. We can't wait to visit Cost Rica again in the future!

Perfect for large group of people!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here at this property with 15 people and it was perfect! Everyone had their own space and privacy and we never felt cramped. We also had the neighboring condo rented with an additional 11 people and Villa Martita provided us with an exceptional place to relax and visit without feeling crowded. It was like our own mini resort

The house sits up on a bluff, so the view from the pool let us have the most amazing sunset views. There was always a small breeze coming off the ocean which was wonderful in the heat. They had a few pool toys and noodles for us to use. However, there is only a few beach towels provided.

To access the beach there is two ways to go. Some people have complained about the stairs to the beach. We did not think it was bad. From the steps, the beach is a block away. You can also take the driveway to the beach, just a longer walk if the stairs are an issue.

There is a delicious restaurant just steps from the house and a few more a mile away. A rental car is necessary if you need to go to the grocery store. Most of the tours do pick up at the Villa. Be very cautious of Major Tours. This is a man who will stop by and try to arrange tours. We had a horrible issue arise with him. Use at own risk!

We felt safe at this location. There was a grounds keeper there during the day and a night watchman if any issues arose. Housekeeper was wonderful!

I believe this property is a little older, and could use a few upgrades but these were minor details. We were very happy we stayed here!

One of the best!

  • 5 of 5

Hands down the best rental property I have ever stayed in across the world. I have traveled to many great places, and I must say that this was the best place I have ever stayed. The pool was the perfect size, the apartments were perfect for the couples we had staying with us, and the main house provided a large number of beds for all of the guests to have their own. We rented this property with 20 high school friends for a wedding, who hadn't been together for 10 years. I can't begin to say how perfect of a spot this was for all of us. Flamingo beach is my personal favorite beach in the area and we had a staircase that brought us directly down to the beach. The staff was over the top. Helping us with dishes, laundry, and anything else that came up. Simply put, if you have a large group traveling together, this IS the spot. Ricardo was so easy to work with and made checking in, out, and any questions that came up seamless. Thanks again for an amazing week at Villa Martita!

Amazing Spot

  • 5 of 5

This was by far one of the coolest, best located, and well laid out properties we saw while in Costa Rica. Villa Martita was a fantastic place for a group of people that are looking to have a fun, energetic time but also gives the privacy for couples, parents or kids. I can't say enough good things about Luis, night security, what a stand up guy he was and a pleasure to talk with. Santos and Angelica were fantastic as well. They kept the place spotless even with a bunch of wedding bound individuals looking to have a fun vacation. The animal presence was much more than expected and made the lounge time very interesting. Monkeys, lizards, birds, crabs, the list goes on. The location of the house couldn't be in a better spot, high on a hillside overlooking the private beach (which you can use) and the pacific ocean. The feel of the home was perfect. We really appreciated the more natural look and finish to the house, rather than a pristine condition home. It gives you more of a local feel to it, which was perfect. People in the area were extremely nice and helpful. Coco-loco is a 3 minute walk down the street, which is also a plus. I would highly recommend this property to those looking for a place to let loose a bit, stay safe and be around nature. We will definitely be back in the future.

Needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

The pictures seem quite old, as the property needs some work. We had a group of 13, and found lots of issues. Hanging wires, ceilings cracked/falling down, construction area as if they wanted to do an add on but ran short of funding. The street leading to the driveway is in need of serious repair. This property is also multi-layer. So some of the rooms are under the pool and hence have stairs.

We stayed in the dolphin room, and it was quite run down. The refrigerator didn't work, and Ricardo said someone wa going to come look at it, but after 5 days, no one showed. Asked him about it 3 times. The ceiling was cracked and falling down. The closet doors didn't close, and one frame looked like termites got to it. The door to the bathroom was difficult to open, and it was an outdoor bathroom. Shower head needs to be cleaned out, but otherwise the bathroom was ok.

The kitchen is a tight space. And since our fridge didn't work, and there were 13 of us, the main fridge was often too full to accommodate everything we needed it to. Pans, flatware, etc are serviceable. The spices are probably leftovers, and are all clumped together from humidity, so I don't know why they're not just tossed. Grill was great to have. Washer/dryer were nice. You have to provide your own detergent.

Hammock has a huge hole...and looks like it has had multiple repairs already.

A dog came by and stayed with us for a while, we named him Rocket and were sad to leave him. Monkeys were present early one morning. Those who were up at 5 got to see them.

Pool needs TLC. Missing tiles make it rough on the feet. Seems like the pool "toys" were leftovers. 4 noodles, one raft, a floating net that is unusable for actually playing. But, we were glad to have the little bit that was left.

Santos was great, just as the reviews said. Maid was nice...didn't change out sheets or towels, but made the bed, took out the trash and swept. Since some of our ceiling had fallen on the kitchenette counter, we could tell she never wipes that off. Night guy just walks around and shines his light in the trees. Not sure what would attack from there, but it was nice.

The path to the beach needs TLC. The gate is rusted and not on any sort of hinge. Lots of stairs. But a nice beach, even though the ocean was a little rough.

Furniture is all worn out. And mosquitos were all over the outside area. DEET is a must.

This COULD be a really nice place. Instead, it's just average.
