Come enjoy a get-away weekend in the heart of North Carolina wine country, sample some great wines, walk in the vineyards, and relax with the spectacular sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are dog-friendly, with a great fenced-in play area! Located just off I-77 and I-74 near Mt Airy, and only 9 miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway, our winery house at Round Peak Vineyards is a great stopping point even if you are just passing through! A free wine tasting for up to 8 people is included.
In May 2011 we renovated the winery house, remodeling both bathrooms, adding a 4th bedroom, and opening up the floor plan to create a great venue for parties of up to 8 people to relax and have fun.

Hi everyone! We are Kari Heerdt and Ken Gulaian, and as the owners of Round Peak Vineyards, we'd like to introduce ourselves and our team. We met in Cincinnati in 1998 when we both worked for General Electric. We moved to Charlotte, NC in 2000 for a new job opportunity, loved it, and decided North Carolina was where we would stay. Careers got in the way though, and in 2006 we moved to San Francisco for Kari's work. This proved to be instrumental since it resulted in a lot of time spent enjoying wine in Napa, Sonoma, and especially the Dry Creek Valley. We particularly enjoyed the small family owned wineries. When we got the chance to return to North Carolina in 2008, again for Kari's work, we jumped at the chance. Ken had already decided it was time to give up the corporate world, and when we found out there was an opportunity to own a winery in North Carolina, we couldn't resist! After visiting, being impressed with the wines, and seeing the spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we decided to take the challenge.
Ken Gulaian purchased this house in 2008
When we purchased the winery, we saw the potential to create a really unique rental opportunity, where you can stay right in the heart of wine country, relax and enjoy some fantastic views, but still get out and participate in the many activities in the region. We spent a year upgrading the house, and the surrounding area, to make it an ideal place for a group to stay.
If your a wine lover, we are committed to making the best possible wines, and we hope you'll come and experience Round Peak Vineyards, visit some of the numerous North Carolina Wineries, and check out all that the area has to offer! If you're not a wine lover, hopefully we can convert you!
I've stayed at Round Peak multiple time and every time is great. Ken and the team are great and what could be better than having the mountains in the backyard and a winery in the front yard!!!
Second trip here. Always a great experience. Will definitely be back. Owners are welcoming, house is clean and well stocked.
Home was very clean and comfortable! Great location, easy to find. Enjoyed the stay very much!!
We just arrived home from our trip to Round Peak. The house was just wonderful - in great condition and stocked with everything you would need. Ken was a great host and was very responsive. From the feedback I got from my wife's (rather large) family, we will likely be back. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone - whether for a romantic getaway or a family get together! Thank you!!
Beautiful Property and Friendly Staff. Made us feel welcome and greated us with a smile each and every time we came in contact. Would highly recommend staying here to friends and would love to come back some day. House was clean, comfortable and had some beautiful views of the winery and mountains.
You know that feeling when you rent a vacation house and you are always a little apprehensive about what it will actually turn out to be? Worry no more. For us, this place was ideal. We selected the Winery House, one of two properties on site which are available for rental. The setting is fantastic. Beautiful vineyards on 30+ acres of gorgeous rolling hills with beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mtns in the distance. If you brought your dogs you may walk them on paths or trails that wind around the vineyard. Just step out the door and you are there. If you don't want to walk the dogs but want to let them out for a potty break or simply to play, there is a enclosed area right across road next to the winery. Ken, the host, has two dogs (Quake and Phoebe) that are on property when he is there. They are friendly and after a brief introduction between dogs they go about their business. In fact, one of our dogs is not crazy about other dogs so at first I was a little concerned when they come to say "hello" but he actually ended up buddying up with Phoebe and he would look for her when going out for walks. The dogs are not pests nor intrusive and I enjoyed seeing them.
The house has 4 bedrooms (1 master with bath and queen bed, 1 with a queen bed, and 2 bedrooms with twin beds). There is another full bathroom in the hall. Living room is comfortable and spacious and the kitchen has everything you need and it opens to a dining area. Dish TV and WiFi is available. The screened in back porch was our favorite, it is large with a nice big table and comfortable chairs and opens to a smaller grilling area. We spent most of our time there as the weather was fantastic. There is another house, the Vineyard House, which is to the left of the Winery House as you face the front porch. I believe it is also 4 bedroom, 2 full baths but not 100% sure of this. It is a two story house. These houses are not right on top of each other, plenty of privacy. Ken, the host, was never intrusive but always available if needed. He will respond quickly. If you want to get out and explore Mt. Airy is about a 15 min drive and has Food Lion and Lowes grocery stores. There are plenty of good places to eat and of course if you are an Andy Griffith fan you will enjoy the museum and other attractions. A free wine tasting was also included, an added bonus. Nothing more pleasant than a glass of Round Peak on the porch. We took a few home to remind us of the wonderful time we had.
Round Peak Vineyards is located at the junction of I-77 & I-74 near Mt. Airy, a perfect stop on your travels North or South, or as a break on the way to the NC / SC beaches. We are in the Yadkin Valley, near more than 30 other wineries. Mount Airy is the home of Andy Griffith and famous for being the town used as a model for Mayberry. Take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, only nine miles away, for some spectacular views. The area is the birthplace of the Round Peak style of Fiddling, with many events during the year.
