Come enjoy a get-away weekend in the heart of North Carolina wine country, sample some great wines, walk in the vineyards, and relax with the spectacular sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are dog-friendly, with a great fenced-in play area! A free wine tasting for up to 10 people is included.
In May 2011 we renovated the winery house, remodeling both bathrooms, adding a 4th bedroom, and opening up the floor plan to create a great venue for parties of 6-10 people to relax and have fun.
Round Peak Vineyards is located in the Yadkin Valley AVA, sitting at 1300 ft. in elevation in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hi everyone! We are Kari Heerdt and Ken Gulaian, and as the owners of Round Peak Vineyards, we'd like to introduce ourselves and our team. We met in Cincinnati in 1998 when we both worked for General Electric. We moved to Charlotte, NC in 2000 for a new job opportunity, loved it, and decided North Carolina was where we would stay. Careers got in the way though, and in 2006 we moved to San Francisco for Kari's work. This proved to be instrumental since it resulted in a lot of time spent enjoying wine in Napa, Sonoma, and especially the Dry Creek Valley. We particularly enjoyed the small family owned wineries. When we got the chance to return to North Carolina in 2008, again for Kari's work, we jumped at the chance. Ken had already decided it was time to give up the corporate world, and when we found out there was an opportunity to own a winery in North Carolina, we couldn't resist! After visiting, being impressed with the wines, and seeing the spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we decided to take the challenge.
The Owner purchased this house in 2008
When we purchased the winery, we saw the potential to create a really unique rental opportunity, where you can stay right in the heart of wine country, relax and enjoy some fantastic views, but still get out and participate in the many activities in the region. We spent a year upgrading the house, and the surrounding area, to make it an ideal place for a group to stay.
If your a wine lover, we are committed to making the best possible wines, and we hope you'll come and experience Round Peak Vineyards, visit some of the numerous North Carolina Wineries, and check out all that the area has to offer! If you're not a wine lover, hopefully we can convert you!
We just spend a week at the Winery House. The setting is gorgeous and the house far exceeds the one-line description and pictures. Mt. Airy is a very beautiful area. The mountain views are incredible.
The Master bedroom and bath were large and comfortable with a walk-in shower. The other three bedrooms were nicely sized. The second bath has a tub/shower combination (9 month old twins appreciated the tub!). The living room and dining room were nicely furnished with plenty of room for everyone including the two crawling everywhere. IKEA furniture was used to furnish the house and everything looks great! The kitchen is large and very well equipped. The wine bar and sink provided a great prep area. The screened in porch looked out on the vineyard and mountains. Early mornings and sunsets were not to be missed. Deck has seating for 10 with plenty of open space. The screened porch and deck over look the back deck of the Round Peak Winery. Live music Saturday at the winery made for a fun evening from the porch.
Walking out to the gazebo and stopping in at the winery later afternoon for a glass or wine or beer were an added bonus. There were four adults and 2 babies. We had plenty of room and were very comfortable. The house was very easy to find and very clean. We highly recommend this house for vacation. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. New pictures and descriptions are needed ASAP to show off this great house and property.
This home was very well equipped, clean, spacious and in a lovely setting. It was conveniently located to lots of attractions. We only stayed two nights, but wished we had could have stayed longer to enjoy all that the home had to offer. Loved the large screened in porch! Ken was extremely accommodating and we got a tour of the winery. We would definitely recommend this home to our friends.
The property was well maintained. The cabin exceeded our expectations. We couldn't have been more pleased. Great getaway location for a couple or up to 8 ppl. The price was very reasonable. Will definitely return
Being from Winston-Salem, NC, we wanted to come home for the holidays. We decided to seek out a vacation home in the foothills near Mt. Airy so we could show our grandsons the inspiration for our favorite childhood show "Andy Griffith"... I will say, upon entering the Round Peak Cabin, we were pleasantly surprised! We expected a mediocre home with enough space for 8 of our family members. What we found was a Beautifully decorated, well acquainted home with more amenities than I can mention! Besides the amazing view, picturesque vineyards and winery within steps , there was a fabulous kitchen with a nice wine bar, nice bathrooms with wonderful towels, and even designer shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided! There was even laundry soap provided. Needless to say, I give this home 5 stars and can't wait for our next visit to Round Peak!
Woke up Satuday morning to rainbow over the vineyard. Also, Ken and his family were great. This place is a gem in Surry County!
My family stayed here two years ago (date of arrival above is off by 2 years since I couldn't get the calendar to move back to Sept 2012)when we came from out of town to my nieces wedding in Mt. Airy. What a wonderful, comfortable home! Since we were staying for a few nights we had bought groceries and found the kitchen so well equipped I asked the owner who in his family was a chef. The living area was large enough to accommodate all of us gathering in the evening and the view from the back deck of the vineyard was nothing short of spectacular. The beds were comfortable and I loved the spaciousness of the Master suite. Lastly, the location was perfect- close enough to town to be convenient but far enough away to be a peaceful, quiet setting. Would definitely stay here again. I'm only sorry I didn't write this sooner.

We are in the Yadkin Valley, near more than 30 other wineries. Mount Airy is the home of Andy Griffith and famous for being the town used as a model for Mayberry. Take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, only nine miles away, for some spectacular views. The area is the birthplace of the Round Peak style of Fiddling, with many events during the year.
