Brand new (August 2010), delightful cottage in Central Eugene (Home of the Oregon Ducks), is located between the Pacific Ocean and Cascade Mountains in the lovely Willamette Valley. Features include serene colors and textures, tall ceilings, and antiques. All furniture and linens are top quality and new for your comfort. Reading a book in the cozy window seat is a perfect way to unwind after a full day of activities. Ample storage is provided for your belongings. A deep closet with shelves can accommodate most personal items. In addition, space above the 9 foot row of cabinets can store extras. Larger items can be placed in the garage as stated on the checklist. Finally, light fills the cottage through extensive quality lighting, skylight, bay window, and two other large windows. Built with a good sized kitchen, the studio comfortably sleeps 2 adults and 1 child. The w/d and closet space are bumpouts into the garage. The overall sq. footage is 500 sq feet.
Your home away from home is off a safe, quiet dead end street, surrounded by lovely gardens. Bungalows, Cottages, Tudors, Atomic Age Ranches, and Craftsmen homes were built in the neighborhood, creating an interesting flat walking tour through one of Eugene's older neighborhoods. Plenty of patio seating is available to take advantage of our perfect Oregon summer and fall. Next to the Amazon bike trail, easy access to Eugene is available. In addition, the rapid bus system is just a few blocks from the cottage. An easy walk will get you to major venues in Eugene: the U of O, Hult Center/Cuthbert Amphitheater/The Shedd, library, Saturday Market, fine dining, and many recreational opportunities. Also, several parks are sited close to the cottage.
I am a retired school teacher with many passions: gardening, reading, hiking, my family and friends, Bach, learning to play the piano, travel, and my pets.
Carole Carlson purchased this cottage in 2004
After years of accumulating junk from my 3 sons, I decided to turn unused space into a practical, simple studio. As with most things in life, The Cottage took on a life of its own and begged to become a Vacation Rental! It's still practical. However, it now considers itself elegant and charming.
I love Eugene. As a transplanted East Coast big city kinda gal, I appreciate what this city has to offer: great summers and falls are perfect for outdoor activities, winters bring skiing and visits to the coast, the stimulation of being in a college town (Go Ducks), excellent medical facilities, and sipping Pinot Noir while the sun sets at 10 pm on a perfect July night.
What a delightful experience staying at your Rose Cottage. I found it wondrously appointed; healing, meditative, restorative. Thank you so very, very, much. This was the best part of my time in Eugene.
The Cottage is in a great neighborhood, very comfortable and clean. Carole is a wonderful hostess and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. Loved the bikes and the bike paths. While there we visited wineries, the coast and went hiking all within an hour or two. Will stay here again!
It is all the little things on top of the beautiful, warm space that Carole provides that make this place special. Loved being able to use the bike to get around Eugene, the full size oven, great central location, comfy bed, coffee pod machine... on top of Carole's generosity. A great home away from home for three weeks. Why would you stay anywhere else in Eugene?
This is a great little cottage behind the owner's main house. It's very comfortable, well stocked with full kitchen, and close to everything of interest in town. We've stayed three times now and have always enjoyed the accommodations. The place is clean, quiet, beautifully appointed, easy to get to, and easy to park. Carole is there if you need her, but respects your privacy completely if you don't seek her out. There are about a dozen short-term rentals I use around the world and this is my favorite.
Carole's cottage in Central Eugene is a terrific place to stay. Great location. Very comfortable. Quaint. Loved it! And she could not be more friendly. Loved chatting with her upon arrival and checkout. Will definitely check to see if her place is available for for my next visit to Eugene.
Our first stay in Eugene was a lovely experience. The location of The Cottage was close to restaurants, great riverfront parks, and City Events. The property is very quaint and provides a cozy and safe place to relax. Carole is very kind and accommodating. My husband and I had a delayed flight in which we arrived at the property past midnight. With a short after hours communication with Carole, our entry into the property went as smooth as silk.
My husband and I plan to return to Eugene again and will stay at The Cottage.
We really loved our stay at The Cottage.
You walk into a beautiful garden and a welcoming outdoor living space that we used a number of times for BBQ and dinner at the picnic table. Everything you need for any length stay is there for your use. A comfortable bed is important and we slept like a babies. The Cottage is very clean and well maintained. If asked for a recommendation, this would be it hands down.
The location couldn't be better with a few neighborhood restaurants you can walk to. The Saturday Farmers Market is close by and has really good organic options. All in all we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
