After visiting Ouray since 1987 we finally decided to become part of this magnificent place. We love sharing our little piece of paradise and continue to encourage family and friends to visit. Every one of them has expressed how beautiful this area is and can now see why we moved here. We've had tons of fun in the San Juan Mountains. Winter is our favorite time of year with plenty of snow fall followed by blue sky days and fantastic skiing in Telluride.
Pattie purchased this house in 2003
Ouray is one of the most beautiful places we ever traveled through, so we were thrilled to be able to own property here. This wooded property is located in the north corridor of the city limits, nestled between the canyon walls and only a short walk to the river trail, hot springs pool, or even downtown.
Enjoy the surrounding beauty of the San Juan Mountains. View Mt Abrams and the canyon walls from the comfort of a recliner in the living room or while enjoying meals on the patio. If you are lucky, some wild life may wonder through the property. A two mile river walk is across the street. Walk/jog, snowshoe/cross country ski the loop or use it to walk to the hot springs or into town. There is so much to see and do. There are winter and summer activities. Our vacation home is 0.7 mile from the Ouray hot springs and 8 miles from Orvis hot springs. The nearest airports are in Montrose (35 miles) and Telluride (50 miles). Ouray and Telluride offer jeeping and hiking (guided or self); museums, quaint shops, and restaurants. The town of Ridgway (10 miles) offers the same activities along with kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, and the Ridgway State Park/Reservoir. Winter allows for cross country skiing, alpine skiing, ice climbing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.
What a warm and welcoming home! We arrived to beautiful Christmas music playing, the smell of pine, the most exquisitely decorated Christmas tree, a box of Christmas chocolates and a huge bowl of red, green and silver wrapped candies! Interspersed through out the Stone House were delightful holiday touches...ornaments hanging in the window, a Christmas centerpiece on the table, a bowl of ornaments and candles on the mantel. All your little extras were huge for our family. You created a perfect holiday atmosphere for all of us to gather and celebrate. We are most grateful for your warm hospitality! Thank you!

Our extended family of grandparents, daughter, and 2 granddaughters had a wonderful week in Ouray at the Stone House. It was perfect for us. We were happy to get to meet Pattie the first night; she is very friendly and helpful. House set up was wonderful with lots of considerate extras provided. Photos were accurate. The house was spotless. We loved being near the River Walk so we could walk to the pool and to town especially on July 4th so we did not have to deal with traffic. We loved the outdoor patio area which has a spectacular view of the mountains and of the July 4th fireworks. Ouray is a beautiful town with wonderful hiking, the Hot Springs Pool and great ice cream. We will be back and hope to stay in the Stone House again.
Pattie's "Stone House" was absolutely wonderful. While our arrival time kept changing due to vehicle issues, Pattie kept assuring me it was no problem and met us within minutes of our arrival. 6 of us stayed very comfortably. The home was warm and inviting. The only thing we could have asked for was...more time to stay! We would definitely recommend the Stone House to anyone looking to stay in Ouray! Thanks again Pattie for all your hospitality! The Hansons
The house was immaculately clean and well furnished. It's bigger than it looks and has lots of nice sized bedrooms. Patricia is a great host and has clear instructions on tvs, etc.
The house has a secluded feel even though it's on the edge of town and we would definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful stay at the Little Stone House in Ouray! Before, during and after our stay the owner was so friendly and helpful; she even put up a Christmas tree and holiday decorations. Not only did the home meet our expectations from the photos and written description, it exceed them! The four bedrooms, were ideal for the 6 adults and 1 toddler, who had his own room, much to everyone's delight. There are so many little things that are provided, the kitchen felt like my own, there was nothing I needed/wanted that was not there, peelers, graters, measuring cups, spoons, and pitchers, big pans, little pans, roasters, everything (except we would have preferred sharper knives) The owner went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant, comfortable and truly wonderful! Thank You, Pattie for a Perfect Christmas Get Away!
This was my third try at VRBO. My earlier two stays were just OK. This stay was great! The property is immaculate, and the owner wants it to stay that way. Is slightly outside of town, in a quiet area. Based on this stay, my wife will let me reserve another VRBO property!
The owner had everything ready for us when we arrived, including having music playing in the house. We had a multiple family vacation and this house is perfect!
Jeeping, ice climbing, snowshoeing, hot springs.
Please Note: The maps used are 4 to 5 years old. The area surrounding the house has changed (for the better). Thank you.
