Eagle Tree Cottage on Lake Leelanau with Sunset View . . . Prepare to Relax!

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,600 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Three Bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6

This cottage sits on a projection of land... the lake curves around it from the North East to the South West. There are neighboring cottages to the east but there is a screen of trees and privacy fence. The cottage sits about 50 feet from the shore of Lake Leelanau (a premier fishing and boating lake in Leelanau County). We named our cottage "Eagle Tree" because there have been Eagles landing and fishing from the big White Pine in front of the cottage for many years. Many of our renters have been treated to seeing them here on quiet mornings.

Two bedrooms on the, scond floor share a full bath. The first floor has one bedroom, a full bath, kitchen, dining room, living room and laundry room. The best feature of the cottage is the wrap around covered porch which offers supreme sunset views. The grounds are enhanced by mature Birch, Aspen, White Pine, Hemlock and Cedar. This location is very good to take advantage of all the big events in Traverse City and surrounding area or just relax and enjoy the all sports lake. This is a peaceful, relaxing and lovely cottage with lots of privacy.

Secluded and quiet. The home has everything you need to cook a full meal to entertain or for simple eating. Relatively close to Traverse City. Kayak and two docks make the experience special. I recommend!

Beautiful peaceful location!

  • 4 of 5

We rented the cottage to vacation while attending our Sons wedding on another part of the lake. We brought our boat also. Plenty of room for my family and the kitchen was well stocked. Everything was clean and homey. Beautiful views from the porch and rooms! We got to see Eagles and Loons and we fished some. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate most of the trip but we made the best of it. Unless you have a pontoon then the dock is too shallow when the waves kick up. The owners were very gracious salt if the earth real people! Super nice and helpful! We will miss them! ❤️

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words about the cottage...yes our northwest exposure against the dock can get rough for the boats! Smaller fishing boats and pontoons seem to do the best! Mooring buoys work too...we are planning to put in a permanent one We really enjoyed hosting you here at Eagle Tree!!

Relaxing Stay at Well-Appointed Cottage with Amazing Lake Views

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is tucked in the wilderness with lake views from the wrap around porch. The house is well-appointed with pots/pans and all the kitchen gear any cook needs. It is also stocked with nice sheets and towels; just bring your beach towels and you are set for a relaxing week at the lake. Very nice owners too.

Little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

This lake front home is perfect! Greeted by the owner upon arrival and shown 'the ropes' we were not disappointed. In the perfect location to enjoy days on the lake or your in central location to the surrounding areas.

All necessities and then some were provided. The outdoor shower and hot tub were a great bonus! We loved the large covered porch and ate most our meals on it. We enjoyed both the canoe and kayak and brought our own boat.

We will be back!! Made for one of the best vacations we've ever had!

Vacation of a Lifetime

  • 5 of 5

If you delight in natural beauty, this is the place to enjoy it. Whether the four of us (parents plus daughter and son-in- law) were sittng on the wrap around porch, inside, or out on one of the docks there was always an awe inspiring view of the lake.

"Ernie" the bald eagle made several appearenaces which thrilled us, often stopping in the top of a huge white pine right on the property! We bought a kayak after arriving and used it alot. Our new Hobie had a pedal drive and sail options and we used all three. The pedal drive worked well on windy days.

Having a king bed and an ensuite bath were especially nice for us and something we seldon find in a rental cottage. We have been renting for many summer in and around TC. This is our favorite vacation rental ever. No one wanted to leave, and the cottage we rented for our second week paled in comparison. I would say the best spect of the cottage was being able to walk out the door and use the kayak, sit on the dock in a comfortable adirondack or swim just within feet of the front door. The cottage is well described in the listing. We also enjoyed the firepit and the hot tub.

Great rental property

  • 5 of 5

This is a nice house, about 10 minutes away from Traverse City and about 40 minutes from Sleeping Bear. The house and property are exactly as advertised. The property is secluded, and has several docks and lake access points along the property. The lake is beautiful, and great for swimming. We spent one whole day just going from the lake to the hot tub and back. Our 3 kids (ages 9, 8 and 4) had a great time. There is a bike trail just down the road, that we did not use, but looks nice. Moomers ice cream is a few minutes away, and was fun for the kids.

The owners live on the opposite edge of the property. Distant enough that we never saw their home. Clse enough that the property was well maintained, and they were available if we had any questions. They also mailed us back a few items we left behind.

Overall, this is a great rental if you want secluded lakeside property, close to Travese City and Sleeping Bear.

Why Debbie Sanborn chose Traverse City

There have been many sightings of American Bald Eagles in the White Pine tree on the west shore near the cottage. It is why we call it Eagle Tree Cottage.
