I was fortunate to grow up in the nearby community of Tillamook. My grandfather came from Switzerland in the early 1900's and founded one of the dairy farms in the area which my family still owns. I spent many days lounging on the beaches of Oceanside while I was growing up. My dream was to come back and purchase a home at the beach to feel young again. You will be mesmerized by the beauty of this coastal town. I know the history and area very well and love to share information and my chalet with guests. The photo is me in Switzerland last year where Grandpa was born.
Michelle purchased this house in 2005
I chose this beautiful property because I believe Oceanside Oregon is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world.
My husband I and family love the drive down Hwy 6 to the town of Oceanside along the Wilson River from Portland. Many waterfalls and scenic spots. We settle in unpack and the magic takes over. You pretty much forget the rest of your other world. I love to cook so we venture to the locale fish markets and purchase crab, clams, and fish and really have a feast. I love sitting on the deck watching the boats, whales, sea lions, surfers while soaking up some sun.
Great place to bring the family. Easy access to beach, morning coffee and dinning are all just a short walk away.....
WOW! We hope to go back to this beautiful area again and the Edelweiss Chalet is where we would stay again and again.
This is a very quiet community, away from the touristy buzz, which is exactly what we wanted. Peace and serenity. The chalet delivered.
Very clean, decorated so comfy and cozy with all the amenities you could ask for. We slept great in the master bedroom and the
bed was perfect for us....and the sheets and pillows were very comfortable!! Beautiful view to open your eyes to.
Kitchen well stocked for cooking as well and easy to work in.
The view is amazing from EVERY window.
Soft blankies and pillows everywhere to snuggle with on the deck or comfy couch. Fireplace if you like. Loved the hammock too! Sat down by the firepit but didn't get to light a fire as it was rainy that night.
Michelle, the owner, was very accommodating through the entire experience, making sure we had everything we needed as well as making excellent recommendations for dining and shopping. Thanks for that, Michelle!! We took all of your advice!
A must try that she sent us to is Roseanna's in Oceanside. Incredible oysters, in fact the best we had on the coast during our stay. The little store in Netarts is close by for most any basic staples we needed and friendly people that own it. Also, Lexi's Cool Stuff in Netarts is a fun little shop to check out. Tillamook has great shops and things to do for short trips and we really enjoyed just driving up and down the magnificent coast, eating our way back to the chalet! ;)
Some folks wouldn't care for alot of stairs but it certainly didn't bother us. The Chalet probably wouldn't be good for someone with mobility issues but my husband and I believe it's very worth the climb! :) (and I have a broken foot!)
Thank You Michelle for a wonderful honeymoon in your fabulous home!! Hope your herbs and flowers are doing well! ;) :)
Our family (kids ages 18, 16, 14 & 11) thoroughly enjoyed the Edelweiss Beach Chalet. A very homey, relaxed setting. Kitchen more than adequately stocked. Resort town a simple, enjoyable walk and access to beach. Views from the deck are stunning. Thanks Michelle, we hope to return some day.
It was so peaceful and amazing. The town has a spectacular seafood restaurant, and the beach is perfect. I would definitely recommend this house and love to return.
We enjoyed our stay here. The house is in a great location right across the street from a beautiful beach. Access to the beach is either a hundred yard walk to a path down a steep hill (can be slightly tricky with kids) or a short walk (or drive) through town to the main access point. The location can't be beat, as the beaches are gorgeous and fun to walk and hunt for agate. There is a charming trail out the back that leads to a bridge and many many steps up to a gravel road at the top. We had our fill of huckleberries off the bushes and saw a mama and baby deer eating off the plants in the yard too! The house is older but was comfortable and had everything we needed.
Wonderful Vacation Home. We stayed from 7/20/2016 thru 7/26/2016 with our Grandson. Our oldest Son and his Family came to visit us on their way home from a Wedding so that made it extra special. The house is adorable!! Well decorated and had a very "beachie" feel to it. The jack and jill bath worked great for us and the house was well equipped. I had read a lot of comments about the stairs before we chose this house and I must say they are pretty steep. However, with that said, they were not a problem just don't get drunk!!! LOL The property is great with the little creek!!! Had fun building a fire in the pit and exploring with our Grand kids. We spent hours on the beach collecting agates and exploring tide pools. It was great! A couple of suggestions but I am only writing these because I feel it is for the Owners, if you don't tell them, they don't know kind of thing. The kitchen has a TON of glass cups but none really if you have a child. The kitchen is very cluttered in the cabinets and such. I moved a bunch of the spices and things in the pantry to make room for our groceries so it might be time to go through and weed out some stuff? Seems a little OVER stocked with the cooking utensils and such. A lot of things had labels such as "hot water" so It would be helpful to have directions on how to use the garbage disposal. As it has 2 switches. We figured it out and were on a mission because the smell was nauseating at the sink when we arrived as we assumed the last visitors could not figure it out? The vacuum cleaner is missing a belt so it barely picked anything up. And lastly, The BBQ.....it needs to be replaced. I will leave it at that. I would definitely recommend this home for its character and the beach is awesome....it just needs a little attention. Thank You, Ken and Suzette Vogler
