About Michael & Rebecca

As former residents of Putney, every summer we would return and rent a home for 1 or 2 weeks. We have been doing so for over 15 years and it has always been the most wonderful part of our year. This is the best place to live and visit. We were so excited to finally find our dream vacation home and are most happy to share it with you!

Michael & Rebecca purchased this house in 2012

Why Michael & Rebecca chose Southeastern Vermont

Putney Vermont is a very special town. The rolling hills and mountains create the backdrop for an eclectic community of artists, musicians, writers, sculptors, craftspeople, farmers, gardeners, shopkeepers and so much more. This is a friendly place with a real sense of community, where neighbors help neighbors. Within 10 miles is the larger town of Brattleboro with excellent supermarket shopping , and a vibrant downtown area with superb restaurant choices, bakeries, movie theatres, live music, book stores, museums, galleries, and various other shops and activities.

What makes this house unique

This home is warm and comfortable with every convenience. There are tremendous views, a wood burning fireplace. two brand new large flat screen TV's (living room and master) and a nice sound system. The kitchen is spacious with great appliances. It's fun to gather in the adjoining dining area and porch to enjoy conversations and meals. The living room is warm and cozy, and there are books on our library shelves for you to enjoy by the fire. Besides the views, there are great walks right outside the front door ~ down the dirt road with it's canopy of trees. There is a deck, garden area, fruit trees, berry bushes and 15 acres to explore with this home as well as hundreds of acres of adjoining forest land.

Great return trip to Southern Vermont gem.

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time in this lovely property -- for the Putney School's Family Weekend and Harvest Festival. The views are gorgeous! We liked the comfy beds and high-end appliances. The kitchen is well-stocked, and we really enjoyed the porches and wood-burning fireplace. It's only a short drive to the Putney General Store and several nice restaurants -- and the Putney School. Thank you!

Best Vacation Rental in Southern VT!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay here, this time for 2 weeks and we had a fabulous time. As far we my sister and I are concerned, this is the place to stay in Southern VT! Great location, quiet and peaceful, but close to so much! The amenities are fabulous with a great kitchen to cook in. We ate our breakfasts in the sunroom and our dinners outside on the deck. The caretaker brought us fresh greens from the garden! The large screen tvs were so much fun to watch at the end of the day when we were tired from sight seeing! House was very comfortable inside when it was hot outside! Already planning to stay again next year! Putney is fun to explore and Brattleboro is only 10 minutes away! Michael and Rebecca are great hosts!

First-rate Vermont vacation place

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly as described. It was a perfect house for our family, who were there for 4 days for a graduation - comfortable beds, great kitchen, wonderful view, lovely grounds (excellent for croquet), everything in great condition - all you could hope for in a Vermont house. Michael was extremely responsive and helpful. We were so content that we ate all our meals at the house and so can make no restaurant recommendation. I can think of no better place to stay in the area.

Wonderful Farmhouse Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here for 9 days to attend a family wedding in nearby Brattleboro. We had a wonderful stay. Comfy beds, well appointed kitchen, beautiful views, couldn't get much better than this. The nearby town of Putney is very cute and was fun to explore. Good location as a starting point for further exploration. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful Home for a Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We knew we'd found a great place when the road narrowed, we arrived in the driveway and we saw the view! The home was warm, comfortable and plenty spacious for our multigenerational family vacation. A long sledding hill outside the door, a dead-end country road for cross country skiing, a kitchen roomy enough for a couple of cooks, and 3- season porches that we're warm in the morning sun were all major pluses. A note with a package filled with the makings for s'mores, and marshmallow sticks by the fireplace were nice welcoming touches. Michael (the owner) contacted us mid-week to make sure everything was okay for us.

Brattleboro is nearby and offers excellent food. We highly recommend Three Stones (make reservations; it's tiny) and Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe. We were delighted by the Brattleboro Museum's annual domino tumble. There are also lots of interesting shops, which we did not explore during this visit. For yarn enthusiasts, a tour of the Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney was very interesting.

We think the property and the area would be beautiful places to be in any season.
