We were in town for Dreamforce and as every year this time, hotels are outrageously priced. We rent a home on VRBO every year and it always works out perfectly. This house was no exception. Perfectly located for easily using the Muni Rail J Line so no need for a vehicle, at least not for us. The house was well suited for us 3 gals that traveled together. 3 bed/2 bath is hard enough to find in the Bay area, much less 4 bed/2.5 bath. Kitchen was well-equipped and very quick access to a Whole Foods nearby as well as a Starbucks at the end of the street.
Although I'd done a bit of research about Noe Valley before our trip (and that influenced where we wanted to stay) we didn't really expect to be so close to such a peaceful and stress free place!
24th Street is full of fab shops and restaurants, we had awesome breakfasts in Toast a couple of times, pizza at Patxi's was incredible (Deep dish pizzas = a pizza pie!). Whole Foods supermarket round the corner is an amazing place to shop - a bit expensive perhaps, but the quality is superb.
The apartment is very spacious, and with 3 teenagers, room to mooch and chill was very important. We almost had a disaster upon arriving though - the wifi wasn't working! ok, not a disaster for us, but pretty much time to leave for our kids. The owner quickly came by the early the next day and fixed it for us (plugged a cable back in, did I feel foolish?!) and calm was restored once more!
If you've never been to SF before, you probably don't realise quite how small a city it is. We could walk 10 minutes down 24th street to Church to catch the J car into town (takes 15 minutes to Powell, which is pretty much next to Union Square). Stop off at Dolores Park for the view - amazing!
Or, walk the opposite way to Castro and catch the 24 bus to Haight - two streets that provide some quite special sights!
Fishermans Wharf and Alcatraz are also on MUNI, slightly longer journeys, but tops of 25 minutes.
We had a rental car, and we only used it on one day out of the five whole days that we stayed. Parking outside the house is limited to 2 hours during the week days (8am to 7pm) but if you drive a couple of blocks south of 24th street, parking is unlimited. Just check the street cleaning times. We parked on Clipper, about 10 minutes walk away, but through lovely streets and past amazing houses!
The flat provided all we could want for the last stretch of our holiday - comfy beds, hot water, good showers and a bath! kitchen was well equipped and the living and dining rooms comfy and relaxing.
Communication was good during the booking process and once we were there. Vivian was helpful and on hand all of the time.
Like others on here, it maybe is worth mentioning that the TV choices were more limited than other houses, if your stay involves watching a lot of TV, it may be worth investigating with the owner.
However, in a city with so many sights to see, places to go, and things to experience, maybe the channel choice is pretty insignificant? It was to us! :)
We loved our stay at this Noe Valley apartment. There is plenty of space, and everything you need for a relaxing stay. The beds and furniture are all comfortable, and kitchen well appointed. The one very small draw back to the place is that you need to walk through the bedroom containing the twin trundle bed, to get to the master in the rear of the house. It was not a big deal for our group, but just something to be aware of. Otherwise there is excellent privacy between the bedrooms. There are 2 1/2 baths, which is great for larger groups. The location is wonderful - restaurants, coffee, groceries and unique boutiques all within a couple of blocks. The owner was a pleasure to deal with, and having a code lock on the door worked well for a group of friends who all had different schedules. The deck and garden at the back are lovely. I would happily stay here again anytime!
My Birthday could not have been better! My best friends under one roof, plenty of space, outside seating and walking distance to incredible restaurants, wine bars and taverns! Walking to the Castro was easy, the Mission for Cha Cha Cha's Tapas amazing and all around the perfect location! If you don't feel like walking, Uber was generally less than 3 minutes until pick up!!!!!!! Absolutely perfect!
This apartment accommodates up to 7 people with excellent comfort & all required amenities. The location is fabulous for Mission, Castro & even Haight Ashbury. I highly recommend it. We enjoyed the deck at rear of property, very private with lovely gardens.
As former SF residents, we wanted to be in a comfortable neighborhood close to shops/coffee etc. This is great, because you are there in 2 blocks walk. We were there with our kids--age 10 and 13 and we all loved having our own space. They appreciated the fast wifi. We would have loved more tv options though--the one tv does not have cable and the netflix never worked for us. We would definitely stay again. Street parking was very easy. We also appreciated the owner let us have the flat early when we arrived on a very early morning flight.
