Welcome to EKO Farm in the heart of Waimea town. We are a native Hawaiian owned and operated business. Our farm of five acres is diversified with a field of protea flowers, citrus and fruit orchard, koa tree forest and vegetable garden, all grown organically. Our flock of pasture raised hens provide us with fresh eggs. Our goal is to grow as much of our own food as we can sustainably and responsibly. Our flowers and extra produce are sold locally at the Waimea Homestead Farmers Market on Saturdays where you will find every type of produce to stock your pantry. We live in a home on the property and would be happy to help make your stay a memorable one. We also offer farm stay work opportunities. Please inquire for details.

Owner Tommy was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. My wife, Micci, and I have been living in Waimea since 1983. I'm a retired police officer of 28 years. We love to garden and travel in our free time. We also love to swim and kayak at the best beaches twenty minutes from our farm.
The Owner purchased this house in 1988
After living in Hilo for 30 years, I wanted to see what it was like to live in Waimea. My Hawaiian heritage is from Waimea and it has always been a special place to me. We love growing flowers and organic fruits and vegetables.
Beach gear is available. . Guest are provided with a welcome basket of coffee, fresh flowers and our famous homemade jams.
Lovely home, loved the fresh produce and snacks. Great location away from resorts. Thanks, we had a great time!
We had such a wonderful time staying at Ekolu K Ohana Farm. My husband and I traveled with our young daughter and stayed at Micci and Tom place for a few nights at the end of our trip to the Big Island. We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by Micci who showed us around the house. During our stay, both Micci and Tom were gracious enough to give us a tour of the farm (including meeting their sheep and seven(!) lambs that had been born the week before our arrival), and shared many of the different types of fruit grown on the farm. You couldn't find a nicer setting or more wonderful hosts. If we head back to the Big Island, we will definitely stay here again.
Great property, relaxing, owners are very friendly and you get to feed the chickens. A remote location in the cool country, and gets cold in the winter. Waimea is a nice town for a few days. The property gets 5 stars, the winter weather gets 3. Bring a sweatshirt.
First let me say that Tom and Micci were the perfect hosts right from the first contact. They helped me with the small details and arrangements that make a trip to a new place run smoothly. The setting is a nice rural farm that specializes amongst other things in growing Protea flowers....the setting being filled with flowering bushes. There were homegrown avocados and other fruit waiting for me on my arrival. Micci's homemade jam was so delicious that I nearly ate all of it in my week stay. I stayed in a single detached 2 bedroom house on the property with a full kitchen, bathroom, laundry area, living room all spotlessly clean and nicely decorated with local art. There was a nice covered veranda and table that looked out over the garden where one could relax and eat. The WiFi/internet was fast and allowed me to work in the evenings as I was there attending a conference.
The things I liked best were the serene peacefulness of the place and the convenient location being only a 5 minute drive to the center of Waimea where there are excellent restaurants and other shops. The nights are pleasantly cool and therefore no need for A/C. The coast and beaches are just a 20 minute drive away or you can head east over the saddle to excellent hiking on the volcanoes and into numerous parks and forests.
I have been 4 times to the Big Island and this property, the hosts and this location is my favorite by far. I will come again and bring my family next time as it would also be a great place for them.
We loved this property. Quiet rural area, near Waimea Town on the Big Island. Cool st night - great for sleeping. Close to two nice beaches, and to Honokaa (Waipi'o Valley, Haw'i (Pololu Valley) and Waikoloa (resorts, if that's your thing). Plus, chickens to feed and a cat to pet.
I would have given this spot 5 stars, but didn't because the shower head needs to be changed. OTher than that our stay was perfect. Very roomy, nice kitchen, well maintained and Micci is delightful. Great spot to visit Kona side yet avoid the heat. The proteas and surrounding scenery are beautiful! Mahalo nui loa!
Explore historic Waimea town, home of the Paniolo Hawaiian Cowboy. Enjoy seasonal fruits and vegetables from our garden, visit local Farmers Markets. Beautiful scenic views of Mauna Kea Mountain. Minutes from must see Hapuna Beach State Park and other great beaches. Day trip to famous Waipi'o and Pololu Valleys or visit active Kilauea Volcano.
