Our Waimanalo Beach Home has beach access to a beautiful six mile long white sand beach, the longest stretch of sandy shoreline on O`ahu, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is free of rocks and coral and this makes it a perfect spot for surfing, boogie boarding, swimming and snorkeling! There are beautiful views of the pali cliffs where you can see hang gliders enjoying the Waimanalo breezes. Magnificent views of several off shore islands including Molokai and Lanai. Waimanalo Beach offers the most amazing sunrises with an inspiring start to each day.
Oahu's best keep secret is the town of Waimanalo. It is one of the only places on Oahu where you can get away from the tourist mania, yet still be so close to so many great activities. Waimanalo Beach is located on the East side of Oahu, and is just 25 minutes from Honolulu International Airport, Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head and minutes from attractions such as Sea Life Park and Hanauma Bay. Kailua, Lanikai and Hawaii Kai are just 10 minutes away, with fine dining, shopping, cinema and more.
This is your own piece of paradise, and whether it is a honeymoon, adventure, or family holiday, it has it all. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, TV, DVD Player, VCR, a lanai with a gas grill, a large beautifully landscaped tropical yard with an outdoor cedar sauna and jacuzzi to relax in at the end of the day, there is also a jungle gym and swing set if you have kids! The house has an outdoor hot and cold shower for an easy return to the house from the beach.
If you are looking to experience 'true Hawaii' then our place is for you. We are located in an area which the Hawaiians refer to as 'God's Country'

I grew up in Wamanalo and raised my 3 children there as well. Our family enjoys Surfing, Kayaking, Boogie Boarding, Sailing, Fishing and long walks on the beach, we love and respect the ocean and we hope you and your family will enjoy this beautiful home as much as we do!
Chris Laird purchased this house in 1998
I grew up in Waimanalo and my family and I love the community and the ability to get away from the city and enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside, unwind on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and still be minutes away from great restaurants, shopping, the cinema and all major Hawaii attractions.
The house is steps away from one of the most pristine beaches in the world, being on the East side of the island, you can see the most amazing sunrises! The house is set on a large property in a tropical setting. It has a hot tub and cedar sauna outside, a large covered lanai with a gas grill, swings and jungle gym in the yard and outdoor showers to use after the beach! It is the perfect spot for taking long walks on miles of white sand beach, surfing, kayaking, paddling, snorkeling, boogie boarding, etc., the Ocean is free of coral and rock with crystal clear swimming. It is a very kid-friendly house, yard, neighborhood and beach.
Chris was very helpful and the property is ideally located very close to a nice beach. The house is casual and comfortable, we loved the outdoor shower after coming home from the beach and the kitchen is well stocked. Boogie boards, towels, snorkels, etc. are also at the property and enjoyed by our family. We also loved having the ping pong table. Chris made sure we were comfortable and walked us through the house and how to work everything. We would definitely come back!
My friends and I (7 total) stayed at this home for almost 2 weeks, and it was simply amazing. The home has a nice large layout, and was well-equipped with beach toys, a ping pong table, and a jungle gym for kids (but was also perfect for a bunch of adults). The proximity to the most beautiful private beach, incredible outside shower, and luxurious hot tub gave us enough entertainment to relax and enjoy ourselves...going out only to fetch groceries. The neighbors were very friendly, and the owner was extremely accommodating. The local food co-op is only a couple of blocks away, and eating fresh fruits, fish, and veggies was truly a delight. I came to O'ahu pretty tapped out, and left feeling rejuvenated with aloha in my heart. If you are looking for a nice large place for couples and families away from the tourist scene, this is the place for you.
Actually spread the word, this is an excellent, comfortable, affordable place to stay and Waimanalo is a cozy and welcoming town. We usually stay with friends in 'Nalo town but our growing family finally requires our own lodging. We were nervous at first, not sure of the "unknown" with a VRBO experience. Glad we took the leap of faith, and would recommend this to anyone!
Watch for the sign as you approach, this place is so secluded, you'll drive right past! The walls and fencing around the property are shrouded with greenery, the gated driveway gives a perfect feeling of privacy and security. Once inside the compound, you would never know there are other houses around. Sure, there are neighbors, but you barely know it - they are quiet and friendly. Nicely landscaped, the yard was a pleasant place to be both day and night. The coconut trees and banana trees sure set the tropical mood! The swing set, ping pong table and zip line were big hits with our children. Outside shower? Heck yeah, must have with little kids covered in sand returning from the beach.
Inside was comfortable and welcoming. The rooms were well furnished and the bedding was comfortable. There was plenty of room for all of us, 4 adults and a handful of children. Everything you need was provided, from piles of towels to left over sun screen, to cooking and eating utensils. 2 grills on the lanai gave us a couple of BBQ at home nights. There were plenty of supplies from trash bags and paper towels to toilet paper and laundry.
On to the best part... the Beach! We have loved Waimanalo Beach since the first time we went there. It was literally a shorter walk from the house to the beach than from most well known beaches' parking areas to their respective water fronts. Plenty of grass mats, boogie boards and snorkeling gear, all packaged neatly in a easy to pull wagon for the short stroll to the beach. The water was wonderful and despite the heavy surf, still manageable with kids thanks the protection of the off shore reef which also keeps the sharks at bay, or so we told the kids! We spent every morning watching the sun rise over Rabbit Island and even saw some whales breaching, beyond the reef.
All in all, this was our best vacation experience ever. Chris was very accommodating and checked in on us several times, even tracking us down at the beach to say hello. Still on the fence? Just do it! I know we are about to make our reservation for next year!
My family and friends rented this fabulous home and we were all blown away by how wonderful everything was. The property was spotless, well cared for and had all the luxuries you would expect at a 5 star resort. The hot tub, sauna, ping pong table, zip line in the front yard, tether-ball, play structure and croquet equipment kept us all so entertained. The beach was so close that every morning we walked down with coffee in hand to watch the sun come up. I regret not using more of the surf boards, snorkeling equipment and boogie-boards.
Aside from the amazing amenities featured around the property, Chris was so awesome and accommodating! He provided us with a quick tour of the beautiful landscape, including knowledge of all the plants. He cut down a fresh bunch of apple bananas, taught us how to spot and pick a ripe papaya, and there were noni and coconut trees bearing fruit as well. The outdoor shower was not only very helpful at keeping the sand at bay, but was actually preferred by most of us.
The three bedrooms each had great decor and bedding with plenty of extra linens found in the entryway. In addition to the bedrooms the living room had 2 beds and a sofa that the kids really enjoyed. In addition to the beds and couches, there were a couple of air mattresses and sleeping bags in the closet in case more bedding was needed. Dishwasher, oven, fridge and laundry equipment all ran fabulously. I recommend going to Shima's supermarket (10 minute drive) prices and quality were much better than Safeway.
There may be other places comparable to this Waimanalo Country Side Beach House on Oahu, but we all agreed that we only want to come back to this property. The combination of amenities and privacy with easy access to the rest of the island was perfect. We cannot wait to come back.
Mahalo for everything!
We rented Chris's house in Waimanalo for 8 nights and it was perfect for us. This was spring break and everywhere we went away from this neighborhood was busy and crowded. The beach that is literally a minutes walk from the house was always private and had very few people around. It was the best swimming and body surfing we experienced on the island. The white sand beach seems to go on forever.
We went with our two sons (20 and 23 yrs) and they also agreed that "our beach" was the best.
The house was spotless and the beds where very comfortable. I even checked what kind of bed we where sleeping on because we need a new bed at home.
Our sons played ping pong every day while waiting for us to get ready.
The outdoor shower was a huge hit.
I especially enjoyed the early morning birds. The house gives you the feeling of privacy, it's gated and surrounded with trees. Very quiet neighborhood and great restaurants in Kailua which is just the next town over. You will need a car though.
The house seems pretty centrally located it was easy to get to and from all the sights we visited.
I'm so glad we did not stay in Honolulu because it was so crowded and busy all the time. Honolulu is Fun to see and walk around but not a relaxing location.
We will definitely contact Chris the next time we go to Oahu.
We rented Chris's house for 8 nights during spring break. What an amazing experience it was. Being spring break everything on the island was crazy busy, but the beach at the end of his road (maybe a minute walk) was seriously the best part of our trip. It has the best swimming and body surfing we found on the island. So relaxing and private.
We went with our two sons (20 and 23 yrs) and they also thought "our beach" was the best. Hardly anyone there and perfect white sand beach.
Chris's house is very nice and was perfect for us. Very private and the early morning birds where wonderful. All the beds where very comfortable and the house was spotless. The outdoor shower was a huge hit! Our sons played ping pong everyday. It is a perfect location too. Not too far from anything. You definitely need a car though.
Thank you you Chris for contributing to a perfect holiday! Mahalo!
