Our Waimanalo Beach Home has beach access to a beautiful six mile long white sand beach, the longest stretch of sandy shoreline on O`ahu, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is free of rocks and coral and this makes it a perfect spot for surfing, boogie boarding, swimming and snorkeling! There are beautiful views of the pali cliffs where you can see hang gliders enjoying the Waimanalo breezes. Magnificent views of several off shore islands including Molokai and Lanai. Waimanalo Beach offers the most amazing sunrises with an inspiring start to each day.
Oahu's best keep secret is the town of Waimanalo. It is one of the only places on Oahu where you can get away from the tourist mania, yet still be so close to so many great activities. Waimanalo Beach is located on the East side of Oahu, and is just 25 minutes from Honolulu International Airport, Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head and minutes from attractions such as Sea Life Park and Hanauma Bay. Kailua, Lanikai and Hawaii Kai are just 10 minutes away, with fine dining, shopping, cinema and more.
This is your own piece of paradise, and whether it is a honeymoon, adventure, or family holiday, it has it all. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, TV, DVD Player, VCR, a lanai with a gas grill, a large beautifully landscaped tropical yard with an outdoor cedar sauna and jacuzzi to relax in at the end of the day, there is also a jungle gym and swing set if you have kids! The house has an outdoor hot and cold shower for an easy return to the house from the beach.
If you are looking to experience 'true Hawaii' then our place is for you. We are located in an area which the Hawaiians refer to as 'God's Country'

I grew up in Wamanalo and raised my 3 children there as well. Our family enjoys Surfing, Kayaking, Boogie Boarding, Sailing, Fishing and long walks on the beach, we love and respect the ocean and we hope you and your family will enjoy this beautiful home as much as we do!
Chris Laird purchased this house in 1998
I grew up in Waimanalo and my family and I love the community and the ability to get away from the city and enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside, unwind on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and still be minutes away from great restaurants, shopping, the cinema and all major Hawaii attractions.
The house is steps away from one of the most pristine beaches in the world, being on the East side of the island, you can see the most amazing sunrises! The house is set on a large property in a tropical setting. It has a hot tub and cedar sauna outside, a large covered lanai with a gas grill, swings and jungle gym in the yard and outdoor showers to use after the beach! It is the perfect spot for taking long walks on miles of white sand beach, surfing, kayaking, paddling, snorkeling, boogie boarding, etc., the Ocean is free of coral and rock with crystal clear swimming. It is a very kid-friendly house, yard, neighborhood and beach.
Awesome Christmas vacation homebase for our family of 8! The spacious, well appointed house & big, private lushly landscaped yard were great & had a good mix of communal & private space. We made good use of the hot tub & sauna when the winds picked up & clouds rolled in. The outdoor shower (with hot water) was ideal for post beach rinses. Our teenage kids appreciated the selection of body boards as the surf was decent sized and they were up for dawn patrol every morning. After venturing out to Waikiki, Kailua, & the North Shore, we all agreed that Waimanalo beach was the best of them all and far less crowded. Chris, the owner, was super helpful & stopped by to check in on us a couple days into the trip. All in all, we loved the place as well as the beauty & chill vibe of Waimanalo.
loved our time at this vacation house. The location is great super close to the beach. Chris the owner was very helpful working to squeeze us between the other renters and made sure the house was clean when we came. Plenty of space and great for kids too. We would definitely love to come back.
We stayed at Chris's house for about a week. Were 2 families with a total of 8 people. The house was very spacious. The best part about the house was the outdoor space. Huge fenced in space. Our kids were running around all the time. The proximity to the pristine waimanalo beach was great too. Chris was very helpful throughout the reservation process. The house was a bit old but very clean and well kept. As other reviewers had pointed out there is a rooster that makes noise early morning (starting around 2am) but the noise isn't too loud and it didn't bother us too much. The kids loved the outside shower and the zipline!
Thank you for your hospitality. The house was wonderful and so close to the beach. Chris had a new stroller brought in for us knowing that there'll be a baby coming. Everything about the house were as the described on VRBO. The house was big and had a wonderful lanai that the 8 of us spent a lot of time in. All our meals were eaten there as well. The outdoor shower was great!
We had a wonderful time staying in Chris house. Everything was as described and better, very private since huge plants surround most of the property. Though its an older property, the house is in good condition, very clean and we had a ton of fluffy towels! Lots of beach toys too, and a wagon to truck it all to the beach. The yard was perfect for our 2 kids (baby and kid) and the older (6 adults) ones enjoyed the quite neighborhood and the short walk to the beach. We toured the island and saw many beaches, but kept coming back to 'our' beach here. The kids were actually slightly bored when we went to Waikiki once. Only downside was it was windy and there were some nasty jellyfish blown towards the beach. There was concern that there was AC only in one of the rooms, but we did not use it at all, just opened all the windows and enjoyed the breeze. We also loved the big lanai, that was in fact the best part (though the outdoor shower was pretty cool too)! We were out there from early morning, to late at night. Chris came by a couple of days into our stay and made sure we had everything and explained all the fruit trees and other useful shrubs in the yard. All in all perfect stay for our needs. However, if you are not used to the Oahu chickens, beware, they will wake you starting 4.30 am! We went twice to Ono Steaks and Shrimp, which was ok, and went for poke at the local supermarket (Shimas ) as well as to Kailua for shopping (15min drive).
Since my parents live on Oahu they had the opportunity to check out all of the properties we short-listed via internet. After my parents met Chris at his house we didn’t have to think twice and booked it. And it turned out to be the perfect choice for our vacation and family reunion. The house and the garden were more than big enough for the 8 of us staying there. My parents visited us every day and we spend some great time together especially in the evenings on the lanai. The property is very family-friendly. Our two kids loved the huge garden and the outdoor toy devices. The property is all fenced, so we could let the kids run around. House and garden are maintained very well. The house is furnished very lovingly and it was very clean. The WiFi works perfectly. So does the bluetooth stereo which we used a lot to listen to Hawaiian music for example from Ledward Kaapana (tip: he performs at Honey’s). The sport channels on the TV gave us the chance to watch the matches of the German soccer team at the European Championship. The property sits in a very quiet residential area. Like most of the residents in this area also the neighbors to the right and to the left are locals. So we felt that this area is authentic Hawaiian. Nearby there is everything necessary: supermarkets, restaurants, post office, gas station, health centre and several little nice souvenir shops for our wives (they bought jewelry while we were watching football). When you step out of the property onto the street, to the right you have a great view at the mountains. To the left you take the real short walk to the beach. And what a beach this is: fine and white sand, turquoise-blue and warm water, nice waves which were big enough to play in but not too strong for the kids, shady trees, great scenery with the green mountains in the back and – the best thing – not crowded at all. Most of the times we had a beach section for ourselves. When we went to the beach to watch the sunrise, there was a handful of people at the entire beach. During our sightseeing tours all around the island we stopped at a lot of beaches (Sandy, Waikiki, Yokohama, Waimea, Bellows, Kailua, …) and we all agreed on, that Waimanalo beach is the best. To sum up, it was the perfect property to stay at for the vacation we dreamed of: hanging loose in paradise. Chris, mahalo again for letting us stay at your beautiful place. And mahalo nui loa from Thomas for helping him getting back his wallet that he forgot at your house.
A lot of people love to take their kids to Sea Life Park - which is only about 5 minutes or less away by car. Also, the Makapu'u Trail hike is only about 5 minutes away by car as well - it is a great hike up a new paved road that offers scenic views and during the season - excellent whale watching!
