Beautiful Villa

  • 4 of 5

This place was great - location on that water with a few things for the kids to do. The house had a great kitchen with an island that made me want to come home and remodel my own kitchen. The only downside that we had with this place were the mosquitoes/no seeums. We kept the doors opens but the screens closed and myself and my children ended up being eaten the first few days we were there. It was suggested that we burn citronella candles in the house but I wasn't comfortable doing that. I also didn't want to spray down with bug spray just to hang out in the house or before we went to bed.

As long as the biting bugs are at bay, this place is fantastic! Great location close to everything we needed.

Owner's Response: Dear Merri Beth, We appreciate you taking the time to write this lovely review. We are happy the kitchen inspired you to go home and start designing your new kitchen. The only time that we experiance no seeums is at dusk if there is NO breeze at all. Luckily, that is not often. From my experience I recommend that when guests leave the beach, that they rinse off their ankles and feet at the resort showers and dry with a towel as most that is where the bites come from. The only other place is if you are at a restaurant or sitting on a wooden deck with open slats at dusk. Thus, most restaurants offer bug spray for that time period. We call them ankle biters. We also leave cortisone cream in our linen closet to rub on your ankles to stop the itching. They bug some people and not others. Luckily the island is generally quite breezy so they are not an issue. Citronella candles are also provided outside and a bottle of bug spray in the cupboards, if needed. We offer the mild skin so soft bug spray so better to use it as a precaution if you are prone to bites. Also, in the morning when you get into your rental car spray the floor with bug spray. They settle there at night time. Also, I recommend putting a towel on the seat of your rental car to protect the seats from wet bathing suits as well as yourself. We hope to see you again. Hidden Treasure!

This Gorgeous Villa was even BETTER than we imagined. Built only 4 years ago, with all the builders upgrades & more. Items imported from NYC, made us feel right at home. Both bathrooms have floor to ceiling tiles, as these are expensive tiles. Kohl fixtures and lovely furniture. The centre island in the kitchen made it very enjoyable to prepare a meal, with the screen doors open to the balcony, with a lovely breeze coming thru. The Weber BBQ seared our NY Strip Loins that we got from IGA to perfection. The owners had a well stocked spice rack with Montreal Steak Spike, Chicken spice, BBQ Spice, Lemon pepper, Garlic & more. We were very impressed with the hostess & the spotless condition of the villa, with a light lavender scent, which I love. Upon arrival, Jocelyn greeted us with the most delicious Tropical Rum Punch. It was just what we were craving. She was lovely and told us about some great spots that we must go to, plus a few things that were happening during the week we were there. We went to the Fish Fry, Conch Shack and listened to Stanley Roots sing and play the guitar (as close to Bob Marley as we have ever been.) Friday Night Quinton Dean played at Shark bite. We heard that he went on tour with Prince a few years ago. Prince has a luxury Villa here, we rented a seadoo and followed the shoreline over to Long Bay Beach and saw his villa on the way. We continued out to this big ship that we were told ran aground in a storm. Then we cruised thru the Leeward Channel and docked at Blue Haven Marina. We walked over to Blue Haven Resort. It has the most beautiful infinity pool and a sunken pool bar. We went swimming in the pool and had lunch there. A couple came by and asked us to play beach volley ball so we joined in and met a lot of nice people from all over the world. They had not been anywhere except the resort and loved that we rented a villa. So we picked them up the next night and showed them around the island a bit and we went to Coco Bistro for dinner with them. The ceiling is a canopy of Palm Trees, it was truly a lovely dining experience. Then we heard the Anacaona (the longest bar) at the Grace Bay Club was a great place to relax and have a Cappacino after dinner. The guest directory at the villa raved about it and they were correct. We had the best time. There are hanging lanterns, tiki torches, sofas with comfy cushions under lit palm trees, around the outdoor fire pits, you could hear the waves crashing and the look up at the stars!

Saved a Fortune!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful property provided two large bedrooms each with their own full bathrooms, central air conditioning on the inter coastal canal that leads to the ocean! We reserved it for a week, paid a LOT less than we would have at one of the resorts and weren't limited to any one beach on any day. We rented a jeep for the week and went to a different resort (no charge) every day! We talked with people at the resorts and they were stuck at their hotels because cab fares were so pricy and they talked about how they didn't really see any of the island. We'd highly recommend this as a very viable alternative to the expensive resorts as it saves you lots of money and gives you the flexibility to drive around the island visiting many different resorts or beaches.

Great 3 weeks

Jan 22/14- Feb 10/14

Greeted @ airport by Katherine and followed her back to Villa, where rum punch was waiting to help us get ready for the Caribbean life style

She provided helpful information ie: as to what to see and expect, took out map of island and circled and noted special places (referred to often during visit)

The pictures of the Villa are exactly what we encountered, very relaxing on the Lanai and down by the floating dock

Felt at home within first day, Kitchen very functional and breakfast bar allowed conversation while preparing meals

Plenty of on sight utensils, and what ever missing was quickly looked after by Katherine

Any thing that was a concern was addressed quickly either by cell phone or we used e-mail and she got back to us very quickly

The property was very clean upon arrival, with enough linens etc.

I would have no qualms to recommend this property to others it really was an oasis in a dry area that gave us peace of mind and body

We had a very nice day with Ocean vibes, dolphins, snorkeling, conch catching (not hard) iguana island, highly recommended

Ate most meals in Villa however did have a nice Lunch at Hemingways @ the Sands Resort, Shark bite was beautiful to look over the bay with fish and chips and a local beverage (TurkHead on Draught)

Also enjoyed Danny Bouy's in Grace Bay Area

Smith Reef and Coral Garden Great for snorkeling off shore not too busy, take SPF or in 20 min. you will start to burn

We would certainly stay at villa again if we return to the Turks and Caicos Islands

Wonderful family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Me, my husband and our 3 children (ages 9, 8 & 4 years) spent 10 fabulous days here! When we arrived there was rum punch, beer, pineapple juice and water waiting for us at the house along with fresh flowers on the granite island. Katherine was there to review things with us and the house looked great! We were very impressed and happy we decided to chose Sweet Escape! We rented a car for our entire 10 day trip and everything was just a few minutes away. You do drive on the left side of the road and the steering wheel in the car was on the right side. We bought groceries at "Graceway" which is just down the road and even though groceries are much more costly than in the US, you save a lot of money by not having to eat all of your meals at restaurants. We enjoyed eating every breakfast and supper on the patio - no bugs and always warm temperatures. The gas grill was great, we used it often! You can even buy fresh fish and lobster for a fraction of what you would pay in the grocery store from a local who sits in a parking lot (a filet of Red Snapper to feed 2 adults for $14). Big flat screen TV with many, many channels was great for the kids to wind down with in the evening. Katherine and Wayne were very quick and happy to respond to all of my emails and questions prior to our arrival. They were both very enjoyable to work with!! There are 2 beach chairs, an umbrella, snorkel gear and beach toys for kids to take with you to the beach. There is a kayak, lifejackets, water trampoline and fishing poles to use on the canal that the house sits on - just buy squid at the local grocery store for bait. There is a big cooler at the house which we packed everyday and took with us on all of our adventures to the many beaches there are to explore. This island is great for diving and snorkeling!!! There are lots of different beaches to just walk out into the water and snorkel at. The sand is so soft and water is so blue...the beaches are so beautiful! We loved Malcolm Beach, Leeward Beach, Coral Gardens, Smith Reef, Taylor Bay and of course Grace Bay! We did a half day snorkeling exursion with Reef Peepers which included a stop at Iguana Island. It was worth every penny - very fun for the whole family!!! Overall it was just a fantasitc family vacation! Highly recommend it to everyone!!! We were there Jan 7 - 16 and temperatures were always in the 80's during the day. We basically lived in our swimsuits and never were cold.

Gorgeous and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Wow!! What a lovely place to getaway to. This bungalow came equipped with everything you could possibly need. If we wanted, we could stay in and cook and watch the sunset on the quiet and secluded patio or if we wanted to get out, we could get to most places within five minutes. The house was immaculate and very well kept. Each room has lots of windows with sliding glass doors and long flowing white curtains that dance in the tropical breeze. We have never slept so well anywhere. Katherine and her staff were incredible. They are very thorough in giving details on all the great places to visit on the island, what each place has to offer, and how to get there. The service was above and beyond. They also have discounts for guests staying at the Bungalow on all kinds of excursions including snorkeling and diving. We took advantage of this and again, the service was phenomenal. The beaches are soft white sand and the water is crystal clear and the people are so friendly. I couldn't give this place any higher of a recommendation. We visited several places listed in Katherine's book of her favorites and all were great. We didn't want to leave!! Enjoy!!! :)
