The enchantment of historic Parisian apartment interior with the luxury of modern kitchen and amenities!
Located at the foot of the 'village' of Montmartre, the apartment was recently remodeled to preserve the original charm dating back to 1869, while providing for a comfortable stay in the city of lights. With over 900 square feet and two large bedrooms, guests have plenty of room to relax and make themselves at home. Five glass double doors bathe the apartment in sunlight and allow access to two separate balconies that run the length of the apartment. The living room seating area provides two couches as a comfortable space to recount the day's adventures. A well appointed kitchen and dining table for 6 people allow for a home cooked meal of local ingredients purchased from neighborhood markets. The original wooden floors will tell you the tales of Montmatre's days gone by, while a short walk up the hill through the lively village of Montmartre will find you at the foot of Sacre Coeur, providing for a stunning view of the entire city.
In the village of Montmarte, there are numerous cafés, boutiques, restaurants, renowned pâtisseries and chocolate shops.
The apartment is located on the French 2nd floor (American 3rd floor) floor of a walk-up building. Three useful metro stations nearby (on Metro lines 2, 4, and 12). For arrivals on the Eurostar train from London/Brussels/Amsterdam, the Gare du Nord train station is only 5 minutes by taxi or 10 minutes by Metro to the apartment.
Additional amenities include wifi (fast fiber-optic speed), DVD player, cable TV with CNN and phone calls to landlines in more than 50 countries. All bedding, linens, and towels are provided.

We are an American family that have lived in many places around the world, and were luckily enough to put down roots in Paris.
Luke purchased this Apartment in 2010
Why Luke chose Clignancourt
After an exhaustive property search in the city we love (honestly over 40 apartments visited), we were thrilled to become the owners of our own little 'Château' apartment. From the first step on the original wooden floors of Château Montmartre, we were enamoured with the charm and detail that could only be found in such an authentic place. The atmosphere transported us everyday from the hustle of the city life below, to the decadent days of French gilded mirrors and marble fireplaces.
What makes this Apartment unique
We decided to take on the challenge of self-managing a few updates to allow for a comfortable lifestyle. With an expanded, modern kitchen, and a spa-inspired bathroom, we believe the apartment offers the best of both worlds.

Cozy, well equipped apartment
The apartment is just a few metro stations north from the city center in Paris in the 18th arrondissement. The proximity of the metro makes any trip downtown smooth and easy. It is just a 20 minutes walk (plus 200 steps) from the famous Sacre Coeur basilica.
The property is very well maintained and the organisation of getting the keys and instructions is very efficient and very friendly (thank you, Caroline!). We felt like coming to visit a friend's house instead of getting into a rented apartment.
The furnishing is tasteful and the equipment is very good. There are glases for sparkling, white and red wines, the cutlery and the tableware are nice and in sufficient numbers. A typical French bakery is literally in 20 meters around the corner and within a few minutes of walking there are supermarkets and small butcher-shops, and fruit and veg stalls. The huge French oven calls for a large roast to be prepared at home and enjoyed with family or friends at the dining table (it seats 6 comfortably but with additional chairs can take 8).
Access to the well equipped bathroom is via the master bedroom which is no problem when you can arrange :-). The toilet is separate from the bathroom and it takes a bit getting used to it.
Overall, a very fine place to stay when in Paris. We all, my wife, our two grown up kids and I recommend Chateau Montmartre! A good hotel is good but Charteau Montrmartre is just the better alternative when you do not call for the services of a hotel.
A very nice place to stay in Paris!
So many positive things to say about this apartment. Luke and his people are great to work with; very clear communication. Metro stop is 50 yards away from the door. All the amenities needed are there. We cooked a lot. The beds comfortably sleep 6-8. While it's an old building (which is charming) all the amenities are up to date. The shower is great. This is a big city and the street life is active. You are going to hear some of it late into the night, but we slept well. We will definitely stay here again if we make it back to Paris.
My family had an excellent stay in this apartment. First, I should say that Luke, the owner, was extremely responsive to emails and provided a great deal of very helpful information about the location, transportation, things to do, etc. I believe he provided more information than any other VRBO/Home Away owner we have rented from. Very reassuring. The apartment is beautiful, with an updated kitchen and bathroom and high ceilings and chandeliers in the living/dining room. The beds were not fancy, but were very comfortable. It’s a bit challenging to have the shower/vanity/sink in the master bedroom if you have guests in the other room, as well, but as we were a family, it wasn’t a big deal. It was great to have access to a washer/dryer and Luke has prepared a notebook with instructions on how to use the washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, TV, etc. As others have said, the neighborhood is working class, but also like the other reviewers, we never felt unsafe. The location is a bit out of the way from all the typical tourist sights (except for Sacre Coeur, which is right up the hill), but the apartment is just a block from a Metro stop that made it easy to get everywhere we wanted to go.
We are so pleased to hear your family had an excellent stay, finding the apartment beautiful and comfortable and my support helpful and responsive!
A true Parisian apartment!!
Our stay couldn't have been better. The apartment was lovely and very close to the Metro stop. Luke was very helpful, especially when a cab driver tried to rip us off coming from the airport. We would absolutely stay here again on our next visit to Paris!
We are happy to hear your family found the apartment lovely and my support helpful!
Thank you for taking good care of it during your stay, and we look forward to the return of you, family or friends!
I prefer to stay in accommodations that reflect the location I am visiting and Chateau Montmartre certainly fit the bill. The red, white and gold color scheme, floor to ceiling windows and balcony, parquet floors, fireplaces, chandeliers, and ornate mirrors all lend a very “Parisian” feel that definitely enhanced our visit. In addition, the apartment is very warm and inviting as well as spacious and contained everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the amenities of the neighborhood including the various local shops and wonderful restaurants, and the quick access to the Metro was an added bonus. Montmartre itself holds many museums and sites of interest which were all within easy walking distance. Communication with Luke was always timely and professional. I can, without hesitation, highly recommend this accommodation for your perfect Paris vacation!
We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the apartment, finding it spacious and comfortable for your family's stay in Paris, and enjoyed all the classic old-world French original style, as you describe so well. We love it too, that's why we chose this apartment, after looking at so many others. Its hard to find such original elements in the increasingly renovated apartments of Paris. We always try to communicate promptly and support the enjoyable stay and experience of our guests.
