A group of 10 of us booked this house for a New Year's getaway, and I highly recommend it. The house is just as it appears in the photos, although the view and isolation are far better in person. Several of the days we just stayed at the house and enjoyed the large social areas, pool, and view. The best beach on the island is just down the hill, and the owner had arranged for us to have access to free chairs at the various beach bars. Phyllis & Brenda--the house managers--couldn't be better. They greeted us at the airport with hugs and smiles and helped us with everything during our stay. We even ended up spending New Year's with them and some of their family! Edward, the owner, was responsive to all of our needs before, during, and after the stay. You really won't regret booking this house!
Every summer we pick a different Island to call home for a few weeks, splitting up our time between a luxury hotel and staying in a home that allows us to experience the full flavor of the island culture. The Hillside Villa was one of the most beautiful homes we have had the privilege to enjoy. We loved having so much room to play and the kids' enjoyed having their own bedrooms and bathrooms. My wife used the downstairs apartment as her private writing studio, indulging in its truly inspiring view. The views from every room in the house were breathtaking regardless of time of day, and even when it rained we sat outside to indulge in the experience. We love the fresh ocean breeze and found that opening the doors and windows allowed in the perfect breeze so that air conditioning was unnecessary. The kids loved playing in the infinity pool and utilizing the entertainment room, along with the pool table that beckoned between dips in the pool. The well-appointed kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy our home cooked meals and the BBQ was practically new. We loved that everything on the island was within a short drive and easy access, including the boat dock, fishing, snorkeling, sailing and island ferry to Nevis. Just down the hill, Reggae Beach offers your typical beach food and Friday night is lobster night - yum! They also have a variety of water sports activities for rental. And, if you are looking for a relaxing dinner out, Spice Mill is the place to go. The food, staff and view are fabulous! Overall our trip to St. Kitts was one of the best vacations ever and the Hillside Villa took it over the top.
Our party of 8 adults spent a week in Susie's Hillside Villa and everything I could say is completely consistent with all the other reviews for this property....spectacular! There are so many things to go and do and see but just spending time sitting by the pool and looking out at the awesome view was perhaps the best of all. Susie, starting 6 months before our arrival was a tremendous help with literally everything to include car rental, dining reservations, cell phone during the stay, deep sea fishing, places to go on certain days, private chef, and general info about the island. The Hillside Villa is spacious, clean, and completely accommodating for all 8 of us. All 4 bedrooms are large with 2 having their own bathroom and the two others share a large bathroom. One could easily seek privacy if desired. You MUST have a 4x4 vehicle or a comparable van powerful enough to make it up the driveway. Like others who have stayed here, we got the hang of it after a few times. Inform Susie of the details of your party and she will help you obtain the perfect car. Susie is responsive and so very nice. Her property manager Franklin is fun and also very attentive to your needs. Franklin came directly to the Marriott and brought us the house key and cell phone (we stayed there the night before we moved into the Villa). Franklin also helped us get a nice table at Shiggity Shack on the popular Thursday night. We hired a private chef one of the nights which was terrific. We went to many beaches and restaurants and the Hillside Villa is close to Reggae Beach Bar and Spice Mill Restaurant which are both great. Our week long island getaway was amazing and I would not hesitate to call Susie again if our future plans take us back to St Kitts. The Southeast Peninsula ( specifically Turtle Beach) is by far the most beautiful and relaxing location on the island. Thank you Susie and family!
We went to St Kitts to celebrate our grandmother’s 100th birthday and to have a family reunion. There were over 150 people staying in different locations and different parts of the island. We were the lucky ones to have chosen to stay at Hillside Villa. When you look at the pictures online, it doesn’t do it justice. It’s an amazing, beautiful and well designed villa. It is huge. It has all the home comforts you could ask for.
From the very beginning of the booking Susie was so helpful, approachable and informative and I felt at ease knowing that I would be well supported and looked after. Susie informed us that we would have to have 4x4s to get to the villa as the hill was very steep; however, after two or three goes it became ok.
We arrived in St Kitts at 5.30pm and Susie was there to meet us with her property manager Franklin. They had especially come out to meet us as the car hire company had let us down and we were kind of stranded which was very upsetting as we had young children with us. Susie and her A-Team rallied round took half of the party with the young children back to the villa whilst Franklin the property manager took us to the supermarket to get food for the night. They were absolute stars.
We found out later that Susie had a spent a lot of time trying to sort out the car hire problem on our behalf. This was over and above what we expected. It was getting dark by then and we were very unhappy about the car situation, however, we survived.
The next morning when we work up we were able to see the luxurious surroundings we were in, even as a group we had no chance of getting under each other’s feet because of the vastness of the villa. The views were absolutely beautiful and you could actually see Nevis from the villa. Every room in the villa had a gorgeous view of the surrounding area.
The infinity pool was fabulous and it was difficult trying to keep the children out of it. All the outdoor furniture was well placed around the villa so that you weren’t tired of sitting in the same place and you had several areas to choose from if you wanted to sit outside. The kitchen was well stocked with various pots, pans and dishes to cover our large group and more. The villa was great for entertaining guests and of course all the IT nerds in our group loved having the wifi!
We were in the vicinity of some very good beaches and restaurants. We spent a lot of time on Reggae Beach with the children, a lovely vibrant and frie
The villa is situated in one of the best locations to have amazing views of neighboring island Nevis. It is hard to get the feeling of just how large the villa is until you arrive. The villa is very well maintained and offers everything plus many extras. Avenice the housekeeper is very helpful. We had a party of 8 and she was very helpful in getting are luggage from and back to the airport. The owners Susan and Nathan were also very helpful. Susan always made it a point to let us know which restaurants had things going on and also would help with reservations. We spent most of our time at Spice Mill and Reggae Beach Bar & Grill which are in the same area. This beach also offers plenty to do for kids. My son had a blast on the jet ski pack and was complimented by many on the beach that thought he was the owner trying to drum up business because he did so well with it. Their are plenty of good restaurants on St. Kitts. We enjoyed Shipwreck Beach Bar & Grill, Raggae Beach Bar and Grill and Spice Mill Restaurant
I recently stayed at Hillside Villa for one week and would highly recommend to stay here if you are visiting St. Kitts. My vacation was shared with my wife, 18 month old son, my parents and my in-laws. The Villa was MORE than large enough for all of us. In fact, we had one extra bedroom that we didnt even use. First, the only negative I have is the driveway. The Villa sits on a rather steep hill on the Southeast peninsula of St. Kitts. The drive from the airport to the villa was only about 20 minutes. The problem was the driveway from the road up to the villa. This driveway was EXTREMELY steep and difficult to get up. It is a must to have a four wheel drive vehicle. Even with that, it was still a bit much, especially at night when visibility is low. Other than that, we had no negatives. The property manager picked us up at the airport promptly upon arrival. She was very friendly and helpful, providing us with groceries we requested. She also gave us a cell phone to use while we were on the island. Both of these services were part of the cost! She was super nice and helpful during our stay. As were the properties owner who we met on numerous occasions. The villa was ready upon our arrival, with a pack and play for our child and numerous toys and books for him to enjoy. They also had a car seat to use for our automobile! Again, as you can see by the pictures, the villa is enormous. A large central area gets great breezes to enjoy after opening the "wall of glass doors". This was a great feature. Walking out of the villa directly poolside with such a wonderful view is certainly unforgettable. The Villa also had a fully functioning and stocked kitchen to enjoy your own meals and snacks (food not included). The beds and baths were plenty stocked with linens and towels. There is also a billiard table to enjoy and a library of many books to read while you relax. We also got to enjoy watching monkeys in the morning, frolicking in the side yard. Turtle Beach and Reggae beach are two local beaches within short walking distance from the villa, as long as you dont mind walking up the steep driveway!. The best part of the villa is the view. The large pool deck and 3 out of 4 bedrooms have balconies with wonderful views of the Caribbean Sea, Atlantic Ocean and sister island, Nevis. Again we loved our stay and felt like posh superstars, for a very reasonable cost. This is an extraordinary property that is an absolute MUST when visiting St. Kitts
Turtle Beach is a quiet and tranquil beach that you will often find completely deserted. This is a public beach and you are allowed to use both the beach and the jetty even though it appears to look private because of the gate and small fence. This is a perfect place to stop and absorb the breathtaking views across the sea to Nevis while taking a romantic stroll or enjoying a delicious meal at the highly acclaimed Beach House Restaurant.
