Heavenly Home

  • 5 of 5

There are not enough adjectives to describe this property. The house has a very unassuming look when you first pull up. It is very cute house nestled in a forest of pine trees. When you unlock the door, the first thing you see are the cathedral like ceilings with ceiling to floor windows. The view is absolutely beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. It is airy and spacious. This house has a very warm feeling to it and is nicely decorated. It was also absolutely spotless. Not a crumb to be found. Every room felt like it was decorated to make their guests feel at home. Everything you could possibly need was available and easy to find. You could tell that the owners go through a lot of trouble to make you feel comfortable. The pool was great and the sunsets were amazing. Sitting on the deck at night and looking at the stars was relaxing and calming. Steve was great about responding to any questions we had, getting right back to me when I had a question. Waking up in the morning and seeing that view was fantastic. The stores and shopping centers are close, only about 15 minutes away and I want to give a shout out to The Blarney Stone Pub in Onancock. My family absolutely loved this house. We try to go to different places every year and I fell in love with the look of this house as soon as I saw it. It had everything we needed, especially the pool, 2 1/2 baths and 3 bedrooms. There were plenty of towels and linens and the washer and dryer were a must. We only stayed for a week and were not very happy to have to leave, lol. I have already let Steve know that we will be spending our 2 week vacation here next year instead of splitting it between 2 places like we always do. I cannot wait to go back.

Thank you to the Milke family!!!!

Beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I love the Eastern Shores. This house was in the perfect location for peace and quiet. Upon arrival to the house my two children aged 4 and 6 said that it "was beautiful". The house was immaculate, and the views were spectacular. The wall of windows allow views even from the second floor. As stated by the owner, the linen was left in the foyer for each room. I recommend stopping at the nearby Walmart prior to arrival to purchase supplies, because renters are instructed to completely empty the refrigerator prior to leaving. There are some spices available for use. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans. The dock is beautiful. As hot as some of the days were there was always a cool breeze at the end of the dock. Crabbing was great, especially with the 4 crab pots provided. We did not have much luck with fishing. There is a boat launch just a couple minutes away if you bring your own boat. We went kayaking daily. There were kayaks and a canoe provided. There was lots of wildlife including herons, ospreys, bald eagles, and we even saw cow nosed rays. Most of the day you wouldn't see or hear anyone else. The pool was refreshing after a busy morning of crabbing or kayaking. The pool has direct sunlight from about 11-3. There are some pool floats available for use. We only used the fire pit once. But, it allowed for views of the bay. The only downside was hauling your own trash and recycling. There are 2 locations nearby. With all of the crab shells, you will need to go every couple days. We didn't go out much but Onancock is about 10-15min away. They have a nice bakery and a couple restaurants. We are so grateful that Steve allowed our family to use his wonderful home and hope to return next year if available.

Great vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

This property delivered all that was promised and more. Sunset views were amazing. We used the quality kayaks everyday. Caught and cooked crabs right off the dock. The pool needs some repair but we had no problem using it daily as a refreshing retreat. I admit I was concerning that we were asked for a large deposit so early and we had to pay extra for damage protection and linens but the home is obviously a treasure to the owner and once we arrived my concerns disappeared. We use vacation rentals every year and this one was by far our favorite.

Helpful Hints: Bring your own shampoos & soaps (not provided as they are in most rentals).

Bring spices for cooking. Although there were some, not what we normally use.

Bring coffee pods, pleased to find a Keurig along with a coffee pot.

If you are craft beer snobs like us, bring you own beer. Not much to find unless you drive all the way to Chincoteague.

If you want any specialty foods bring them; although Food Lion has the basics, its no Whole Foods.

If you rent the linens pool towels are provided and you can leave yours at home.

Bring along a teenager to figure it out the remote controls for the TV and Blu-ray player. No directions.

Go to Blarney Stone Pub in Onancock. Great meal.

time out

  • 4 of 5

We liked the property, I can see the owner put a lot of thought into getting it right. Steve was very responsive every time I reached out with questions.

I can sum up the vacation in 2 words: rest and eat :)

We caught crabs using the traps provided (word to the wise, catching is easy, eating is hard because you have to fight the crab for every piece of meat); we didn't have that much luck with the fish, but that's ok, we bought some from the store on 13th close to First St. There's a walmart and a food lion 15 min away. We did all our cooking and the house came equipped with everything we needed.

The beaches are about 1h away (Cape Charles to the South, Assateague Island to the North).

The only part we didn't like so much was driving our garbage 15 min away to the trash center.

The house was beautiful, absolutely amazing inside and out and had everything we needed and more. We liked how the house was tucked away in the pines. This gives the house a sense of privacy. The pool is just the right size, and there are porches and large decks everywhere. The yard was very large, landscaped, and well bulk-headed. The dock is commercially built and is out of this world! The moorings for our 17' boat were perfect. Crabs and fish were abundant in the river. Sunsets were beautiful and different every evening. Owners were awesome!

Our family had an amazing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The house everything we needed. I love to cook so I always bring a good knife (most homes chef knives are terrible) but there were already a couple there. The place was very clean and organized too. We had 5 adults and 2 kids and had plenty of room. We had beach chairs think we would go to Va. beach, but we didnt bother b/c the pool and dock were amazing! We didnt have to go out to eat b/c we had PLENTY of crabs to eat. Great place, great vacation. Thanks!
