About Jochen Liesche

Hi, my name is Jochen and I am the owner of Landhaus Quilcene. Originally from Germany, I have called the Seattle area home for over twenty years now. I have created this private forest retreat for my family and friends in the German Landhaus ('country house') tradition. When time allows, we come here to relax, talk, play games, sit by the fire, watch a movie, go hiking, explore nearby towns, and, above all, forget the stress of the work week. Since my family and I are using the Landhaus frequently ourselves, we have taken great care of maintaining and decorating it to make everyone feel welcome and create a great experience in the country.

Jochen Liesche purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Jochen Liesche chose Hood Canal

Everybody who has stayed here always had a great time and mentions how relaxed they felt afterwards due to the serene forest setting and fresh air. Many of our guests have come back year after year and our guest book is full with nothing but compliments and people's fond memories of the time they spent here.

What makes this cabin unique

All guests love our screened and covered sun porch that allows them to sit outside and enjoy the nature views of the surrounding forest and Dabob valley even if it should rain. A quartz heater provides warmth outside when the temperatures drop. The two adjacent heated guest cabins are very cozy and afford their residents a lot of privacy while being only steps away from the main house.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This retreat is wonderful. It is decorated with a designer's touch, but in a very cozy and inviting way. All amenities that you need such as fridge, stove, etc... The grounds are beautiful, easy access to some nearby shops for supplies and central access to other fun activities on the peninsula. We stayed in the house comfortably with 4 adults and a toddler.

Cozy and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at Landhaus! The setting is beautiful, serene and quiet. The house is well equipped and comfortable -- warm even though there was snow on the ground and rain in the air the first 48 hours we were there. The location was perfect for us, allowing for easy access to beautiful hiking areas nearby, and we took a great day trip to the other side of the peninsula to see the Hoh rainforest, too. We only got to explore a small piece of the property -- the trail that circles around the house, which is beautiful and well worth the short hike through the magical forest. Our only disappointment was that the weather was (not unexpectedly) cold so we couldn't take advantage of the lovely deck and screened porch. We look forward to returning to Landhaus and continuing our exploration of the amazing surroundings!

Wonderful, remote property with three cabins in the woods perfect for away!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place to stay for my mother-in-law's 80th birthday family getaway. With the main cabin and two separate cabin bedrooms, this was perfect for a group of adult couples with adult "children." The place was was very well appointed, with everything you need to have a great time, even a cabinet of spices, deck furniture, extra chairs, and all of the kitchen tools and cookware you need. We were a bit concerned about the closeness to our own residences (Kingston, Port Angeles, Index), but found that we had more time to relax and visit without having to drive so long to the reunion location. So, the best family get together yet!

Wooded Sanctuary

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our family of 6 adults and one infant to spend the weekend while attending a nearby wedding. The house and sleeping cabins are beautiful, and having the one bathroom did not pose a problem for us at all. Tastefully decorated and with superb mattresses for peaceful sleeping, and kitchen which was well stocked with everything we could want including a beautiful teapot with teas, and beautiful deck with screened porch (both with tables for dining), one could not ask for a nicer setting to spend a weekend together. The house has lots of information on local restaurants/businesses, as well as hiking trails which are abundant in the area. Hope to come back to try some of those in the future. We, at first, had paid a pet deposit for our elderly dog, however she could not make the trip. The owner promptly refunded our deposit, no questions asked, for which we were very grateful. Would definitely recommend this lovely property to friends and family.

A wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I spent a 5 wonderful days at the Landhaus Quilcene on the Olympic Peninsula. It was a perfect home base for our many hikes in the National Park and National Forest. It was quiet, well equipped with everything we needed, nicely kept up and plenty of room for the two of us and our dog. Sadly due to the "Burn Ban" on the peninsula we were not able to utilize the BBQ or fire pit but that didn't stop us from using the wonderful deck, yard and screened in porch for every morning and evening. We will definitely be back.

Thanks for a wonderful stay!

3 night stay in Quilcence house

  • 5 of 5

It is a very cozy and functional house. It has a main tow bedroom unit with two separate cabins. Great for privacy. We had a wonderful trip in Olympic Peninsula area. The location of the house is convenient, it is closed the Port Angeles/Olympic National Park SE gate and other interesting spots. The host responded quickly and is very wiling to help. I will highly recommend it and cannot wait to come back again.
