About Keith & Virginia Wick

Allow us to introduce ourselves…we are Keith and Virginia Wick, proud co-owners and property managers of Butternut Bungalow, a vacation rental property located on Lake Sinissippi in Juneau, Wisconsin. Since August of 2012, we have been blessed with the opportunity to provide a relaxing and comfortable get-a-way for guests traveling from all parts of the United States to the Dodge County area. Our 36 years of sales and customer service experience have afforded us a natural progression into the hospitality industry. Guests visit Butternut Bungalow looking for a way to retreat from their day-to-day routine. As co-owners and property managers, our primary objective is to do our part in making their stay a memorable one. Keeping our guests' needs in the forefront of our minds has been paramount to our success. Virginia, with her design and staging background, especially enjoys making the place unique for each and every guest.

Keith & Virginia Wick purchased this bungalow in 2008

Why Keith & Virginia Wick chose Southern Wisconsin

Back in 2008 we began looking for lake property near the Milwaukee area. We have been boating enthusiasts for some time and decided it was time to realize our dream of living near the water 24/7. We had already built one house and were interested in building another, so we began our search with the intention of finding a place where we could design and build our lake home. As it turned out Lake Sinissippi was that place! We drove around the area looking for the perfect spot and while viewing one house for sale, we stumbled on another that had just been put on the market. A double lot, with a little garage/apartment on one and a spot to build our new home on the other. They sold as a set and we decided to take the plunge. We renovated the smaller house and gave it a name - Butternut Bungalow and lived in it while we built our new house next door. It's a great little place that has turned into a get-a-way spot for two. Celebrate your anniversary, birthday, honeymoon, or simply time to wind down. It's perfect!

What makes this bungalow unique

As the photo of us shows…WOW! We fell in love with what seemed to be a very well-kept secret - Lake Sinissippi. You can feel the peacefulness as you wind your way in to the lake.

W-O-W stands for Wicks' On Water and we'd love for you to come experience life on the water, in any season, at Butternut Bungalow.

Wonderful, charming and lovely bungalow!

  • 5 of 5

It was very hard for me to leave this charming bungalow! It brought me the peace and quiet I needed while home visiting family in the area. The bungalow is picturesquely located on the quiet and tranquil lake and to sit on the covered porch at night in a lovely rocking chair was a blessing. The owners covered everything needed for an extended stay (5 nights for me) and even more than I expected. First, the accommodations are top notch. Bed and furnishings are high quality. Everything was very clean and well taken care of. The kitchen was fully stocked and ready to use but for food of course. Well, they did include coffee K-cups which were extremely helpful as I arrived late and I didn't have any groceries with me for the next morning. I will state this...if you arrive late, make sure to bring groceries with you as any nearby grocery store or gas station is closed by 9 or 10pm. Which to that point I must say thank you even more to the hosts for providing a welcome package upon my arrival. They left a wonderful bottle of wine, fantastic cookies and trail mix. Truly, truly appreciated (especially since I had no food which was MY bad). Everything about this bungalow is fantastic. Quaint, well appointed, super hot shower, and overall superb! I will stay again if in the area. Thank you Virginia & Keith!

Perfect peaceful respite

  • 5 of 5

As a lover of nature and tiny houses, Butternut Bungalow was idyllic in every way. Restful and welcoming. Woke up to lovely sunrises, and the calls of cranes and geese. Beautifully decorated. Classy yet comfy. This will not be my only visit here. I look forward to returning in weather a little warmer to allow for some exploring, but this stay was just what was needed. Keith and Virginia have a delightful spot that I am thankful to have stumbled upon.

Thank you!

Fall Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Perfection from arrival to departure. Such a warm welcome with soft music playing and a lovely decorated tray with chocolates and wine. The bungalow has a beautiful view and is near so much. We enjoyed a beautiful fall hike at Horicon Marsh and a visit with a nearby friend. Wonderful!

Great Fall weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for the excellent communication before our stay, all of the information was very helpful. The bungalow was clean, wonderfully appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed a visit to the Horicon Marsh, a lazy afternoon rocking (napping) on the porch and a fire on a cool, beautiful Fall evening. You provided everything we needed to allow for a trouble-free visit. We were looking to get some "lake-time" since we sold our own lake home last year. Your beautiful bungalow in a beautiful location was a home run! We hope to visit again soon.
