Keith & Virginia Wick purchased this bungalow in 2008
Back in 2008 we began looking for lake property near the Milwaukee area. We have been boating enthusiasts for some time and decided it was time to realize our dream of living near the water 24/7. We had already built one house and were interested in building another, so we began our search with the intention of finding a place where we could design and build our lake home. As it turned out Lake Sinissippi was that place! We drove around the area looking for the perfect spot and while viewing one house for sale, we stumbled on another that had just been put on the market. A double lot, with a little garage/apartment on one and a spot to build our new home on the other. They sold as a set and we decided to take the plunge. We renovated the smaller house and gave it a name - Butternut Bungalow and lived in it while we built our new house next door. It's a great little place that has turned into a get-a-way spot for two. Celebrate your anniversary, birthday, honeymoon, or simply time to wind down. It's perfect!
As the photo of us shows…WOW! We fell in love with what seemed to be a very well-kept secret - Lake Sinissippi. You can feel the peacefulness as you wind your way in to the lake.
W-O-W stands for Wicks' On Water and we'd love for you to come experience life on the water, in any season, at Butternut Bungalow.
Excellent hospitality! Super quiet and very relaxing for a get-away. Keith and Virginia are great hosts and the property is kept in immaculate condition. We saw more wildlife - fox, family of racoons, deer, muskrat, fowl, etc - than we've seen at our own home! Lake Sinissippi is so peaceful and quiet, sitting in the rockers on the porch reading a book is what a vacation is about! Thank you!!
The bungalow was exactly as described, with tons of extra touches. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and would not hesitate to stay there again.
Thank you also for the homemade goodies and breakfast. I will be back one day!
We had a fantastic weekend at Butternut Cottage. The cabin was well-appointed and very comfortable. They thought of everything we might need. The perfect place to spend a birthday weekend (they were so thoughtful to include a few special treats!). We hope to come back again. Thank you!
Amenities are lacking maintenance, pictures do not accurately display the cabin surroundings which is located in the back yard of the primary home (zero seclusion) lake is only 4ft deep (on average 4ft deep - 8ft max depth).
Overall cabin was clean, cozy, and just what we wanted.
Left feeling we should of done more research before renting..
Cottage overlooks an uncrowded lake with plenty of wildlife. We used the cottage canoe to explore, and spotted heron, pelicans, and cormorants. The cottage is filled with tasteful and personal touches. Very well maintained and comfortable. A nice, relaxing getaway.
