We purchased this house because of its short walking distance from our favorite Cape Cod pond. The house was completely renovated two years ago.
Susan purchased this house in 2010
We have rented homes and vacationed in Wellfleet for the past 30 plus years. Over this time we have identified what we love most about Wellfleet (walking access to Dyer Pond, quick access to the ocean beaches, walking distance to town) and what we most crave in a vacation home (screened in porch, secluded setting, light and breeze-filled home, modern kitchen, outdoor shower, super comfortable furniture and beds).
We bought this particular home because it's located on a quiet cul de sac adjacent to the National Seashore. It's a short walk to our favorite pond and allows for multiple places to hang out and relax: family room, screened in porch, deck, back patio, kitchen island and TV room.
We have been regulars here since the remodel of this house. While we have typically gone there mid summer, last year we were there in June. Definitely going back this time of year. The pond is still great for swimming, the grounds and woods have that spring freshness to the growth and flowers, and the weather was terrific- warm but not hot. And the house is fabulous. Hard to
The interior of the house is absolutely stunning! In addition to beautiful and comfortable furniture, everything is easy to locate and the kitchen is fully equipped. The property, both inside and out, was immaculately maintained. The outdoor gardens with colorful blooming flowers, the shade provided by the trees, the decks and absence of bugs, and incredible outdoor shower are all wonderful. We are regular visitors to this property, thoroughly enjoyed EVERY aspect of our stay there last summer, and could not imagine staying anywhere else! A very short stroll from the house leads to Dyer Pond where the water temperature was perfect for swimming and crowds non-existent. Welfleet town was also uncrowded in June- something we enjoyed when wandering the wonderful shops, and eating at some of the fantastic restaurants in the area. In sum, nothing is left to chance at this wonderful home where even the sheets, towels, and dishes complement each other, lending each moment the pampered feeling one seeks during a vacation.
We did not want to leave this magical little hide away! The house is incredible: somehow two families piled in, yet we all felt like we had plenty of space. We loved walking through the woods to the little nearby pond. Or driving to one of many nearby beaches. And we loved being together at the house. We felt so lucky to have gotten this house!
I have been renting this beautiful home for several summers, and it is a wonderful vacation retreat. It is located in beautiful Welfleet, with it's gorgeous beaches and fresh water ponds. Dyer Pond is a lovely swimming pond just a 5-minute walk from the house on a sandy wooded trail (used primarily by residents along the wooded trail and very private). Although I usually rent in July, last summer I spent a week there in June; the pond water was warm and the usual summer crowds were absent from the town and beaches. There are eclectic shops and galleries in town, and a wonderful summer theatre to see plays and other performances. The house itself is wonderful. The beds are super comfortable, furniture functional and tasteful, and the overall layout is architecturally ingenious. You may not want to leave the house! I highly recommend this vacation house.
This fresh, modern home is tucked away in the woods, with a secret path to a secluded and refreshing pond. The owners have thought of everything you need to be comfortable, including a great outdoor shower and deck for leisurely meals. While there are some good restaurants nearby, we were more than happy to eat all of our meals there, as the kitchen is spacious and well equipped. The house was spotless, the rooms are bright, beautifully decorated and welcoming yet still homey- a true achievement in a rental property. We will be back again!
An exceptionally charming 4-bedroom with
extremely comfortable beds. Gracious open
kitchen/dining area/living room flow. A favorite nook is the screened in porch with
2 of the most comfortable sofas and chair
I've ever sat in. A large deck off the kitchen
where we love to breakfast and grill at night
and patio off the lower bedrooms. Kitchen
is exceptionally well-stocked w. new appliances washer/dryer. And a very large
outdoor shower. The whole place sparkles!!
And the location can't be beat. A path
across from the house takes you a short
walk through the woods to a jewel of a pond. Can't wait to swim there every summer. And both ocean and bay beaches
are a short drive, or bicycle ride away. Also
a great little town with restaurants, market,
galleries. Owners very helpful, quick to take
care of any needs. We keep returning to this
wonderful house, feel so lucky to have found it.
