We have always admired this very special unique six bedroom Lake House which sits majestically on a peninsular on West Emerald Lake. The Lake House commands lake views from every bedroom and has the rare luxury of it's own private beach.
If you want complete solitude and reconnect with mother nature, you've found the right house.
This past August we rented this home and the home next door. This was for a week of children and grandchildren in one family having a cousins' and siblings time with their parents and grandparents. The house was lovely with loads of room - so much so, that we didn't even use all the beds! Everything was spic and span clean! The little beach at this lake was a great place for the cousins to play and enjoy themselves. We also had the use of a kayak, a canoe and a rowboat and used them all on this beautiful lake.
We also were close enough to activities to do with the children whether it was rafting, ziplining, touring, swimming at the pool within the development, etc.
This was definitely one of the best places we've ever rented!
We had more room than we needed in this large house. We found everything we expected and wanted, including the private beach with plenty of clean white sand, boats and the secluded location on a small peninsula. The house was well cleaned and prepared upon our arrival. We especially appreciate the provision of sheets and towels, in contrast to most other properties we have visited, thus eliminating the major chore of bringing our own.
There is a balcony that requires caution when supervising young children. The separation between slats in the railing (approx. 8"? -- but I didn't measure) is probably too narrow even for my 2-year old grandson to fall through, but it was a bit scary. There is also a sofa pulled up against that railing, and I worried about small children wrestling on it. I suppose the sofa could be moved temporarily away from the balcony, but in our case the problem did not arise.
We enjoyed our stay.
We had a great time on the Lake. The property was beautiful. The house was big and we had no trouble sleeping 10 adults comfortably.
The house is very accommodating to large groups because the rooms are spaced out so that you don't feel as though you're on top of each other all the time. The large porch and bonfire area with a front row view of the lake was beautiful. You're able to eat inside or outside and still have enough table space for everyone. The house is very secluded for a nice private stay and is in an amazing location to make a nice vacation for all. My group had a wonderful experience and we attribute most of that to this great house!
Wonderful house! Ten adults had plenty of space and seating. One side of the house has a deck overlooking the lake and was a favorite place to be early in the morning watching the mist rise off the lake. The beach, peddle boat and row boat added to our pleasure and fun. Grocery stores are nearby. We visited Bushkill Falls as well as the town of Jim Thorpe and even another lake (for SUP and kayaks)!
My family consists of 8 adults, 2 children and an infant, this house was perfect! The lake is peaceful and the private beach is basically the backyard so I napped my son and sat on the beach with the baby monitor. We all had our own bedrooms and the game room kept us entertained on the only rainy day we had. There is a view of the lake from almost every window. We really had a wonderful time and plan on going back next summer. The homeowners are a pleasure to speak with. They made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I absolutely recommend this house for any family!!
We are a 100 Miles west of NYC and 100 miles drive from Philly. The Lake House is situated on the tip of the peninsular with lake views from almost every room in the house. Has the added rare benefit of having it's own private beach. Swimming in West Emeral Lake is permitted but only if you purchase amenity passes which are a small nominal additional charge (Call David for more details). The amenity pass will also allow use of all the other Community wide activities such as the use of the public beaches swimming pools (indoors and out) and basketball & tennis courts.
