Great place with awesome views!
We had the pleasure to stay at Markus's home while on a short stay. I can't say enough good things about it. The cabin home is situated in the mountains with spectacular views. Also, a very short drive to Eldora for skiing. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you so much Markus!
Great family weekend!
Elk-A-Way is the perfect spot if you have energetic dogs and/or kids! Lots of room to run and play without worry of bothering any neighbors. Also great to get away from it all without having to go to very far (hour drive for us). This was our second stay here and we've really enjoyed the relaxing time with family both times! Markus is very responsive and an excellent host.
Nothing Short of Perfect
This was an unforgettable stay at an unforgettable property. Beautiful, spacious cabin with so much character. On the border of national forest, so it feels like you have an entire mountainside to yourself. Stunning views of the continental divide. And a very considerate host who communicates clearly, just when you need to hear from him. I would love to stay at this cabin in the future...thanks for everything, Markus!!
Rustic mountain charmer
This was spacious and comfy, in a beautiful setting. The owner has laid out trails to lead you up a hill to a set of benches where you can take in a view of the valley and hills in the distance. There is also an odd wandering trail through what might be obstacle courses, play houses, or works in progress of some kind built of logs. Interesting to explore, but we weren't sure what it all meant. The ten year found it delightful. I enjoyed it too. He has been generous with little things like leaving out binoculars, games, and other helpful items.
First two floors of the house are not updated or fancy, but are functional and relaxing. The master suite is renovated and attractive, but oddly, the bathroom is one big open area to the bedroom, no doors. Unsettling, but we moved furniture around to create a divider for privacy., so made do.
The deck has two sets of tables and chairs so there is room for everyone to eat outside. Once again, functional, not decorative. But with the views around you, who has time to care about whether the patio furniture is pretty or not?
The kitchen is compact and well equipped. Older, but has what is needed. No dishwasher, but a gorgeous view of a big patch of daisies to look as while you wash dishes!
My family wants to return to Colorado and stay at the same house again. It was ideal for a family of seven who want to hike all day then relax over a dinner on the porch and play games all evening. Some beds are more comfortable than others but no one really complained. If you have a bad back, sleep on the third floor, not in the basement. The loft room bed was perfect. I'm telling you this not as a problem, but more of a head's up if you go.
And you should go. It was very nice. Easy to find with good directions, strong wifi connection, helpful owner who checked in to see that we were okay.
Lovely, rustic house in a secluded area that is inviting to deer and moose passing by.
We loved the open arrangement of the living area and the privacy of three different levels for the bedrooms and lots of windows and balconies to enjoy the views. The woodburning stove had plenty of firewood available. The large dining table was big enough for our group of seven to invite three more people to join us for dinner after attending a graduation in Boulder. The nearby town of Nederland was fun to visit and has a nice market/grocery store about 15 min. away. Markus, the owner, answered our calls immediately; and came to help dig us out and plow the driveway after a surprise winter snow storm in May! The only downside of this rental was the kitchen stove needed a good cleaning.
We chose this property for a birthday celebration and it did not disappoint. Fantastic location to escape the hustle and bustle and reconnect with friends, family, and nature. The cottage is warm and cozy and SO inviting. I immediately felt at home. Markus the owner checked in with me regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this property!
