Step in to your very own in ground private swimming pool and Hot Tub in my vacation rental home! My pool is heated to 85* degrees! How warm is your pool?
This is a hotel style rental accommodation that provides comfort only found in a single family private home.
This nice home is fully furnished including memory foam queen sized beds, all sheets, towels, basic dishes and cooking utensils, garage and off street parking, HD TV and internet, all utilities are paid by the owner. 4 of the 6 televisions have complimentary Netflix.
Located in a very convenient neighborhood inside loop 410, near North Star Mall and Alamo Quarry Mall (one mile) and the San Antonio Airport (2.5 miles), close to 410 and 281, so commuting to Ft. Sam (5.7 miles), Randolph AFB (18.4 miles), or downtown (approximately 6 miles) Sea World 17 miles, Six Flags Fiesta 13 miles is accessible in minutes from home when you stay at one of my Executive Rental properties. It takes me about ten minutes non-rush hour to get to the river walk.
This is a lovely corner lot with lots of trees and features a 2,000 square foot stone house with a large fenced-in rear yard.
Home features a master bedroom suite with private bath and his and hers dressing room (Queen-sized memory foam bed plus a Queen memory foam sleep sofa), three bedrooms (each with a memory foam Queen-sized bed) with a luxurious shared bath, living room that features a memory foam queen sofa bed, beautiful family room with television; home office area, fully furnished kitchen with limited cooking utensils, dishes and glassware, and a garage with an electric door. This home features an in-ground pool maintained by the Owner. The nice grounds are also maintained by the owner.
There is a 5th Overflow Bedroom in the attached garage that serves as an overflow bedroom and/or gaming room for the kids. Room features a closet, twin bed, wall mounted flat screen television. Bring your X-Box or PlayStation and the kids will have gaming fun! I do not advertise this room in the amenities section due to the fact it is in the garage.

If you want to have the pool heat disconnected during the winter (January, February, March) the cost of pool heat will be deducted at $20.00 per night. . Many of my Guests in the past have not used the pool so the heat is wasted. By turning off only the pool heat component, I can offer this home for less than as advertised in the rates section. Note that if the pool is not heated, but is requested, it may take up to 24 hours to re-heat the pool depending on the weather.
Traveler Tip #1: Save on your airline tickets: If coming by air to San Antonio, please also price flying to Austin, Texas and going back to Austin when leaving, renting a car in Austin and driving to San Antonio. Many of my Guests who have done this have told me they save an average of $150.00 per person. So if you are traveling as a group of 8 persons you can save about $1200.00 which could be applied to cover a huge amount of the cost of my rental to you for your trip. Built in savings like that is truly a good thing!
Traveler Tip #2: Save on car rentals: When renting a car, make an early reservation and watch the prices about every ten days, if your price goes down, cancel the first reservation and make a new one. Car and truck rental prices are determined on the futures market, and has nothing to do with the day you reserve. Futures markets change often and so thus do the prices of their cars to you.

About Jim Smith, CTA, Owner
Owner Jim Smith moved to San Antonio in 2004 from Washington, DC where he spent most of his adult career as a Realtor, Home Builder, and later as a Building and Zoning Code Consultant. In the earlier years Jim spent his free time as a Special Olympics County Coordinator in Maryland (7 years) where he set up a county Special Olympics program which almost five hundred Special Olympians spread around 35 schools. Later, he spent his free time as a community activist, being the President or Board or Committee Member of scores of community interest groups including his civic association, and also served on several Washington, DC Mayoral Commissions including the Building Code Advisory Board (8 years) and the Recreational Trails Commission which decided where to spend public transportation funds for recreational trails in Washington, DC (6 years). The fast pace and hypertension of Washington, DC was too much to bear, so Jim transplanted himself to San Antonio, Texas. In San Antonio, Jim has remodeled six properties, including his home and five other rental properties that are fully furnished. The furniture and interiors were selected for each home by Jim and his sister, Jan, and the results are fine rental accommodation that are reasonable in cost. Jim's full time job is making Guests comfortable, and helping them navigate San Antonio to its many attractions and restaurants. This adventure for Jim has been anything but a progression for retirement, having 14 bathrooms, 19 bedrooms, 26 beds, six sleep sofas, six kitchens, four pools and five hot tubs keeps him totally busy 24/7. Jim is a Certified Tourist Ambassador and is extremely knowledgeable about San Antonio and its colorful history In spite of all the hard work, it is indeed a reward to finally settle down in the same city as his lovely sister, Jan, and her husband, David. Great place and had a great time. Jim was very helpful with the "little extras"
The house was perfect for our group of eight. Ages for the group from 84 to 5 and suited the needs of all. We had 2 needing wheelchairs and Jim went above what was expected and provided 2 chairs at no extra charge. The floor plan worked great. We were attending my son's BMT graduation. We had no problem with the drive and my son enjoyed getting away from he base. I would rent the pool house again and would recommend it.
Mostly Gross -- but it kept the rain out!
I can overlook a lot and stay in a 60$/night motel, for example (and just avert my eyes). However, I'd say this house aspires to that level of quality. The home is functional, and keeps the rain out -- Jim was communicative and seemed like a nice guy which maybe explains the good rating the home has -- but I feel I must give an honest review to not be complicit.
My wife didn't feel safe in the neighborhood -- and 1 miles away is a "gentlemans club", and even closer to walk to pawn shops and check cashing... but then also a couple of miles away is a really nice shopping area... some cities are like this. A few sketchy houses in the neighborhood, but whatever. Heated pool, and hot tub was dirty/cloudy (pool needs a skimmer and closer watch of chemicals to clear the water) We could see our feet about 1/2 the days -- but anyway, the kids had fun, and that's why we rented it.
The inside has lots of missing trim/cracks/most doors that don't properly latch, missing grout in tiling that is filled with grime... corrosion on most fixtures, dish washer doesn't clean -- bedding is quite old (sheets were newish, but rough), master bedroom had half the lights/outlets out (so the walk-in closet required a flashlight). And topped with the smell of animal urine in master bedroom.
Jim is nice, but seems to want to maintain the property alongside us during our stay. After our 12 hr travel day, and him requiring an in-person check-in... after 1.5 hrs in the home with him, and his repeated offers to also come back later that night and do even more minor maintenance and yard cleanup, I politely suggested he just leave the property as is, so we could get some family time. I prefer the model where a folder is left on the table, and I can read all the instructions with a drink in my hand, rather than spend an hour touring each point of the home, and watching him do minor tasks. I understand his desire to meet with folks, and give them detailed instructions -- it's just not how I like to vacation/VRBO. I admit we didn't complain of much on our stay, nor ask him to help -- I didn't want more face time with him, and whatever minor fixes he could pull off in real time would be trivial compared to overall state of the property. We got a good checkout, no damage, followed all his rules, etc.
And it wasn't all that pricey, so maybe one get's what one pays for -- so in my estimation its a 2 star place, that can charge 2 star prices -- and you get a heated pool!
Not at all like what the pictures show !
We have rented many houses from VRBO/HomeAway and never had a bad experience till this house. The pictures make the house look very nice, that is far from true. This house was very run down, I would say the house hasn't been updated in years, when we arrived Jim was getting the pool heater replaced, and he still had to go to the store to restock the items that he provides, which he didn't bring them till the next day. The pool didn't get warm for at least 3days, the hot tub looked like pond water and smelled really bad too. the concrete around the pool is all cracked and sunk down, a big tripping hazard. The showers we with scalding hot or freezing, the dishwasher didn't was the dishes at all! there was only 1 lounge chair by the pool, The power company shut off the electric one more, when we right in the middle of breakfast and showers, then on our last day there the air conditioner broke and it was 90 degrees that day, it never did get fixed. there is plants growing in the door of the master bedroom, all around the house smells like cat pee!! We were very disappointed with this property, We brought our kids to have a nice vacation and it was one thing after another the entire trip. I feel when you spend that kind of money to rent a house it should be very nice and maintained. it seems like the everything was just falling apart there. I wouldn't advise anyone to stay there!! the only thing it has going for it, is that the area is nice and the house does have plenty of space. If we would have found another house when we got there we would have never stayed there, but since we drove 15 hours to get there we didn't have much choice!!!
10 adult members of our family shared this house for 5 days. It was in the perfect location - 15 minutes from everywhere we went! Jim put the pool heater on for us because the nights were in the 60's. We had not planned on spending a lot of time at the house but ended up doing exactly that. Everything we needed was right there. Jim was very nice to us and did all he could to make our stay the best it could be. Thanks Jim!
The house is a good spacious house. There were 10 people that stayed in the house. Plenty of room. The house is a little outdated. But a over all nice home. We had a issue with the pool. Jim took care of it ASAP for us. Nice neighborhood. Close to many stores and downtown. Would recommend to stay.
