Super Cool Place
Great place super clean very central to all of what we wanted to see.
Josh described the house very accurately, and there were no surprises.
We would definitely stay here again !!!!
Cute, centrally located house
This historic house was very cute, nicely furnished, and centrally located in a safe neighborhood. It is situated on a cobblestone street right in the middle of Center City, an easy walk from both Rittenhouse and Washington Square. The owner, Josh, was very communicative and kindly helped my family reschedule our visit when I ended up having a work conflict with our original dates. Check-in was simple, with a key in a lockbox next to the front door.
This house would be a good fit for a family (like ours) that likes and appreciates old houses. The house has essentially one room on each floor, with a narrow, winding staircase connecting each level of the house. I appreciated that Josh warned me before I confirmed booking that the steep stairs could be a challenge for my 3.5 year-old-son. Ultimately, my son had no problem, but our two small dogs would not go up or down the narrow staircase and had to be carried.
The house has three beds, one queen on the second floor and two twin beds in the third-floor loft. The loft bedroom does not have a private door. We ended up putting our suitcases up there to block the top of the stairs so that my son would not fall if he woke up in the middle of the night (which, as it turned out, he never did). Just something to keep in mind if you're traveling with young kids and plan to have them in the twin beds.
Presumably for security reasons, the window on the ground floor has been nailed shut. The weather was nice at night during our July stay, and we would have preferred to open the window rather than run the loud A/C unit on the ground floor.
Although the house has some challenges compared to a modern house, we felt that the rental price reflected this and were happy to find something affordable in Center City. We would stay here again.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Our family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers) spent several days here over the 4th of July. We had an amazing stay. The property was very well maintained and had a lot of character. Our daughter appreciated all the notes around the place with tips and reminders. We used the kitchen on the first night after a long day of driving and loved using the TV trays on the main level. Our favorite restaurant within walking distance was Bud & Marilyn's. Even though the owner was not on site we had no reason to contact him because everything was very organized and worked well. After our stay I had a question about an item possibly left there and Josh responded within a matter of minutes. I would highly recommend this property for a stay in Philadelphia.
2 days crazy busy covered a lot of territory.
Be ready for an experience back in time but with all modern conveniences. Close to important historical sites as well as amazing food- Green Eggs gets 5 stars and Monday morning is the day to go!
Lovely home. Enjoyed our stay.
Great neighborhood, small space
This was an excellent place to stay during our 3 night stay in Philly for a conference. Walking distance to many awesome bars/restaurants and the conference center. However, the layout is somewhat strange with the kitchen in the basement and 4 stories with steep, narrow stairs. I would feel a little worried about bringing my little ones who aren't adept at stairs yet. However, otherwise great and a nice alternative to a hotel if you prefer to be in a local hot spot.
Unique property, beautiful walkable neighborhood
It was a perfect location. We walked to the Last Drop coffee shop, Green Eggs Cafe, and the Italian Market. The history is so cool. The best part was the beds, though- super comfortable.
Located in one of Philadelphia's most historical sections we are just a short walk to City Hall, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall as well as numerous other historical sites and monuments.
