About Susan Pohl
I currently split my time between Florida and Tennessee -yup, I'm a snowbird. I discovered Watauga Lake in 2010 when friends invited us up for a visit. It was love at first site! The fact that the Cherokee National Forest surrounds most of the lake makes it that much more beautiful and unspoiled. After spending many summers on Cape Cod and fighting all the tourist traffic, this seemed like paradise...and it is! I have discovered a place that I can truly relax.
Susan Pohl purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Susan Pohl chose Butler
The views from this house are amazing and it just felt 'right' when this house came up for sale...so now I own it and hope to share some of what Watauga Lake offers to other people. I have been here for several summers now, and it has proven to be as perfect a family experience as I could hope for - as well as a great place for friends to visit. This is a place to have good times and make good memories!
What makes this Cabin unique
I fell in love with the views, hands down! The house is cute and a little quirky. The inside staircase is narrow and winds like a lighthouse staircase, but the house is cute! (There is an outside stairway that goes to the second level also). And the bath house between the dock and the house is so convenient! It is a beautiful piece of property - it just feels good to be on the deck there relaxing and taking it all in!

Special place, Beautiful and spotless 🌟
We stayed at the house for a week, it's a special place that must be seen. From the amazing lake and mountains views of every angle of the house to the house itself. Not to mention the close town of Boone which is adorable. And as far as cleaness it doesnt get much better than what we experienced here. Susan and Salvatore, cant say enough about them, available at anytime and with loads of information . We'll be back because there's so much to explore! Had an amazing time. Love
Relaxation and Breath Taking Views
We enjoyed this house for a long weekend! It was the perfect place to relax and spend some much needed family time together! The kids loved being right on the lake! The house was fully equipped with everything we needed! The view is breath taking! We would love to stay again sometime in the future!
Nice n Private
We had a very nice time and appreciated the privacy. As it turned out, this was the perfect spot to escape Hurricane Harvey! Thanks Susan for your gracious hospitality. Bob & Sandy
We were welcomed by a beautiful basket of goodies! So thoughtful! The house is so perfect. We kayaked everyday! Happy hour started early since siting on the deck watching the birds made life so easy. This house is in a great location to everything but yet far away that all you hear is crickets and birds. The pups also loved there early morning cool walks.
We will be back but for a longer time. Thank you for sharing your home!

The house and location were perfect. Our family had a great time and we plan on coming back again!
We were pleasantly surprised to find a bountiful gift basket and a home that was very clean, well maintained and tastefully decorated. We only had to bring our clothes and food, everything else was provided. We enjoyed a beautiful view while relaxing outside on the huge porch or from the inside looking through the many picture windows.
The owner is very nice, easy to work with and helpful. We enjoyed kayaking everyday and saw fish jumping out of the water, herons, king fisher birds and deer.
We'll be back for sure!
What a great week at The Lighthouse Cottage!

Thank you for all the attention to detail and amenities that made the week so very relaxing... from the welcome basket to the DVD library...fully stocked kitchen...kayaks etc., we thoroughly enjoyed the week and just couldn't get over the amazing views from virtually every room and the sprawling back deck! This lovely property is a real stress-buster!
