About Melanie Rogers
I have been coming to this area for over forty years, and have found it to be unlike any other place on the planet. I own an interior design company that has been 5 times voted 'Best in Grand Rapids' and have applied my skills to this property that I inherited and love so very much. I have now moved to Northport full time, except when I'm travelling and discovering other special places on this amazing planet.
Melanie Rogers purchased this Cottage in 1998
Why Melanie Rogers chose Northport
This charming home has a storied history and one of the best spots on the NE Leelanau peninsula. A beautiful, "rip-rap"-free beach of sand and pebbles, spectacular sunrises, miles of hiking and biking & kayaking... all in a beautifully designed and maintained lakefront cottage.

A Lovely Summer Retreat
"The Stone" as Melanie has named her cozy and charming cottage is a wonderful space in Northport, MI. Right on Grand Traverse Bay, the beauty of the land and water is paramount. Great hiking trails, interesting towns to visit nearby, great restaurants up and down the Leelanau peninsula, vineyards and wine tasting, water activities for kids and parents alike - or just relax and enjoy the day! It's all here. Melanie is a terrific host and made sure our visit was all we wanted it to be - super helpful!
The house is extremely charming and beautifully decorated. Very comfortable and a pleasure to be in.
The setting at the lake couldn't be better. Melanie is an absolutely lovely host, and we had a splendid time at this wonderful Northport house. We couldn't recommend the place enough.
Thank you for your kind words and for being the most perfect guests. I received the towels, and you shouldn't have! But thank you very much for that. I hope to see you back again in the future, and that your NY guests turned out to be a success for you as well.

Fantastic and Secluded
Stayed there for a week in July and it was fantastic. Super quite, and clean. Beds are great, kitchen is fully stocked. Just a great place to stay. Melanie is a great communicator.
Thank you for your kind words! I look forward to having you back again!
Wonderful house in a great location.
The Stone House is a beautifully decorated and well equipped hose in a superb location on the shore of Lake Michigan. We had barbecues on the beach most nights, looking up at a fantastically clear starry sky. We will definitely come back.
Thank you, Garry and Co., for your visit... all the way from the UK! I hope the rest of your tour of our Great Lake was wonderful as well, I look forward to having you visit again!
Fantastic!
We stayed at the Magical Storybook Home for our wedding weekend. The house is truly beautiful with an even more beautiful view of the Bay. The home was well maintained and sparkling clean. The home owner was wonderful to work with. We look forward to staying here for years to come! highly recommended!
Thank you for the lovely review, and I am so delighted it worked out for your wedding stay. I hope to have you back again in the future, you were great guests!

Charming cottage in perfect location
My family stayed at the Stone cottage in August of 2013 and it was a perfect stay. The location is secluded and on a private beach - the water was shallow enough for my 4 year old to wade out a significant way (I would recommend bringing water shoes as its a bit rocky). The setting is beautiful. It's also close enough to Northport to enjoy all that town has to offer. I was also fortunate enough to meet some tennis players on the court nearby, and got to play a couple times during the week while my daughter and wife enjoyed the beach. Did book soon enough in 2014, but we'll definately be back in summer of 2015. The bath's and kitchen are new and outstanding.
Thanks, Brian, for the lovely review, and I appreciate the reminder to bring swim shoes. The beach is sandy this year, but the rocks come into play as soon as you wade out a bit. I look forward to having you and your family as guests again in the future, you were great guests!
