Stillwell Point offers guests a sky high, heart stopping view of Little River's rocky coastal cliffs, islands, and sea arches. This unique glass and stone hideaway sits perched on the very edge of a steep sheer drop . . . hundreds of feet above Buckhorn Cove. This is the soaring domain of the osprey and the hawk . . . in which you can share.
Even indoors, you are surrounded by sky, sea, and sunshine . . . thanks to Stillwell Point's wraparound view windows and sliding glass doors which lead to a pair of patios on the cliff's edge.
If the weather turns wet or wintery . . . and, you literally find Stillwell Point wrapped in the midst of clouds . . . there's a huge stone fireplace just waiting to keep you warm and dry, a million miles away from the worries of your everyday world.
Our home was built into the hidden hillside, incorporating natural materials that were washed up on shore such as huge wood pilings, driftwood, shells, starfish, local river stones, old glass buoys, and ancient ship anchors which add to the charm. Native plants and wild flowers blanket the cliff which overlooks the sea below.

We had a wonderful time at Stillwell Point! I had no idea how secluded and intimate a location it was. There can't be many locations like it on the Mendo coast. We loved it!
We were lucky enough to experience both sunny and beautiful days as well as windy and stormy days as well. We loved both equally.
We've stayed here several times. Since others have posted many accolades, we can only agree. The location, the views, the tranquility and more - it's one of our all-time favorite places on earth!
We spent a lovely, lovely weekend at Stillwell Point. The house is perfect; charming and comfortable for two couples, perched on a point with the most beautiful views on earth. We wanted nothing more than to sit and watch the ocean, beautiful and wild. We looked out at whales spouting, made a delicious dinner and sat in front of the fire talking late into the night....We couldn't believe our luck to have found such a perfect place to come together. Thank you, Ina...we're already planning our next trip to Mendocino and will do our best to find our way to your house again.
My wife, son and I stayed here between Christmas and New Years. Our son has move to CA so we wanted a comfortable homey place where we could experience a home atmosphere for a few days and, I wanted to be on the ocean. We spent a lot of time at the house but also spent quite a bit of time at other local park-type areas walking along the beach and stopping at all the little "west-coast" coffee shops.
This place way PERFECT! The house is very comfortable, not new or fancy but comfortable. I love the big, stone fireplace - we have a fireplace at home so we really enjoyed that.
And the view! I'm not sure if I'm saving the best for last but the view was amazing. From the dining room table I could see ocean for 200 degrees - the open ocean in front of me and crashing waves both up and down the shore. Since Stilwell Point is high above the ocean (my GPS said 180') and it's out on the point so you feel like you're all alone out there. The bedroom we were in opened out to a view of the rocky crags to the south - that's the same view I got while doing dishes a few times. It's not a cramped location either....I don't know how much space there is between the house and the ocean...probably 3-4 acres, maybe more. Plenty of room to walk around outside, hike down toward the ocean. It was just amazing to watch the waves pound the shore and feel like you're pretty much out on your own with nobody around.
One more thing...late December is the start of a whale migration (so I've learned on the Internet anyway) and we saw them spouting every few minutes. The first day, we didn't see any but, I don't think we knew what we were looking for because once we saw one, we started seeing them all the time...typically in bursts of 5 or 6 and then nothing for a few minutes.
Oh, one more thing - we had deer wander through every morning shortly after sunrise.
My partner and I recently stayed for a week at this wonderful house above the Pacific. I can't honestly think of enough positive accolades for the location, the beauty and the privacy. We have been coming to the area for more than 20 years and have always wanted to experience the power of the Pacific ocean during a storm...it was rainy, wet, stormy...high surf of 30 feet hitting the shore line hundreds of feet below the house....it was awesome! Probably not for the faint at heart as you can feel and hear the force of the ocean but it was incredible. The house is definitely what you would imagine and expect for the Mendocino coast. Clean, functional and private on it's 2.6 acres. The owner is an absolute sweetheart to deal with and we look forward to multiple trips in the future.
My wife and I stayed here for long vacations nearly every year for more than a decade (cumulatively, I would guess we spent more than a year here). The view is beyond breathtaking, and the cabin is situated at the end of a promontory with the cabin nestled against a hill so that you see no other homes (except very far off), giving you the feeling of being the only people on earth. The cabin itself is functional but ordinary: you're here for the escape and the view. This cabin was the spot where my recently-passed wife and I spent many of our happiest days together, and while it occasionally shows its age in the need for repairs, the owner has been responsive when needed.
Our stay for two weeks at Stillwell Point was beyond enchanting! The pictures online do not do justice to the magnificent views of the coastline and ocean! Everything we needed was in the home and it was one of the most peaceful vacations we have taken! While we were still there we were planning on when we could return! It is a home away from home and with one of the most strikingly beautiful views in the world! Thank you Ina & Otto for sharing your lovely home with us!
