My husband and I chose to build our vacation home here - because it is so peaceful and the energy is so calming and relaxing there. We love all the different seasons of the year here.
Something special for everyone.
This was our second stay at 7th Heaven, once for a pre-graduation get-together 3 years ago and Christmas 2016. It's a great place with lots of space, good sleeping arrangements, great kitchen and kitchen equipment, two large dining tables, lots of wooded area with some light trails, great basement area. Would be great for a snow weekend as well. Most likely we'll be back.
My wife and I meet annually with two other couples , somewhere in the USA,for conversation, sightseeing, good food and comfortable accommodations. This year was my turn to nominate a site. I chose Gettysburg, a place I never get tired off, and the Seventh Heaven Lodge. The other two couples are world travelers and nothing about this trip disappointed them. The Lodge is ideally situated about 15 minutes out of Gettysburg in the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside. The pictures cannot do it justice as one cannot capture the beauty of sitting out on the spacious screened porch, at the end or a very active day, enjoying the serenity of the surrounding woods.
The lodge itself is immaculate, well appointed, and user friendly, with lots of interesting spaces for "alone time". Indeed, I am in the process of trying to arrange a return trip with family member later this year, including several grandsons who have long held an interest in visiting this historic part of out country.
We had an absolutely amazing time at Seventh Heaven Lodge. What a beautiful place, perfectly suitable for a group get-away.
First and foremost, the owners were great. They were flexible with us and willing to do whatever they could to make our stay exceptional. Even during our stay they were available to help and answered to our needs quickly.
Second, the lodge. It was perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better layout. Large family room/kitchen area that holds your entire group, no problem. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and dishes. There were plenty of bedrooms and everyone slept comfortably. The space was clean, towels, sheets, blankets, everything you need. The basement has a nice pool table as well.
The wrap around, screened-in porch was a great addition and extended the living space even further. We enjoyed the yard and outdoor fire pit all day and even walked around the trails surrounding the property.
We loved Seventh Heaven Lodge and hope to make our trip an annual one. Thanks again to the owners, they were spectacular. To anyone who enjoys a little peace, serenity, and an outdoor escape, this place is for you.
Gorgeous woodlands with walking trails,; a lovely A-frame home - well-supplied and scrupulously clean (including shower curtains); spacious, airy, comfortably furnished high-ceiling common rooms for gathering; screened porches with swings and lounge chairs for relaxing: a huge recreation room well-stocked with games, television, and a pool table (our kids loved it!); ample sleeping space with very comfortable beds; close proximity to Gettysburg and other places of interest – this place has it all in one package! Our group rented it for Family Weekend at Gettysburg College and could not have been more pleased nor had any better time. We have already rented again for graduation weekend. We had no problem over the lack of cell phone availability. We simply entered the house number in our cell phones; gave it to others as well; and used the house phone to contact one another as needed. The WIFI worked well.
The fall leaves were at their height and spectacular. The Sunday night campfire under full moon (an owl flew right by us) was the perfect ending to a very special time.
The owners (Thanks, Michelle!) could not have been more helpful or accommodating - great to work with in every way.
We have rented from VRBO a number of times and this property was by far one of the most outstanding ever. Reviewers are right – the photos can’t begin to do it justice.
Our family of 10 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Seventh Heaven Lodge. The lodge was roomy and well-stocked to accommodate us. The pool table was a big hit and we enjoyed fires outside in the pit. Walks in the woods and drives through the surrounding countryside were enjoyed by all. Gettysburg has a lot to offer but it was hard to leave the comforts of the lodge.
This house and property--is gorgeous! The biggest problem we had here--this house has NO CELL SERVICE! It must be too far back in the woods. It ended up being a very important glitch in our visit, as two families had emergency family issues come up and communication was a BIG problem. Some of us were able to send iMessages on our iPhones, but those people who had Android phones were even out of luck on being able to send text messages. The wifi/internet service in the house is very slow and the modem is outdated, which is what I believe caused the problem with the texting (there wasn't even enough bandwidth to FaceTime). The slow wifi also caused issues with our tablets and laptops working slowly. There was only ONE landline phone in the kitchen (for this huge house). Even though we were able to make and receive long distance calls on that landline, it was very inconvenient. While I realize a lot of people go on vacation to get away from it all and relax, in this day and age, we still depend on our cell phones and need communication and working, modern wifi.
Pros: lovely house set back in the woods; plenty of seating for meal time and pots, pans, and dinnerware; huge master bath with a beautiful huge tub; wrap around porch; all kinds of wildlife; fire pit and BBQ grill; most of the beds were comfortable and had nice linens; towels were thick and soft. Lots of comfy chairs, games and DVDs around.
Cons: upkeep on this property is lacking. The shower curtain in the master bath had mildew all over it (as did the one downstairs) and it was dirty in other spots in the bathroom (the maid service is not doing a good job of cleaning) and light bulbs were out in lamps. We didn't have enough towels to go around. There were only 2 TVs, and their satellite TV had minimal channels on it (again, if it's raining outside--you need to do something). There were minimal nightstands and bedroom furniture to store our clothes. Some of the chairs on the porch were broken in spots. The sprayer attachment on the kitchen sink didn't work, & we didn't have a clean dish rag or sponge to wash dishes with (only a very dirty sponge which we refused to use).
This is a nice play to stay--but the owners really need to do some upkeep. The lack of cell service was a dealbreaker for us; and, by the way, this place is a good 20 minutes outside of Gettysburg, not the 8 minutes we were told. Even though it was lovely, it was quite a drive out there. I'd stay somewhere else next time.
