Why Mark Nobles chose Trinity River

I bought the place in 2002. A fire destroyed the original house. The new house was built in 2011. Basically I purchased the place because I got tired of sleeping in campgrounds when I came up to fish during salmon season. In the winter it gets very cold. Waking up cold in a campground lost its appeal!.

I miss the old place and now that I have the new place I want to share it with others.

What makes this cabin unique

I enjoy the peace, friendly neighbors; clear nights and just cooking outside while entertaining family and friends. The fishing season can be great.

Perfection :)

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time I stayed at "The Cabin in the Woods" and I plan on coming back a couple times a year. The house is absolutely lovely and has everything you need for the perfect vacation. I grew up in Trinity County and there is nothing better than coming home. The last trip was over the 4th of July and we had 10 people ranging from 2 years-old up to 78 years-old and everyone was comfortable and happy in the cabin. It is a short 10 minutes into Weaverville and 10 minutes to Halena (our favorite swimming hole). I got the pleasure of meeting Mark the owner and am thankful he is willing to share his home. I would recommend this to all my friends and family and hope you will enjoy this beautiful spot in the future.

Quiet please

  • 5 of 5

I needed a clean quiet environment to write and find peace, and I found it here. The cabin was clean and neat; very easy to locate household products commonly used. The decks were perfect locations to give me different serene views. No city noise, I truly capture great moments of peace in front of the fireplace, and it's warmth indescribable. The cabin had all the amenities I needed which was a surprise compared to other resorts i visited. Flat screens TV's in all the bed rooms with DVD players, my kids will love their rooms. Overall you can't go wrong staying at this cabin, alone or with family which will be my next adventure.

Rented cabin cabin for fishing trip with two others in group. Great location on River with nearby access to some great runs for swingin/nymphing flies which was most important thing for us. The cabin itself was super comfortable and roomy as well. Great kitchen with just about everything you need for cooking your meals... Will definitely be back!

Steer Clear!

  • 1 of 5

Do not stay in this house unless you plan to provide your own firewood or want to purchase firewood from a neighbor..? There were rats in the walls that scratched all night... in the walls. There is no internet. Tub in master bedroom does not work. weird phone call from owner late evening... not ideal by any means. oh yeah and take all your trash when you leave, but pay the cleaning fee.

Owner's Response: In the winter time in this area almost everyone warms their homes by wood stove. For my guest it’s great added service to have good quality wood stacked and covered when they arrive in rainy, cold or snowy conditions at a very reasonable price. No one has ever complained. The house is equipped with and air tight wood stove with a fan capable of heating the whole house at any temperature. There are electric heaters in all rooms including bathrooms. I was at the cabin at the time I read this review. I called earlier to see if everything was ok and if there were any problems with heat in the house. When I heard of the complaints by phone I went to the cabin as soon as my next guest left who arrived a day after the reviewer left. Before I got there I received an email from my last guest letting me know how they enjoyed the place and let me know they wanted to come back. I brought Rat traps and bait. I stayed 4 days, no rats in the traps and the bait was not touched. I don’t know what the reviewer heard but I did not hear anything at night. This is a remote area and there is no trash pickup. The housekeeper has trouble with heavy lifting. The fee per bag is very small. Everything works in the house and it is a great value as I provide everything you would need. Just bring your food and beverages. I have guest that return each year. The place is clean and a great for families, fisherman and mature adults.

Private and Spacious Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Great place for family getaway. Six of us (including 4 kids) enjoyed the spacious and clean cabin with large deck and BBQ grills. River access is about a half mile walk. Due to the drought, water usage had to be limited especially with the roof water cooling system. This was due to drying well problem, not necessarily the cabin issue per the owner. We plan to come back hopefully when drought is less of a problem. Overall this is a great value, and we are satisfied! !

Owner's Response: I just put a fresh stain and seal the cabin, found out that the problem with the low water pressure was related to a clog in the water softener filter in the pump house. Water pressure is now normal. Cooling system is fine and does not consume water, just should be turned off when not in use. As with throughout the state, water should be conserved.
