The house was clean and beautifully decorated. I loved the layout and everyone had comfortable rooms with adjoining bathrooms. The outdoor Mayan temple by the pool was the perfect spot for enjoying the day and staying cool. The food was amazing and Amira cooked great meals for all of us. I highly recommend staying there. Enjoy!!!
My husband and I stayed at Casa de las Cupulas for our honeymoon. It was absolutely amazing! The island itself is gorgeous, and to be able to rent out this home on the island, made it even more wonderful. The house was kept clean for our entire week stay. The grounds were pristine and the pool was always clean and free of any leaves. David always kept in touch and answered any questions we had. He also recommended activities for us to do and provided us with instructions. Amira, the cook, was amazing! Each meal we had was delicious. One of our favorite meals was the garlic and lemon shrimp. It was the best shrimp we ever had. There was always fresh salsa, guacamole, and pico de gallo with lunch. Every day was wonderful and full of excitement. There are many things to enjoy on the island and every view is breath taking.
We had our bachelorette party in Isla Mujeres and were so in love with the house! We had 10 girls stay and were more than comfortable with the space. Everything from the kitchen, bedrooms, pool (with a swim up bar!!) , lounge areas, roof top, guest house, golf carts and hammocks were fantastic! We even ordered the same bedroom sheets online because they were so wonderful! Amira and her daughter took such good care of us that we felt like part of the family! The food was out of this world, definitely eat as many meals as possible at the house! The golf carts were super fun and a great option for getting around town. The homeowner, David was so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed and then some making our experience very personalized. My only regret was that we didn't stay longer. Thank you again David and the wonderful staff of Casa De Las Cupulas! They even taught me how to make the most amazing margaritas which will stay with me for life!! :)
Great experience. So relaxing and accommodating that I found myself questioning my need to get outside and see the rest of the island (which is pretty cool ... if you can break away!). Very nice and culinarily capable staff. The tennis court is in great shape- we'd wake, play, jump in the pool, eat lunch, nap, read in the floating bed or hammock, maybe swim or play more tennis, catch our college basketball team's game on the tv (we're diehard), eat dinner, relax, watch the sunset, rinse and repeat. Flora and Fauna are really neat and abundant, if you're into that sort of thing. Make sure you see a sunrise while you're there- the eastern view from the house is perfect.
If I HAD to make a complaint it would be that the internet isn't blazing fast, but I used it for skype and it kept a decent signal.
Casa de las Cupulas is a wonderful place to escape to in the cold of winter. We loved it last year and visited for a second time with friends and family.
There are many excellent places to commune and converse: in the large, open kitchen, at the long dining table, in the living room (an excellent place for games and movies), outside in a covered area (with a beautiful view of the water), and by the pool. And there are more nooks and crannies for smaller groups. It's these features that make it such an enjoyable place to visit with a group.
We had a lot of fun playing tennis, walking to the nearby Ixchel Temple (the Easternmost point in Mexico!), and enjoying the downtown nightlife. We even visited a fun and gimmicky ice bar. The island is small, which makes it easy to get around, and there's a lot to explore.
The food, grounds, and house are splendid. I can't recommend Casa de las Cupulas enough. Make sure to catch a sunrise or sunset!
I recently completed a weeklong stay at the villa as part of a group of 11 people: 2 families consisting of 4 adults and 7 children whose ages ranged from 6 to 12 years old. We could not have been happier with our stay. First of all, the home itself is luxurious and immaculate both inside and out. The common areas were more than large enough to accommodate all of us so that we didn't feel crowded, and the outside, especially the pool area, was positively resort-like. We all also got a lot of use out of the tennis court and a small but very serviceable grassy front lawn where the kids could play ball. But what really distinguished this house from the many others my family had previously rented was the level of service. As many other reviewers have noted, Amira is just an excellent chef. I literally ate more in my week at the villa than I've ever eaten in a week in my life! And David went far beyond most landlords in anticipating our needs. He also managed to do what still seems rather heroic--which is to say, when the plumbing stopped working in the guest house on a Sunday morning, he had a plumber fix the problem within an hour of being informed of it--on a Sunday! Again, this level of service is far superior to anything I have seen before and makes the difference between a good and a great vacation. One aspect that I want to point out for potential visitors is that the house is about a 10-15-minute golf cart ride away from the world-class beaches on the north end of the island, and even those beaches tend to get crowded Christmas week. So if one were looking for miles of secluded sandy beach outside one's front door, this villa does not provide that. However, for us, the combination of a beautiful, private, fully stocked house and the unique charms of the island more than justified the drive to the beaches. Also, worth noting that we actually all loved cruising around the island on those golf carts, interacting with local merchants and townspeople and not being in the bubble of a resort. In sum, I very enthusiastically recommend this house!
