Wonderful Apartment on Famous Flower Market with Canal View

Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 5 - 6 nights

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed, 1 Bathroom, (Sleeps 2-3)

Your home away from home in the very heart of the historic city center!

The perfect romantic getaway for couples.

Ideally situated for business people.

Located on the famous Flower Market you will have the scent of flowers at hand. It is perfectly located within walking distance of all Points of Interest Amsterdam has to offer: such as the Nieuwmarkt square, Chinatown, the University of Amsterdam and Amstel river to the North; the historic 17th century canal belt and Museum Square to the South; the old Jew Quarter, Hermitage, Botanical garden to the East; and the famous Golden Bend and popular 9 streets and Jordaan area to the West.

From the living room you enjoy the view of the Singel canal and the historic monument tower The Munt. This fully furnished 1-bedroom apartment is on the 1st floor (2nd floor by US norms) of a 3-floor recently renovated canal building from 1905. It is a small apartment but very well equipped and perfectly decorated for your comfort.

The 35-square meters apartment includes:

- Spacious bedroom with double bed (140 x 190) and closet,

- Bathroom with shower,

- Fully equipped open kitchen

(stove/electric oven/refrigerator/microwave/toaster/kettle/coffeemaker and washer - no dish washer)

- Living room with a foldable table, a comfortable sofa (which can be unfolded to a double bed of 120 x 190) and a lounge bench, including a flat screen cable TV, DVD/cd player, and Wi-Fi internet connection.

I would not recommend my apartment for more than 2 adults. The convertable sofa would be convenient for a couple with children though.

Rates include: all taxes, weekly cleaning and bed-and bath-linen.

Distance to Points of Interest:

1 minute walk to the nearest supermarket, movie theatre and the main shopping area

5 minutes walk to the 9-Steets district and Dam square

10 minutes walk to the Vondelpark (the city park)

10 minutes walk to the Rembrandt house, Botanical Garden, Hermitage museum, the Nieuwmarkt square and Waterlooplein (large flea market)

15 minutes walk to the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum

15 minutes walk to the Anne Frank house

15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central train station

25 minutes from Schiphol airport (by taxi)

Great restaurants, cafés and clubs are just steps away!

About The Owner

I have lived in Amsterdam since I was born, except for 5 years when I lived in the south of Spain. I think Amsterdam has it all: culture, history, friendliness, relaxedness and creativity. Amsterdam in summer is the best place in the world.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2006

Why The Owner chose Amsterdam

It is the most wonderful apartment in the best spot of the city. Close to everything, yet very quiet at night!

What makes this apartment unique

Being able to step outside and have everything within reach, going to the movies next door, enjoying the lovely flowers every time you come home. There is a very positive vibe. The canal view enlarges the living room at least three times.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for the stay - the apartment is so nice and cozy and warm. The location is fantastic. Being NYers we explored the city on foot and everything was no more than 20 minutes away. Love the city's architecture, museums and people are very nice&friendly.

We had a grand time - 3 days is not enough so we will return. Until then all the best to you & your little ones.

Great location. Super nice host and very helpful.

Only complaint, is the furniture are a little old, and my large frame didn't fit the bed too well. Location and comfort of the place was choice. Will stay here again.

Comfortable, homely and a great location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, comfortable feel to the apartment. The friend of the owner who met us was friendly and helpful. Given how central the location is, in a busy area, the apartment was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Perfect Location!

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and I stayed in the apartment for a week. It was perfect for the 2 of us and centrally located to anything we wanted to see! Sandra and Guido were very accomodating and answered any questions we had before and once we got there. It is a very busy location and if you are looking for something in a very quiet location, this would not be a good place for you. However, we enjoyed the hustle and bustle of it all. We had a great stay with amazing weather and would definitely stay here again if we ever make it back to Amsterdam!

Wouldn't book again.

  • 1 of 5

I'm sure the owners have good intentions but I personally would not stay again. The location is VERY busy at all hours. Right above a tourist shop and next to a Smart Shop (huge drunk and high tourist attraction). Bed only suitable for couples who like to cuddle. Furnace (or utilities) make a loud buzzing noise in the bedroom constantly. Soft is stained and disgusting. Soft mattress not much better. Found a lovely pair of crusty boxer shorts jammed into one of the radiators. No fire alarm... but lots of candles and fire hazards.

Location is pretty close to everything. Host Guido seemed nice enough. Some utilities listed were missing (Kettle).

Place was a good deal for the location only.

The apartment is really comfortable, clean and cosy, very central with easy walking access to nice areas in Amsterdam. And plenty of trams close also. Owner is very friendly and helpful and met us at a time to suit our requirements at the apartment.

Comfy private flat in the middle of Amsterdam

  • 5 of 5

We chose this apartment rental for the amenities including full kitchen, clothes washer, free wifi - and for its central location. Guido and Sandra provide bedding, pantry staples, coffee, tea, cable television and ample household supplies. From the flat, we could walk for 15 minutes to our choice of Centraal Station, the Zoo, Albert Cuyp Market or Anne Frank House. You can see on a map that the location is central to the north, east, south, and west quadrants of Amsterdam. If you lose your way, don't worry because most shopkeepers and any tram conductor can provide directions to the Flower Market.

Important to us was the privacy and security offered by Guido and Sandra. There are only two flats in the building and once past the locked front door, our personal flat door was secured by a deadbolt as were the bay windows. When staying at a hotel, the chambermaid or maintenance worker has access to your room or fellow guests may not share your sleep/wake cycle or your room might be near the ice machine and the squeaky elevator. This will not happen here. Of course, in a downtown area, there will be transient foot traffic, garbage trucks, shopkeepers, etc. A light sleeper might benefit from a sleep mask and ear plugs but the member of our party who slept in the front room had no problem with light or noise.

We stayed for seven days for less than cost of four days at a chain hotel outside the city center. Guido was prompt and informative when we met, taking the time to show us around the flat. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we hope to rent this flat again if it is available!!
