The pontoon boat is 16 feet long, has a Bimini Top, a 50 HP Yamaha Outboard with Trim-n-Tilt, and a 18-gallon gas tank. It has a fold down swim ladder, a Lowrance X-125 graph depth finder, Minn Kota trolling motor, rod holders, and life jackets.
I chose Lake Murray as my retirement location. I have been a bass fisherman all of my life, but got hooked on the Lake Murray Striped Bass, and now that is what I fish for the most. I enjoy catching Largemouth Bass,, Crappie, all species of Bream, and Catfish, but I am now mostly dedicated to Striper's. I won Angler of the Year in 2010, in the oldest striper fresh water fishing club in the US.

I have professionally fished most of the major lakes east of the Mississippi. This is one of the best lakes I have ever fished for just about any species of fish, except Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout.
I fish the lake over 200 days a year. I can tell you where the fish are, and what they are biting. Our location is really unique if you are looking for privacy and serenity. There is no road noise, no nearby neighbors, and a lot of wildlife in the yard, e.g. deer, turkey, ducks, geese, squirrels, rabbits, Blue Heron, Egrets, etc.
We spent 2 1/2 months in SC coldest winter in decades at Rick's cottage. We loved the gas fireplace and Rick was right there with warm bedding and clothes for our dad to go fishing. For as cold as it was the fishing was great! We loved the area and are looking forward to returning next winter. We have never had such attention at a rental place. Each day Rick checked in on us and asked if we needed anything. Our springer was right at home in the large yard and loved Rick as well. Great guy and great place! You'll love it!

enjoyed the lake and the big yard. Family had a great time, fishing, swimming, kneeboarding, lake was great; hanging out on the dock is amazing!! Dog enjoyed it too :)
This was the perfect place for a guys getaway weekend. House was stocked with all that we needed, and if there was something we needed the owner was right there to make sure we had a great weekend.
I highly recommend this place for a great fishing weekend or just sometime hanging out on the dock.
We wanted to get away for a few days and just relax and fish. A friend of mine new Lake Murray but I had never been there before. It is so beautiful. The owner did everything to make the few days as comfortable as possible. We used the pontoon to fish and swim. The water was beautiful and caught some fish but not big enough to eat during June. We will be back.... The kitchen and bedrooms were great and everything your home could want. I am use to a little more of a woman's touch but that's what you go to a fishing cabin for...right? I don't smoke so much of the cabin did smell of cigarettes but we did not have the windows open. I am sure if we did the smell would not have been as potent. We used lysol and it helped. We had a gorgeous few days and could not thank the owner enough. Great time.
My husband and I are locals and were looking for a place that allowed us to get away from it all while still staying close to work. This cottage was perfect! The lot is huge and it's almost like having your very own lake. The cottage is rustic yet clean and still pet friendly. All of the appliances were in working order and the beds were super comfortable. The dock is amazing! I am an absolute novice at fishing but still managed to catch a good number of fish. There is a built in picnic table mid-dock with an umbrella that offers much needed shade. After an evening of fun on the lake we grilled out on the gas grill and then roasted marshmallows over the fire-pit. I hope you enjoy the cottage as much as we did!
The picture of the land is very accurate. It is a really nice place with a nice view. We really enjoyed our stay here. My mother & 2 daughters travelled with us this trip. Rick was very responsive to any of our needs. he provided extra gas cans so that we could keep our jet skis fueled witout having to take them out of the water to refill.
We would definetly visit again. However, the futons are not in very good shape and no one could really sleep on them so we wont be able to come with the extended family. (I have 2 sons also) Also, the ramp into the water is breaking up and hard on the feet.
Overall , I thik this is a great place for a vacation.
This is the 3nd visit we have made to Rick's place and it was great. We brought our boat up again and had a blast. We went out 4-5 hours every day. After a few days our 2 Labs finally got worn out from jumping of the dock and swimming back to the yard. When our stay was over Rick was nice enough to drive my truck to the boat landing and helped me load up the boat. We hope to come back again next year.
