Professional from NYC. I love adventure travel, and travel all over the world to find new experiences, but somewhere along the way, I found Costa Rica to be extra special, and have made Tamarindo my destination of choice.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2008
Tamarindo is a laid back town with so much raw beauty, yet it still has the comforts of home, and you can find a lively atmosphere if you seek it.
I love the fact that I can be out on a surf or fishing tour in the morning, and when I get back I can take a seat near the pool and order a Pina Colada to my lounge chair from the hotel bar. I can experience all the adventures Costa Rica has to offer, while still having a relaxing hotel stay when I'm taking it easy.
This condo was perfect for us! There were four of us, my husband and two grown kids (18 and 21). Although we did not spend much time in the condo, there was plenty of room and privacy. Having a washer/dryer is a dream, we could have packed way less than we did. The kitchen is wonderful, very clean, and while we did not cook we had coffee and breakfast items, which saved a little hassle and money. We booked a couple of trips through the hotel (zip lining and river cruise). Definitely take a look at the guest book, you will get lots of ideas where to go. Our favorites were Green Papaya, Dragonfly and Seasons. We took a trip to Playa Avellana and ate at Lola's -- great food there, and beautiful beach. Make sure you check hours and payment before going to some places -- Lola's was not open for dinner, Season's doesn't take credit cards, Green Papaya is closed on Mondays. As someone said the WIFI isn't too strong but it is available and you don't really want to be online too much. We saw lots of monkeys on the property and off, and parrots in the early morning (off the property).
Neil (the owner) and Katia (from the property management company) were very helpful and responsive.
We had a wonderful vacation week in Tamarindo. The condo was clean, comfortable and the property was beautiful. We had about a dozen monkeys that were outside the property several of the days that provided great entertainment. The condo pool and swim up bar are great and the location just a few minutes from the beach and right in the center of town was perfect. The location was very convenient to everything yet somehow also very peaceful and quiet. The transfers to and from the airport went smooth and timely. Only negatives were the wifi wasn't strong enough and didn't really work and the hotel apparently made a decision a few weeks ago to stop granting condo visitors access to their amenities such as fitness center etc. We were still able to access the beach from the hotel and use their bathrooms which was convenient. I highly recommend this property and hope to stay there again.
Our family stayed 5 nights in Tamarindo in July. We loved the layout of the condo and the resort amenities were perfect. The condo was close to some great restaurants all within walking distance. We didn't use the hotel restaurants as there were too many great choices nearby.
This was a perfect choice for our family of 5! As first timers in Costa Rica, we weren't quite sure what to expect. Certainly the previous reviews helped us make our decision. Everything from the property owner (Neil) to the Management company (Horizon: Daniela); to the "easy" resort (Diria) and awesome town of Tamarindo - we really couldn't believe our luck. The condo was big enough for all of us. It was perfectly equipped. I was a little concerned about the condo being located on the back of the property -- however once there, this was a non-issue and actually turned out to be a bonus. We had easy access to 2 of the Diria's pools, the local "super compro" grocery store; and the beach. Our boys, aged 13, 11 and 7 could safely roam on their own; they will definitely miss their sunset surfs! I would book this again in a heart beat.
You can have it all with this condo. The full amenities of tamarindo's best full service resort and the room, privacy and full kitchen of a condo. The oasis like pool is incredible, and the swim up bar is a nice touch. Sunsets in front of the Diria on the beach or in Loungers on the lawn is a must. Maybe the only scheduled thing we did each day. Restaurants and groceries are super close, easy walking distance. Be sure to try Patagonia, the French bakery, coffee and waffles, Nogui's for fish tacos, as well as a dinner at the Langosta beach club. Fresh fish is easy to get on the beach at Pedro's to take back to the condo and cook yourself. The cleaning staff was great. Happy to work around the nap schedule of our youngest, they were in 3x during our 10 day stay doing dishes, laundry taking out trash and changing linens. If you would like the space of a condo with the amenities of a resort, centrally located in Tamarindo this is it. Pura Vida!
The condo is even better than it looks in the pictures. Very nice condo (and building). Pool by condos is the nicest one at the hotel. Owner was a pleasure to deal with - very reasonable and responsive, and property manager was great. Also very easy to use hotel facilities (you just get wrist band first day). This is why VRBO exists - great condo, good value, actually easier to deal with than many hotels.
You may book any tour Costa Rica has to offer through the activities desk in the Resort including tours of the Arenal Volcano and hot springs, the Monteverde Cloud Forest, the Canopy Zip Line tours, and Surfing Lessons. You will have the confidence of getting an approved and tested experience through professionals. There are also many other booking agencies throughout the town, but I highly recommend going through the resort, as they have higher quality standards than elsewhere.
